On May 6, 2023, at 9:00, I visited Sankeido in Furano for the 7th time to buy wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets) as an offering for the pre-funeral service the day before my grandmother's 13th memorial service. It had been a while since my last visit on September 18, 2021. I was worried that my father might be tired of wagashi every time I visited, so the time before last, I purposely brought something different. However, my mother later told me that my father had been looking forward to the wagashi and was disappointed. So, this time, I made sure to call ahead and confirm before visiting with my wife as soon as the store opened. I bought all of my grandfather's favorite wagashi: shimaenaga (302 yen), tsutsuji (270 yen), mizubasho (270 yen), tanpopo (270 yen), shinryoku (270 yen), and fuji (270 yen). The beautifully packaged wagashi made us all sigh in amazement. I forgot to take a picture~ Since it was for the funeral service, I also requested wrapping. The next day, my grandfather was very pleased when he opened the box. My sister and mother also exclaimed, "Wow, it's so beautiful!" My grandfather, please look forward to receiving wagashi from Sankeido every time I visit in the future. Thank you so much, Sankeido, for always providing the best wagashi. We all enjoyed it happily together this time too!

Sankeido, I was casually cleaning up my car when I came across a dorayaki. I was surprised to find a snack that I had forgotten about. It was from Sapporo, and I must have missed it when unloading the car. I bought a lot of them, so it's no wonder I missed one. I decided to try it, and it turned out to be a delicious dorayaki with a rich color and a moist, not dry texture. The sweetness of the dough was just right, and the red bean paste inside was not too sweet either. Overall, it was a light and tasty dorayaki. I apologize for forgetting about it.

July 22, 2021 (Thursday) 12:25 It's the second day of my revisit to my hometown and it's a clear day. I returned to Sapporo from the pension in Niseko via the Sapporo-Otaru Road and came straight to this shop. I bought some Wagashi, which my grandpa loves, as I will be visiting the family grave in Furano the next day. This time, they had six different types of Wagashi made from cowhide, including the cute Shimaenaga cowhide. The next day, my grandpa was so happy and made tea himself, enjoying the Wagashi while watching the Tokyo Olympics on TV. Thank you as always, Mieedo! I will visit again, so please continue to provide Wagashi that will make my grandpa happy!

Visited for the 4th time before returning to my hometown. I purchased "Wasei" for grandpa. Since my visit was going to be in the evening, I called the store at 9:00 to reserve 6 types of Wasei. I learned from Instagram and called, but it seems that the new items for May have already started today. However, phone reservations are great~ I received various polite instructions. This time, in addition to Wasei, I also tried the signature product, Dorayaki. It was delicious! The dough was moist and tasty. The butter and red bean paste were very delicious. Next time, I will buy this too. I think the quality of Sankeido is quite impressive.

On February 19, 2021, I will visit my parents' house in Furano tomorrow. As a gift, I brought Jiji's favorite Wagashi. This is my third visit. It feels like a routine now. This time, the new creations from January are lined up in the showcase. The Wagashi here always look stunning. And of course, they taste amazing. I bought 6 pieces including the "Uguisu" with egg yolk filling and the seasonal "Zansetsu". They should be consumed within 3 days in a cool, dark place. The next day, Jiji was in a great mood, brewing tea and enjoying the Wagashi right away.

2020.12.31 (Thu) 10:00 Visited my parents' house in Furano again because my father really wanted to see me. I know some people may criticize us for meeting during these times, but we decided to show our faces just a little bit for New Year's. I brought a gift of "Washo," which my dad loves. I've been searching for delicious Washo for a long time, and I recently found a shop thanks to a review on Tabelog. When I visited the shop the other day, I heard that they will be selling a New Year's version on the 31st, so I revisited quickly. The Washo displayed there were so colorful and beautiful! I was planning to get the 8-piece set, but there were so many to choose from that I couldn't decide. I want to buy them all! I'll give them to my little one tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing my dad's happy face. Thank you again today, Sankeido. Have a wonderful New Year.

2020.12.25 (Fri) 14:30 First Visit My father loves wagashi (traditional Japanese sweets). He always refers to wagashi as "wasei." Whenever I visit my parents' house, I always look for "wasei" as a gift for my father. However, the ones from major confectionery stores often lack the handmade feel and are frequently sold out. In such times, I came across a review from a reviewer I follow. I decided to try it as a New Year's gift for the first visit of the year. The verdict: this is the "wasei" I was looking for! It was delicious, made with care, and conveyed a heartfelt message. It was moist and tasty. My father will surely be delighted! I will buy it on the 31st and bring it on January 1st. Thanks to Tabelog and the reviewers, I can show my father a small act of filial piety.

