Memories came flooding back as I entered the Omoide Shokudo restaurant, although I couldn't quite recall what the previous shop was. There were various items on the menu, but I decided to order the Omoide Don, which is the specialty of the restaurant. Soon enough, the dish arrived, and the large shrimp button made quite an impression. The bowl was topped with tuna, salmon, scallops, salmon roe, egg, and shiso leaves, all laid out on freshly cooked rice. The tuna had a subtle balance of acidity, sweetness, and umami, while the salmon had a smooth texture and was quite delicious. The scallops were thick and had a firm yet tender standard taste, and the salmon roe had a good texture and just the right amount of saltiness. The soy sauce and other seasonings complemented the dish well, and I could enjoy the soft skin of the shrimp while savoring the flavors. The egg was a classic style. The horse prawn was large and satisfying to eat, with the head part adding a slight dashi flavor when added to the miso soup, allowing me to enjoy the crunchy and tender texture of the shrimp. The miso soup also contained crab meat with a firm and tasty texture, retaining the full flavor of the crab. The cheerful and friendly hostess made the dining experience even more pleasant, and with the help of a coupon from Tabelog, I was able to enjoy the meal at a discounted price. This was the newest establishment in the vicinity of the Central Wholesale Market, with a fresh interior and Kirin beer posters on the walls. It seemed like a great place to enjoy seafood dishes like seafood grill and sashimi while sipping on beer. The restaurant was also designed to cater to overseas tourists, but I felt that local residents could also comfortably dine there. With no other customers at the time, the atmosphere was relatively quiet, and the spacious layout of the tables allowed for a relaxed dining experience. I look forward to coming back to enjoy a morning drink, not just for a daytime drink.
