Three old friends enjoyed a Chinese hot pot at Meguro Saikan for the first round. After that, around 3 PM on a Sunday, we looked for a place for the second round without a reservation, hoping to get into Bistro Sin, but it was closed! Wondering where to go next, my eyes landed on Kanday. Is this good enough? It was my first visit there. We ordered oden with daikon, beef tendon, and ganmodoki, along with some sake with broth, chuhai, and fragrant tea highballs. We thought we would keep it light since we were already full, but we ended up adding yakitori and ordering more drinks for about an hour. The bill came to just over 2,000 yen per person. Wait, that’s cheap! If we had gone to Sin for wine and dishes, it would probably have been more than double that… Although Kanday was a last-minute choice, it turned out to be a great decision. Since we saved some money, we were ready to head to the next place as we left Meguro Station. It’s not a restaurant where you'd sit down for a long time, but it's great for a starter, a quick stop, or grabbing one last drink. The taste of the oden and yakitori was quite good, and the prices for drinks were reasonable. Overall, it was a nice place.

I visited a restaurant called "Kandayak" located on the first floor of the Central Square at Meguro Station. I went there just after 3 PM. I've heard that their oden is delicious, so I decided to order a variety of dishes centered around oden. Despite the ongoing price increases, their prices are relatively reasonable. The oden has a classic Kanto-style seasoning that is very tasty. The daikon had soaked up a lot of flavor and was great. The fried rice was also delicious and offered good value for money.

The Kandayasan that appeared in Meguro seems to have great cost performance; not only that, the food and drinks are served quickly after ordering, which is really nice! There's enough space between the seats, so you can relax while you enjoy your meal. The portion sizes aren't too large, allowing you to try out various dishes since they're affordable. Just be careful with the fried chicken, as it's quite substantial. There are various seasoning options, so you can choose based on your mood. The fried items are freshly cooked, and the grilled chicken skewers are served hot, which is satisfying. The negitoro and ikura rolled sushi had plenty of both negitoro and ikura on top. The tower lemon sour is also affordable, and the ability to refill is a delightful perk for drink enthusiasts. I'll definitely use this place again!

I visited "Kandaya Meguro Central Square" located just a minute walk from Meguro Station. It’s in the same building as popular spots like Standing Bar SHIN and Uokin. On a weekday around 7 PM, my colleague and I decided to drop by without any specific plans. The place was about 80% full, mostly with groups of customers enjoying the lively atmosphere. I had a beer while my colleague opted for an Instagram-worthy lemon sour that came topped with a mountain of lemon slices, which really boosted our spirits! We ordered the following dishes: - Young corn tempura seasoned with salt - Beef harami with plenty of green onions and ponzu sauce - Hand-rolled sushi with negitoro and ikura - Anchovy and mayo potato fries Given the price point, I wasn’t expecting too much from the food quality, but the hand-rolled sushi was visually appealing and very tasty, making us quite happy! A noteworthy highlight was the affordable beer—my favorite Sapporo Black Label was only 390 yen! I ended up enjoying quite a few beers. Since it’s so close to the station, I think it’s a great spot for a quick drink like a pre-party. Thank you for the meal!

I went out for an errand and had a solo meal in Meguro on my way back. I visited a restaurant that had caught my attention for a while. This place offers incredibly reasonable prices and excellent cost-performance! They have a lineup of small portion dishes for a reasonable price, making it a great spot for middle-aged salarymen. Additionally, it's located on the first floor of the Central Square right in front of Meguro Station, and both the interior and exterior are very clean and hygienic, making it a welcoming place even for women diners. I ordered pickled eggplant and cucumber, stewed beef tendon with radish, and Kandayaya fried rice, along with one draft beer and two cups of shochu with oden broth, all for under 3,000 yen. The service was quick and smooth, with no issues at all. It’s a place I can definitely recommend!

There’s a new restaurant next to Ushokin that is always crowded. I visited around 11 AM, so I was able to get in without any trouble. The menu features set meals centered around fish. The dish I ordered (was it flatfish?) was quite small. Unfortunately, I had to follow a meal restriction for a medical examination the next day, so I couldn’t eat the ingredients in the miso soup, which was disappointing. Considering the price of 1,100 yen, I wouldn’t say it offers great value for money. After 12 PM, people started pouring in, and it was indeed busy.

The building is beautiful, and the interior of the shop is clean and comfortable. There is a wide variety of snacks, all of which were delicious. I especially recommend the fried chicken. The prices on the menu weren't too high either, which was nice. Two guys ordered what they wanted and spent about 4,000 yen each. I think it would be even better if there were an all-you-can-drink option available.

Overall, the prices were low, so the portion sizes were just right for tasting a variety of dishes. There were quite a few unique menu items, and I really enjoyed dishes like "deep-fried daikon oden" and "udon with oden-style fried tofu." The meals incorporating oden were delicious.

I visited this place with my senior colleague for our second stop. Since it was a Friday night, the whole area was buzzing with energy. We managed to get in just as a table became available. The highlight of this restaurant is that you can choose from various small dishes at very reasonable prices in small portions. There are so many options that you never get bored. For the finale, we had the Napoli-style spaghetti, and the vice sour cocktail was excellent.

