Every time I passed by, I saw a line at a restaurant that caught my attention, Rice & Curry, Rama. They offer two types of curry that change daily, with the menu updates posted on Facebook. You can also add a set of 3 side dishes and soup. The restaurant is located on the south side of Nakanoshima, one street north of Tosabori Street, on the second floor of a building along the river. If you arrive 20 minutes before opening on weekdays, you can be the first in line. A few minutes later, the line extends, and by the time they open at 11:30, there is a line of 7-8 people. After climbing the narrow stairs and disinfecting, you enter the cozy and natural cafe-like interior. There are 13 seats in total, with counters in front of the kitchen and by the window, as well as tables for 2 and 3 people. Lunch is served on weekdays from 11:30 to 15:00, and on weekends and holidays from 12:00 to 16:00 (closed on Tuesdays) (Please check with the restaurant for the latest information on their current operating status and hours).

About a year ago, the oyster curry with 3 side dishes was ¥1,150, but now it is ¥1,550 with side dishes. Spiced curry dishes are often associated with generous portions of side dishes, so it's a bit disappointing that they are now charged separately at ¥400... This time, we ordered the oyster curry and chicken curry without side dishes to share. Thanks to lining up early, we were able to order the limited quantity oyster curry, but it was sold out before noon. (After that, the choice was between chicken curry or chicken keema curry)
As of May 2022, the oyster curry is no longer available, but if you like seafood, you can order tuna, pike conger eel, or shrimp curry, each carefully prepared with spices to order, so even if you order first, it takes about 30 minutes to be served.
Hiroshima Oyster Curry - ¥1,150
The aroma of the spices is delightful! The curry is a light and soupy consistency with plump oysters generously included (6 in total). The curry has a light and refreshing soup base. It has a slightly grated vegetable-like texture with a slight thickness. The aroma of the spices tickles the nose, but the spiciness is mild, with a popping spice flavor and a toasty fragrance standing out. The flavor and aroma are of course curry, but it's like a natural-tasting vegetable soup with added spices... The rich flavor of the oysters blends in. The oysters are cooked quickly, so they are tender and melt-in-your-mouth rare. The milky oyster essence fills your mouth. There is no raw fishy smell, perhaps marinated in spices or herbs? The rice is cooked firm and fluffy Japanese rice, perfect for the light curry. Served with spicy onions and radish pickle, a refreshing palate cleanser. However, it feels a bit lonely without side dishes... Should have added side dishes for an extra ¥250?
Chicken Curry (with chicken wings) - ¥1,000
The curry comes with 2 bone-in chicken wings. The curry has a soupy and light consistency, but the flavor is completely different! The aroma of the spices is rich and the sweetness and acidity of the vegetables stand out, with the unique creamy richness of the chicken. A different umami flavor from the seafood essence of the oyster curry. The large chicken wings are tender and juicy, easily falling off the bone with a moist and meaty texture. When eaten with the curry, it's very satisfying! While eating, you don't ==========
