I arrived at "Atsubetsu Nishi" in the morning, expecting it to be open from 9:00 am, but it was not open yet. There was a sign saying "Due to the coronavirus, we will open at 10:00 am." I couldn't wait for an hour, so I wandered around the area. Eventually, I went back a little after 10:00 am. The operation was run by a couple in their 70s or 80s, with 2 counter seats, 7 tables for 4 people, and Carpenters playing in the background. The interior was filled with retro items, especially the 30 or so wall clocks, most of which were not working except for one above my seat. Everything in the shop seemed handmade and nostalgic. The warm towel made of towel fabric gave a sense of hospitality. I ordered the "Toast Set @ 530 yen," which was ready in about 8 minutes and brought to me by the lady. The coffee was freshly roasted, with a high extraction temperature and a mild acidity. The toast was lightly buttered, cut into four long slices, which was a unique way to eat. The salad included "Sunny lettuce, strawberries, bananas, and cherry tomatoes." Overall, for 530 yen, it was a well-prepared breakfast. Although it was a bit disappointing that the opening was delayed by an hour, it was worth the wait. I hope they continue to do well in their business. Thank you for the meal.

Spaghetti set for 750 yen in April 2023 🌟 Taking a walk (๑´∀`) Located in the area near Atsubetsu-nishi, a 20-minute walk from Shin-Sapporo Station, this coffee shop is run by a couple with a hand-painted signboard. After hesitating for a few years, today I gathered the courage to step inside. It's all about taking on challenges ( ･ㅂ･)و← I'm being dramatic lol The atmosphere is old-fashioned with numerous clocks adorning the walls and antiques displayed throughout the mysterious space filled with smoke ( ´-ω-)y‐┛~~ It's rare these days to find a place where smoking is allowed in all seats. The coffee, hand-roasted and home-roasted, is priced at 400 yen, making it easy to visit. Other drinks are also priced at 1 coin or less. There are various meal options like rice, bread, spaghetti, etc. While there are individual items on the menu, adding just 100 yen for a set is a good deal! A salad and a drink of your choice come with the spaghetti set, which is named after the restaurant as "Garakuta." Curious about something unfamiliar, I opted for a drink, as I cannot drink coffee, I chose cola. Served in a cold copper cup with a slice of lemon, it felt subtly stylish. Feeling like I got a good deal with the salad and even fruit included in the set. The pasta had plenty of ham, bell peppers, onions, and mushrooms, generously seasoned with a salty taste that I like. I visited a cafe located on 13th Street in February 2023. There is a parking lot in front of the store. Inside, there are vintage items such as a pillar clock and lamps, creating a cozy atmosphere. I looked at the menu and ordered the chicken rice set. For my drink, I had iced coffee, which was smooth with a refreshing aftertaste. The chicken rice had a sweet flavor. The salad was topped with fruits, making it colorful and appealing.

I have known about this place for a while, but I never had the chance to visit until now. Located along Kitago-dori, if you head towards Atsubetsu from the city center, it's on the left-hand side. The building has a nostalgic feel to it, with antiques like pillar clocks, cameras, and station signs collected by the owner. The interior layout and decor give off a strong Showa era vibe, which is appealing to people from our generation. The owner and his wife run the place, and during my visit, we ended up reminiscing about the past as the shop used to be located on Heiwa-dori 35 years ago. I ordered a thick toast set (for only 530 yen!) and enjoyed chatting with the owners while savoring the old-fashioned fruit salad and light coffee. The shop has been in business for 37 years, maintaining the traditional snack bar ambiance from the past. Despite facing some health challenges, the owners expressed their determination to continue running the shop. I left wishing them good health and success in the future. Thank you for the meal.

The owner is a bit shy, peeking out from behind the wall, talking about how their love for clocks and antiques led to this unique decor. The cafe also serves hand-roasted coffee in copper mugs. The atmosphere is deep and cozy, with quirky decorations that catch your eye. The food, like the spaghetti with ham, mushrooms, and seaweed, has a great salty flavor and just the right amount of oiliness. It's a unique and enjoyable experience. The handwritten menu and the overall ambiance make you want to stay here forever. Overall, it's a charming cafe with a nostalgic feel.
