Located on the west side of Ekimae-dori in Minami 8 Nishi 3, Sapporo. Just a few minutes' walk from Nakajima Koen Station on the subway. It's on the 1st floor of a hotel called Ibis Styles. Yes, it's a bar inside the hotel. This Ibis Styles hotel doesn't look like much from the outside, so it was a bit hard to find at first. I saw some pictures from someone I know on social media and found out they have a wide selection of domestic gins. During the self-restraint period, I've been drinking a lot of cocktails at home, so I really wanted to have a real cocktail. I arrived around 8:00 pm. In addition to the bar, there is also a sushi restaurant. I sat at the counter and ordered a "Bloody Mary." The back bar had a wide selection of domestic gins. The bartender, whom I met for the first time, was friendly, warm, and thoughtful. Why are bartenders such well-rounded individuals? (Well, there are some exceptions, of course.) Bars are places to enjoy delicious drinks, so it's natural to feel relaxed, but still. I was recommended a slightly unique "Bloody Mary," and since I was interested, I left it up to the bartender. A cocktail with foam made with a mixer. It also used two types of Japanese bitters - sansho bitters and umami bitters. Yes, it was delicious. It wasn't the Bloody Mary I had imagined, but it had its own unique character and was quite easy to drink. Obviously, there's a world of difference between this and the haphazard cocktails I make at home. The charge was around 600 yen (probably) and quite reasonable. Furthermore, if you order food from the sushi restaurant, the charge is waived. So, I ordered a platter of three appetizers. Kombu and walnut salad, potato salad with crab miso, and simmered octopus head. They were all small portions but delicious. The crab was full of flavor, and it was a luxury to eat it with the potato salad. And for a big fan of octopus like me, simmered octopus head is pure bliss. It was cooked tenderly in a sweet broth. After enjoying all the appetizers and finishing the Bloody Mary, I ordered a Martini. This time, I wanted to try something more standard, so I asked for a Tanqueray Martini. The vermouth used was Noilly Prat. High-proof short cocktails have been getting stronger as I've aged, but this one was undoubtedly delicious. I chatted with the bartender about domestic gins. It's nice to have a variety of unique gins, but I think cocktails are the way to go. I also exchanged SNS contacts, so I can quickly find out about new bottle arrivals. It's a wonderful time we live in. A bar where you can enjoy cocktails in a very relaxed atmosphere. The appetizers from the sushi restaurant were also delicious. Thank you for the meal.