I had lunch at Kandayama Meguro Central Square. It's located right next to Meguro Station, in the Central Square, next to Uokin, and it's quite popular. There are various grilled fish dishes on the menu, and I ended up choosing the simmered red snapper set meal. Although the red snapper is on the smaller side, it tastes delicious. It goes perfectly with rice, as you'd expect. At 1,300 yen for the simmered red snapper, it's a great deal. It also seems like a good option for dinner. Thank you for the meal! I will come again.

I was surprised to find melon cream sour on the menu. I asked for a lighter alcohol mix, and I really liked it. I thought the prices were low, and even though the dishes were small, they were all delicious. The flavor of the daikon in the oden and the fried daikon was very comforting. The taste and firmness of the noodles in the a-go dashi ramen were just right and delicious. Next time, I want to try a different menu item.

You can order dishes starting from around 200 yen each. It might be hard to tell from the photos, but the plates are slightly smaller. For a small group drinking together, the portions are just about right. Taste: From what I ordered, there were no misses. Considering the price, there were absolutely no issues. Service: Ordering is self-service. There was only one staff member out front. Atmosphere: It seems to be a repurposed space, possibly from a bar, so it’s a bit different from what I imagined a typical tavern would be. It's quite bright inside. Cost-Performance: Given the portion sizes, it's quite decent. For a small group, it could be nice to sample a variety of dishes.

I stopped by for lunch after my class, and I found this place to be very cost-effective, making me want to return. Being a part-time working housewife, I have a habit of ordering fried foods when dining out, so I ended up getting mainly fried dishes. The thick fried tofu was made from real tofu and nicely deep-fried. In Kansai, I would prefer it as agedashi tofu, but here it came served with green onions, ginger, and soy sauce. Since the value for money is great, I think I will visit again.

I recently discovered a new izakaya called "Kandaya Meguro Central Square" located about a 2-minute walk from Meguro Station. The atmosphere inside is lively, and they offer a wide range of dishes from seafood to yakitori, so there seems to be plenty to enjoy. The prices are also reasonable, making it great value for money. I heard you can drink during the day, so I plan to go back for an afternoon drink sometime. ◆ Ordered menu items: - Oden - Beef tendon stew with daikon - Rolled cabbage - Three types of fish skewers - Salmon roe sushi roll - Salt-fried young corn - Stir-fried eggs with green chili

At the second bar, when I ordered a tomato drink as my second beverage, I was a bit surprised to see the tomato juice in a can and the shochu in a separate glass. It was fun, though! The Toro Taku Tower was delicious, and the salted young corn that was deep-fried was absolutely perfect! It really made me want to keep drinking.

This is a budget chain izakaya operated by Ten Ahraid, famous for places like Tengusakaba. There is a seating fee of 165 yen per person. The menu features items such as oden, tuna and pickled mackerel rolls, and fish skewers. Due to the limited table space per seating area, many dishes are served in small plates, which are also designed to be visually appealing. Overall, the food is quite tasty for the price! In particular, the salt-grilled chicken meatballs are filling, and the dried mackerel skewers are surprisingly substantial for just 176 yen. On the downside, the portion of potato fries was disappointing. It's not the place to choose if you want to relax and drink slowly, but it’s perfect for a quick drink after work, offering great cost performance.

Wow, I stepped on a landmine after a long time. I checked the all-you-can-drink deal, went to pick up a friend, and when we got back, they told us it was no longer available (I checked the sign at 15:40, and we returned to the restaurant at 15:50). They had hidden the sign and acted as if nothing was wrong. Normally, they would at least say something like, "Oh, there's still time." When we sat down, the draft beer I ordered was delicious, so that was a plus. However, I was shocked by the food that came out afterward! The tuna platter, which was shown in the menu as a large serving, was actually served in a ridiculously small box. They served a small amount of sashimi that cost over 500 yen using our preconceived notion of what a typical box size should be (laughs). In a way, that's impressive (laughs). Since similar dishes kept coming out, after finishing two beers, we left and went to the French bistro across the street. I think the restaurant deserves a rating of 2 stars. Everyone, please be cautious. Oh, by the way, the food was tasty; it just didn’t match my sense of cost performance at all.

The grilled fish stock oden was paired with stuffed cabbage rolls, tuna sashimi, and young corn for a quick midday drink! The fish stock was a bit too sweet for my liking; I was expecting a more roasted flavor with a unique taste, so I was disappointed. The tuna was average. The young corn was a little too salty. It's great that the prices are low! The surrounding shops also encourage daytime drinking, and I appreciate that they have continuous service and diligent foreign staff!

Is the restaurant name different for day and night...? Anyway, I decided to enter during the day this time. I ordered the thick-cut grilled silver salmon for 990 yen, and it turned out to be quite a generous portion and delicious. It really goes well with rice! When I crave grilled fish again, I'll definitely come back! Thank you for the meal! (*´▽`*)

I thought this kind of restaurant might be hard to find in Meguro, but there are plenty of places like this in Gotanda. I'm not sure if it's worth the visit. Even though it has a cheap vibe, the prices end up being higher than expected, so I didn't feel it offered good value for money. On the plus side, it's great that it's child-friendly!
