I went to a local izakaya called Jidaiya, which has a good reputation among locals. It was a cold day, so I had some yudofu with beer! And also tried the Jidaiya steak and maitake mushroom tempura. I ate a lot but the prices were reasonable and I was satisfied with the cost performance. It's a great place where you can enjoy yourself alone or with friends.

Thursday night is the local drinking night. It may be a bit inconvenient for those who can come, but well, that's life and we just have to accept it. It's rare for Bakubeso to leave early on a Thursday, but he mysteriously disappeared after saying, "Let's go out on Thursday," leaving behind a cryptic message. I don't want to go out on Thursdays because there's Pre-Battle. I hate refusing, but I fought with Bakubeso without holding back. It was a quick fight, but I got the upper hand. The first place we went to was Jidaiya. This place originally opened as a replacement for a nearby soba restaurant that went out of business. It didn't last long and disappeared. I tried the food once, but never went back. However, when they reopened in a new location, I was surprised by how good it was. I was shocked to see that it was doing well. I went to check things out at the Abashiri Bar, and they were serving surprisingly delicious food. I was surprised, but I never revisited. Then I heard that a favorite restaurant closed down and was replaced by Jidaiya, so I had to check it out. Today, we went to "Jidaiya" because it was a Thursday. We didn't make a reservation, but only the counter was available. Isn't this place popular? The previous customer was smoking a thin, black cigarette, and the smoke was flowing towards us. The beer was poured halfway, and it seemed like the waitress did it. The first beer was like this, so there was no excitement. The appetizers were shrimp mayo and duck meat. Shrimp mayo was decent with cheese, and my wife highly recommends the duck meat. I don't trust her opinion. The smoked duck meat was good, but a bit watery. The "Motsunabe" can be ordered for one person for 1200 yen, which they boast about. But I wonder how it compares to the motsunabe at the previous restaurant, "Wasuke," which I liked. The "Mochi Bacon" for 440 yen was crispy and had a sauce. It was too crispy and salty, and I felt like I was eating too much. The bacon was not good, and it lacked value. The "Pork Skewers" for 400 yen were also bad. My wife said, "Everything tastes good," but I can't trust her. She also said, "I've never heard of a good restaurant for banquets." The motsunabe was just like Wasuke. There's no complaint there. But as I kept going, the quality kept dropping. The smell, the size of the meat, it was all worse. I was shocked at how bad it was. I had been eating the motsunabe at Wasuke in Sapporo, and it was getting worse each time. And now it's even worse. The meat was small and smelled bad. It was beyond belief. 6590 yen for this terrible meal. It's ridiculously expensive.

It seems like a new restaurant that opened after the state of emergency. The menu is mainly Japanese cuisine, but there are quite a variety of options. I was quite hungry, so I ordered a lot. Chicken wings - highly recommended. Juicy! Ponpochi, pork skewers - grilled over charcoal with just the right amount of salt. I'm curious about the other skewers too. Fried octopus - on the salty side with a strong garlic flavor. Smelt fish, saury - perfectly dried and grilled. Steak - sweet sauce with garlic chips as a nice touch. Served on a sizzling hot plate. Ochazuke - with a rich dashi flavor, slightly salty. Cream zenzai - plenty of vanilla ice cream and rice cake, very satisfying. I think the pricing is reasonable. They are skilled at grilling! Both the meat and fish were delicious. Also, they have a great selection of Japanese sake. They have a lineup where someone can say "I like this!" about each one. There are still other menu items that I'm curious about, so I want to go back again.

The prices are a bit high but the portions are generous and delicious, and it's not crowded so it's worth a visit.
