⭐Hiroshima Oyster Curry with Half Extra Chili Oil @ RAMA Located at 2-3-23 Itahigashi Building 2F, Tosabori, Nishi-ku, Osaka, Japan. Closest station: Nakanoshima Station, a 5-minute walk away. Closed on Tuesdays. For more information, visit their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ramacurry/ Rating: 3.66 (122 reviews) [Cuisine: Curry] Osaka Prefecture: 67, Osaka City: 66, Nishi-ku: 15 [Curry Rice] Osaka Prefecture: 49, Osaka City: 49, Nishi-ku: 12 [Curry Top 100] Nationwide: 58, Osaka Prefecture: 58, Osaka City: 13 Visited for the first time on a Saturday afternoon in March 2022. Originally self-taught and opened in Nishinomiya, the restaurant relocated to its current location in 2015. Arrived at 12:02 PM with 4 other customers already present. Ordered the Hiroshima Oyster Curry for ¥1150 and half extra Chili Oil for ¥50, totaling ¥1200. The curry featured five large Hiroshima oysters, creating a unique and complex flavor profile where the oysters and spices melded seamlessly. The taste of the curry was unlike anything I had experienced before, with a depth and complexity that truly elevated the dish. The combination of spices and the essence of the sea in the curry was exceptionally delicious. The half portion of Chili Oil was just the right level of spiciness, as recommended by the staff, and added a perfect kick to the dish.

I wanted to try a curry restaurant, but it was closed for the day. Luckily, I found another place to eat at. I went up the wrong staircase and got a bit lost, which was kind of nostalgic. Since I was dining alone, I couldn't get a variety of curries, so I ordered a plate set. First, I had a cold bean soup with tomatoes, which was refreshing. The vegetable side dishes were well-spiced and tasty. The pork keema curry I ordered was spicier than I remembered, maybe due to chili powder. It was still light and easy to eat. I also tried the lemon achaar, but it was too sour and sharp for my taste, so I left it aside. Overall, the curry here is simple and light in flavor, but I prefer something with more depth.

I had the tuna curry and it was delicious! The spices were really flavorful and the tuna was tasty. The restaurant had a nice aroma of spices too. I started sweating a little even before eating.

In the summer, it's all about conger eel curry at Rama, the curry restaurant on Nakanoshima! I wanted to try it with chicken keema, but unfortunately, they said "no mixing today." The conger eel curry came with four large pieces of what seemed to be boneless conger eel, which was a nice touch. The spiciness was just right for the season, and the flavor of the conger eel was amazing. While white fish like conger eel can sometimes get overshadowed by the spices, the richness of the conger eel really stood out in the curry. With its high fat content, conger eel surprisingly pairs well with curry! It's so delicious that it could easily become a staple menu item. This conger eel curry is the best fish curry I've had this year. #food #foodgsm #instafood #foody #instaphoto #foodpic #curry #yummy #instayummy #カレー #カレーライス #スパイスカレー #spicecurry #食べログ #instacurry #tabelog #ラーマ #osakaspicecurry #大阪カレー

After a long time, I went to Rama on a Monday at 12:30 and was able to get in smoothly without waiting. I ordered three types of chicken keema dishes and added mung dal, lemon pickle, and green chili. It had been a while since I last went, but as always, it was delicious! The dishes were tasty, and I especially enjoyed the usual lemon pickle and green chili. They are a must-have for me. I need to come back to try different flavors next time. The keema was light and delicious.

I went to the famous restaurant called Rama, which is known for serving soul food in Osaka, and had their popular spice curry. There was a line of customers even before the opening, but I managed to get a seat as the 4th person in line. The restaurant quickly became full after I sat down, showing its popularity. I had the shrimp curry and it was incredibly delicious.

It was spicy. The hamo curry was quite spicy. You have to choose between mutton or hamo since there is no mix option. However, if you order a set, you will get vegetables and soup that you can mix with the curry. By mixing them, the spiciness level becomes similar to other curry places, so if you don't like it too spicy, opt for the set even though it costs around 1600 yen. The curry is on the watery side but not thin. Payment is cash only, so be aware.

The hidden gem restaurant was so delicious! I heard about it from my gourmet sisters who live nearby and decided to visit. It was a bit hard to find, but once I found it, I realized it was a well-kept secret. The interior was cute and stylish, in contrast to the unassuming exterior. The chicken keema curry with the side soup was packed with flavor and very tasty. It felt like a cozy place run by a couple. I felt relaxed and soothed in this charming restaurant.

I walked to Rama's, which is just a minute away from my house. Sometimes there is a line before the Spicy Curry opens, but today I arrived around 12:30 pm and was able to enter without waiting. The pleasant smell of spices is as inviting as ever, making me crave their addictive spices over and over again.

