We went to a super popular restaurant in the East District and tried their signature dish, the "Marushin Hamburg." It reminded me of the hamburgers I used to have in my student days. Have you heard of "Marushin Hamburg"? Anyway, we also stumbled upon a cafe with a K mark sign. So we decided to check it out. The place was clean and shiny, and we were the only customers. We ordered a Cafe Millefeuille and a Caramel Nut Chiffon, which is a new item on the menu. The desserts were delicious and left us feeling satisfied. The cafe also sells factory-direct products, but thankfully there were no defective items for sale. Overall, it was a great experience!

In the area of Higashinaoho, between National Route 275 and Sankakuten-dori, there is a shop called "Kinotoya". It is a factory direct store, so it is a bit off the main road, but I didn't know there was a shop here. The sales space is not very large, but there were many customers, so it took us about 15 minutes to check out. The cakes in the showcase all look elegant and delicious, so it's hard to choose, but this time I bought my favorite "Sapporo Nogakko (3 pieces for 180 yen)" as well as "Premium Cheese Tart (270 yen)", "Mont Blanc with Chestnut (604 yen)", "Strawberry Tiramisu (594 yen)", and "Chestnut Pie (500 yen)". The "Sapporo Nogakko" is consistently delicious, and even if you buy a lot of pieces, it is cheap and doesn't feel heavy, making it perfect for souvenirs. The "Premium Cheese Tart" is a bit pricey, but it was even more delicious than the usual "freshly baked cheese tart". My wife enjoyed the other two cakes she had, so although the prices are somewhat high-end, I think it's good for when you want to eat delicious cakes.

The jelly had a soft and bouncy texture that contrasted nicely with the fresh fruit pulp. The bottom layer was a fluffy cheesecake that was surprisingly light and had a delicate flavor. It was as delicious as it looked. The next day, I found Kinotoya's flyer in my mailbox, with the cake I had just enjoyed featured on it. Delicious cakes are truly the result of careful planning and calculation. Kinotoya is the best!

When it comes to Kinotoya, it's all about their seasonal limited edition cakes. The strawberry cake looks absolutely delicious. It's filled with plenty of strawberries, and they are so sweet and tasty. There's also custard cream inside, surrounded by cocoa sponge. It's impossible for it not to be delicious. Surprisingly, it's also refreshing and you can eat as much as you want. The small size (about 13-14 cm in diameter) costs around 3,000 yen. Looking forward to enjoying it again next year.

I really love Kinotoya's cakes. Quality is definitely superior to cost. I wonder if there's some kind of liquor in the fresh cream? Something has a subtle fragrance, and the sponge is moist and not at all powdery. The sweetness isn't overpowering, it's a perfect match with the sponge. Even the strawberries and fruits are generously placed so that even sharing one with someone won't cause any arguments. The Mont Blanc with its chestnut paste has an amazing chestnut flavor. It's clearly different from the cheap bright yellow ones. There are quite a few fancy looking shops that sell tiny cakes at ridiculous prices, right? But this place is different. The cakes are a decent size, and although the price might be a bit high, the quality surpasses it. Even the cream puffs are incredible. This is the real deal. There's a place in Ebetsu that closed down the shop but kept the factory running, making a fortune at events with their so-called Sakumochi Choux. Those are clearly inferior. The surface is crispy, the inside is chewy, and the rich custard cream is surprisingly sweet. The strong vanilla flavor is also evident with visible vanilla beans. I'm impressed. Hats off to them.

I lined up before the store opened and was able to buy just in time. There is a parking lot on the pick-up side of the store as well. You can buy up to three strawberry chantillys per person. They are delicious. But the pudding is even better! The 400 yen one is worth it. It had lots of fruits in it. It's best to go before 10 a.m. and line up!

When I visited Higashinaoho for shopping, I decided to stop by Kinotoya Higashinaoho Store. I was mainly interested in their factory direct products. I arrived around 10:30. Despite the heavy snowstorm that day, the parking lot was about 70% full. Feeling a bit anxious, I stepped into the store and found it! Strawberry Chantilly!! Due to the weather, there were still about 10 left. Priced at 200 yen + tax, it was a great deal using leftover cake slices. The bottom half is a roll cake with sliced strawberries and mandarins, while the top half is filled with whipped cream. The balance with the strawberries on top was perfect, and with more cream than their regular strawberry shortcake, I actually preferred this one. I may not have the chance to visit often, but whenever I'm in Higashinaoho, I definitely want to stop by again.

There is a limited number available, but on this day, you could buy up to 5. I also bought some pie and tart edges from Elm. Even though the cake was for home use, it was wrapped in a ribbon...