Today's lunch was at Rama in Tosabori. It was my first visit to this place that I've been curious about for a while. Their spiced curry is famous. I ordered the Pork Keema Curry for 1,000 yen. I sat by the window and after about 15 minutes of waiting, it arrived. They had mentioned that it might take some time, so I was prepared for that. The curry was served with a mound of rice in the center, surrounded by a sea of Pork Keema Curry. It looked beautiful. The taste was spicy, with plenty of pork keema. It wasn't overly spicy, and was easy to eat. The light spiced curry was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

Every time I passed by the shop, I could smell the aroma of spices, and I finally visited after a long time. I haven't eaten spice curry much, so it's hard to compare, but it was delicious with a light yet flavorful taste. The oysters also had a richness of flavor that didn't lose to the spices. It was delicious, thank you for the meal.

Rama-san for the second time♪ Today I had a curry with big shrimp! I saw it on Facebook and was debating whether to go to other restaurants, but ended up choosing this one! The shrimp was so big~! I wondered if it would be as big as in the picture while climbing up the stairs eagerly, and there was no line. I placed my order right after 12 o'clock. It was a shrimp curry for about 1300 yen, and the shrimps that appeared were swimming in a curry sea! They were really big~ with a firm and chewy texture, the shrimps were delicious! The curry had a sweetness from the shrimp and then a spicy kick that spread afterwards, it was super tasty! Rama-san was impressed last time as well, but... the Japanese rice was really delicious!! Especially, although it's not mentioned in other reviews... even if the curry is really delicious, if the rice is not up to par, I sometimes think that the restaurant is lacking a bit... whether it's Japanese white rice, jasmine rice, or basmati rice, if it matches the curry of that restaurant, I think it's delicious. In other words, when you have delicious rice with delicious curry, it means that this restaurant pays attention to the details like the taste of the rice and the texture that goes well with the curry... I was impressed by the meticulousness and can't forget it. Maybe it's because I'm Japanese... I still care about those things... In other words, Rama-san has both delicious curry and rice!! Applause!!!! I'm grateful that there is a great restaurant where I can go regularly... Thank you for the meal!

Rama's delicious Keema curry ♡ On Saturday, I arrived right at 12 o'clock, but there were already 6 people waiting, and as I climbed the stairs, a delightful aroma tickled my nose. The staff promptly seated us at our table. The waitress kindly explained, "After the first 6 people, there will be a bit of a wait." Of course, no problem! I'll wait! I ordered the Keema curry lunch plate. They served a spiced appetizer and curry soup (it had a name, but in my mind, it was curry soup...) first, and the waitress explained that the appetizer could be enjoyed on its own or with the curry. I started with the soup. It was a sunny day, but still a bit chilly, and the gentle spiciness, fragrance, and warmth of the soup were so comforting. I tasted each appetizer one by one... Simple but each with a different flavor, all delicately seasoned and delicious. When the Keema curry arrived, I was already in bliss just by looking at it. It was beautiful... The plate was a lovely, chubby ceramic with a blue rim dusted with star-like spice powder, reminiscent of a night sky and a full moon of curry... The taste was impeccable!! Elegant spiciness, depth of flavor, and a slightly thickened sauce. The refreshing texture of the well-cooked rice balanced it perfectly. (I was told that the rice was Japanese rice.) The pickles and vegetables served alongside the rice added a gentle acidity and sweetness that complemented the curry without overpowering it, creating a different kind of deliciousness when enjoyed together... I kept eating and finished the plate in no time. Who could leave this behind...? The beautifully presented Keema curry from Rama, with flavors that continue to unfold as you eat. I must go back to try their seasonal curry dishes as well...! Thank you for the wonderful meal!

I arrived around 14:40 towards the end of lunchtime. It's a time when most places would have already finished serving lunch, but this place is open from 11-15 on weekdays and 12-16 on weekends, which is quite convenient. The interior has a cozy cafe-like atmosphere with dim lighting from incandescent bulbs. There are various seating options with spacious gaps between tables. They offer only two types of curry, and on this day, unfortunately, there were no samples available. You can opt for a set with soup and vegetable side dishes for an additional fee, and also add various toppings. I ordered the Hamo Curry (1,250 yen) which came with four large pieces of cut conger eel. The eel was deboned carefully, and the combination with curry was surprisingly good as the eel itself had a mild flavor. The curry had a nice level of spiciness and the spices were well-balanced.

A popular curry restaurant in Tosabori that has also been selected as one of the top 100 curry restaurants in the west. They offer only two types of curry, and sometimes you can mix them together. I couldn't choose that option this time, so I struggled between chicken and eel, and ended up ordering the eel curry. The curry had a thin, spicy sauce with plenty of spices. It looked simple with chunks of eel meat. The sauce itself was spicy and had a deep flavor, which was great. The menu changes with the seasons, so I'll definitely go back when they have new dishes.

The chicken curry with chicken wings was cooked for a long time, making the meat easily fall off the bone. The curry itself was not too spicy and had a nice texture. Surprisingly, the rice was hard and dry, but it paired well with the curry. Thank you for the meal.

On the second day of my business trip in Osaka, I visited a restaurant called "Rama" that I had been curious about for a while. The location is on the second floor of a building on the left side just after crossing the Tosabori River, walking south down the Amida Pond Street from Keihan Nakanoshima Station. I arrived right after the opening on a weekday, so I was the first customer. The interior of the restaurant had a few tables and a counter, and I chose to sit at the counter farthest back. The menu consisted of two types of curry of the day, a soup, a side dish plate, and drinks. When I tried to order a combination of the two curry dishes, I was told it couldn't be done because I was the only customer. However, as soon as another customer arrived, they allowed me to order the combination along with the plate set and an iced chai for dessert. The kitchen was run by the owner, while the dining area was managed by his wife. Watching the kitchen, I could see that the curries were carefully prepared with various spices added after each order. It took about 15 minutes for my order to be served, but it was an enjoyable experience. First, the soup arrived, followed by the curries and the plate set. - Nepalese Altama Potato and Bamboo Shoot Soup: A slightly spicy soup made with various spices that enhances the appetite. - Chicken Curry - Pork Keema Curry: A blend of a wide variety of spices that looked intense but tasted gentle and well-rounded. The spices were skillfully used without overpowering each other, showcasing the owner's expertise. In Osaka, there are many spice curry restaurants, but in terms of spice usage, this place stands out with a high level of skill and unique characteristics. Ordering the combination of two curries was definitely the right choice. - Today's Spiced Vegetable Side Dishes: "Pumpkin Subji," "Rape Blossom with Sesame Dressing," "Chinese Cabbage, Turnip, and Mushroom Coconut Stir-fry," and "Yogurt Dressing with Pomelo and Pumpkin Seeds." These four dishes had a mix of Indian and Japanese flavors that surprisingly paired well with the curries. The iced chai I had after the meal was easy to drink, not too heavy on the spices. Based on other reviews, I would like to try the seafood curry next time. The bill came to 1,750 yen. Thank you for the meal!

I visited the restaurant around 12:30 on Wednesday. The location of the restaurant is a bit hard to find, but the inside was quite busy. They have a system where you can choose from two types of curry and add toppings. Today, I decided to have the marlin curry. They cook the order after it's placed, and you can see that they are very careful with the preparation. The food was brought to me after about 15 minutes of waiting. It looked very beautiful and had a delicious aroma. When I tried it, I felt a refreshing spiciness spreading in my mouth! It's not just about enjoying the spices, but it has a deep flavor that I really enjoyed. The marlin was also perfectly seasoned and tasted great! I finished it in no time! Thank you for the meal!

Located just off Tosabori Street, there's a place called Rama serving up spice curry. What a surprise to find a curry spot here! As soon as you step inside, you're greeted by a clove-like ethnic aroma. On the day of my visit, they had chicken wing curry and tuna curry on the menu, and I chose the chicken wings. At first, it seemed like a nice, fragrant, traditional curry, but as I continued eating, the spiciness kicked in and I really enjoyed it! Thank you for the meal!

Every time I passed by, I saw a line at a restaurant that caught my attention, Rice & Curry, Rama. They offer two types of curry that change daily, with the menu updates posted on Facebook. You can also add a set of 3 side dishes and soup. The restaurant is located on the south side of Nakanoshima, one street north of Tosabori Street, on the second floor of a building along the river. If you arrive 20 minutes before opening on weekdays, you can be the first in line. A few minutes later, the line extends, and by the time they open at 11:30, there is a line of 7-8 people. After climbing the narrow stairs and disinfecting, you enter the cozy and natural cafe-like interior. There are 13 seats in total, with counters in front of the kitchen and by the window, as well as tables for 2 and 3 people. Lunch is served on weekdays from 11:30 to 15:00, and on weekends and holidays from 12:00 to 16:00 (closed on Tuesdays) (Please check with the restaurant for the latest information on their current operating status and hours). Lunch Menu (all prices include tax): A - ¥1,150: Hiroshima Oyster Curry B - ¥1,000: Chicken Curry (with chicken wings) *Extra charge for large rice ¥50, large sauce ¥100 *No combination of 2 types of curry available on this day Soup & Side Dish Set + ¥400 - Soup: Mung Bean Soup - Vegetable side dishes (citrus salad, winter melon and bean stew, stir-fried young burdock and fried tofu, turnip and red radish relish) *Soup only or side dishes only available for an additional ¥250 each *On weekends and holidays, soup and side dishes are always served as a set (curry dishes are not available separately) About a year ago, the oyster curry with 3 side dishes was ¥1,150, but now it is ¥1,550 with side dishes. Spiced curry dishes are often associated with generous portions of side dishes, so it's a bit disappointing that they are now charged separately at ¥400... This time, we ordered the oyster curry and chicken curry without side dishes to share. Thanks to lining up early, we were able to order the limited quantity oyster curry, but it was sold out before noon. (After that, the choice was between chicken curry or chicken keema curry) As of May 2022, the oyster curry is no longer available, but if you like seafood, you can order tuna, pike conger eel, or shrimp curry, each carefully prepared with spices to order, so even if you order first, it takes about 30 minutes to be served. Hiroshima Oyster Curry - ¥1,150 The aroma of the spices is delightful! The curry is a light and soupy consistency with plump oysters generously included (6 in total). The curry has a light and refreshing soup base. It has a slightly grated vegetable-like texture with a slight thickness. The aroma of the spices tickles the nose, but the spiciness is mild, with a popping spice flavor and a toasty fragrance standing out. The flavor and aroma are of course curry, but it's like a natural-tasting vegetable soup with added spices... The rich flavor of the oysters blends in. The oysters are cooked quickly, so they are tender and melt-in-your-mouth rare. The milky oyster essence fills your mouth. There is no raw fishy smell, perhaps marinated in spices or herbs? The rice is cooked firm and fluffy Japanese rice, perfect for the light curry. Served with spicy onions and radish pickle, a refreshing palate cleanser. However, it feels a bit lonely without side dishes... Should have added side dishes for an extra ¥250? Chicken Curry (with chicken wings) - ¥1,000 The curry comes with 2 bone-in chicken wings. The curry has a soupy and light consistency, but the flavor is completely different! The aroma of the spices is rich and the sweetness and acidity of the vegetables stand out, with the unique creamy richness of the chicken. A different umami flavor from the seafood essence of the oyster curry. The large chicken wings are tender and juicy, easily falling off the bone with a moist and meaty texture. When eaten with the curry, it's very satisfying! While eating, you don't ==========

Please note the context may feel out of place as this is a blog post. For a better experience, please visit the blog at https://spicepaccho.com/2022/02/15/rama/ 【Rice & Curry Rama: Osaka - Nakanoshima】 Visited on February 10, 2022 (Thursday, noon) Located a 6-minute walk from Exit 1 of Nakanoshima Station (about a 12-minute walk from Awaza Station and Higobashi Station) No waiting time at 2:10 PM I cried when I saw the sign saying the tuna was sold out. Located just across the Tosabori River from Nakanoshima, "Rice & Curry Rama" celebrated its 14th anniversary in February 2022. It is a popular restaurant known for its high-quality and delicious seafood daily curries. They only have a Facebook page, so make sure to check for their business hours and daily curry updates! The interior of the restaurant has a natural and cozy atmosphere with wooden accents. There are counter seats, counter seats by the kitchen window, and table seats in the center (not shown in the picture due to people sitting there). Self-service water station available! There was also frozen curry available. There were two types of displayed curries: daily special "Selected Tuna" and "Chicken Keema Curry"! They used to offer a combination of two curries, but it seems like they no longer do. The "Soup & Vegetable Side Dish Plate Set" is recommended! Menu: - Burdock pickles - Drink menu I was disappointed to find out that the daily special "Selected Tuna" was sold out. I shed a tear, indeed. If you're aiming for the daily special, make sure to line up before opening. The stylish blue plates with sprinkled spices arrived! The topping of papadum was impressive. Chicken Keema Curry (1000 yen) Chili oil, cream cheese, papadum (each 100 yen) Chicken Keema Curry Rice is Japanese rice Side dish: Spiced soy sauce pickles Cream cheese (topping) Chili oil (topping) Papadum (topping) The aroma was amazing! It was meticulously prepared, visually appealing, and served piping hot. The curry is not too strong in flavor, making it easy to eat. However, when combined with the cream cheese topping, it becomes rich and flavorful! Delicious!! Cream cheese is a must-have. Soup and Vegetable Side Dish Set (+400 yen) Kabu leaf and white leek marun, Kachumber (radish, cherry tomato, red onion), Sambar (bean and vegetable soup) The soup set with plenty of beans and vegetables has a gentle flavor and is really delicious! You can eat the vegetables on their own or on top of the curry! (Personally, I recommend having them with the curry) With less oil and lots of vegetables, this plate is popular among women as it allows them to consume a good amount of vegetables. Mixing in the chili oil After mixing in the chili oil... "It's extremely spicy!!" I usually enjoy spicy food, but this was seriously too spicy! The staff even mentioned, "It's spicy, so we can make it less spicy for you," but I got carried away. Spicy food lovers, you must try it out. ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆ I am sharing on my blog, Instagram, and Twitter! Feel free to check them out!