- Nishi-machi dorayaki with butter, 216 yen This is the most popular dorayaki at the store! It doesn't really look like a traditional dorayaki though. It has butter in it, but it's not too heavy, and it goes well with the sweet red bean paste, making it delicious. - Dorayaki, 162 yen It's tasty, but I wish the cake part was a bit more moist. Overall, it was a good meal!

Due to poor health, I had to take a break from work for the third time, but I managed to make it to the opening of "Overeating and Overweight Theater Act 4". I will be returning to work while consulting my health for a while. Likes and comments may be delayed, but I plan to visit eventually, even if it takes some time. Thank you for your understanding. [November 2020] This is my 7th review, so I decided to visit the shop again after a long time. The store was renovated and looked clean. The number of items for sale has decreased, and the layout is more compact. They mainly focus on "Jouwa Seikashi" by Mikado, with fewer other items available. Mikado's "Jouwa Seikashi" is top-notch in Sapporo. The delicate nature of Mikado's sweets truly embodies the essence of Japan. Their seasonal sweets are perfect for enjoying the changing seasons. The "Ichigo Mousse Daifuku" is small but satisfying, with a creamy strawberry mousse inside a soft mochi skin. Mikado's sweets are a taste of Japan that pairs perfectly with elegant Japanese tea or matcha. My encounter with Mikado's sweets reminds me of my high school days during the cultural festival, where I used to enjoy tea ceremonies and traditional Japanese sweets. The memories of those days always bring me back to Mikado's shop. I am also eagerly following the "Ryuoh-sen" challenge by Hanyu Kudan. In the world of shogi, it is said that 50 years old is the limit for professionals to win titles. Even the great Hanyu Kudan lost his titles before turning 50. I hope he can become the oldest title holder in the future. I wonder which "Jouwa Seikashi" I will try next time. Each one allows you to savor the four seasons of Japan. Delicious, thank you for the treat.

I ate ramen around Kikusu and came here. I'm feeling a bit dizzy due to lack of sugar! Haha Let's get some sweets and debut in the park! There is a traditional Japanese sweets shop in the residential area. I thought it would be spacious inside because there is plenty of parking, but it's actually quite small and feels crowded with 2-3 people. I bought plum dorayaki and daifuku with red bean paste. Let's replenish the sugar right away. First, the plum dorayaki. When I split it open, there is a green plum inside! The white bean paste is quite sweet. The sourness of the plum is nicely balanced by the sweetness. The dorayaki overall is a bit too sweet! You can feel the sugar running through your veins. Next, the daifuku with red bean paste. The mochi is soft and fluffy! This one is also quite sweet. Makes you crave bitter green tea! I don't need sugar for a while! Haha Thank you for the meal!

Located one street away from the market street of Nijuyonken is a Japanese confectionery shop called "Sankeido." I often wander around the area, but I never knew there was a shop here... Thank you, Tabelog! There are about 4-5 parking spaces in front of the shop. The interior is small and can probably fit 2-3 people. I purchased the "Nishimachi Dorayaki." This is interesting... There is butter in the middle of the sweet red bean paste, which melts in your mouth and adds a nice salty accent to the paste. It's delicious! The "Mame Daifuku" has a small and soft mochi with walnuts inside, giving a nice texture. The sweet red bean paste is not too sweet, and I like the firm texture of the beans. The regular Dorayaki is just like any other, with a slightly chewy skin and mildly sweet red bean paste. I'm curious about the other products, so I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal!

On a certain weekday, I had the opportunity to visit a Japanese confectionery shop in the neighborhood for lunch. Located in the Nijuyonken area, the shop seemed to have been recently renovated with a compact interior and a display of artistic and familiar Japanese sweets in glass showcases. From the menu, I chose a few items that caught my eye. The "Chuurippu (250 yen)" was a cute nerikiri sweet that had a firm white bean paste filling, typical of Japanese sweets. The "Nishimachi dorayaki (173 yen)" was the most popular item, and the addition of butter made it moist and enhanced the sweetness of the red bean paste. I also got the "Mame daifuku (135 yen)" which was a must-buy for me, with a soft mochi outer layer, sweet red bean paste, and black beans on the surface creating a good harmony. I also tried the "Kusa daifuku (135 yen)" which had a good balance between the sweet bean paste and the grassy flavor. Lastly, I couldn't resist the seasonal "Sakura dorayaki (205 yen)" with a unique combination of sakura mochi and saltiness with the traditional dorayaki. Despite not being a fan of overly sweet treats, I appreciated the craftsmanship and artistry of the nerikiri sweets. Thank you for the delicious meal.

After a break of about 4 years due to hospitalizations, I visited the restaurant again for the 6th time in May 2018. The place had been renovated and looked very clean. The selection of items was smaller than before, with a focus on "Uwakashi Wagashi" that I like. I tried the "Uwakashi Wagashi" which included varieties like Hanafubuki, Shinku Bara Nerikiri, and Koshi An Tsubame Youkan, priced between 205 yen to 227 yen. The delicate taste of "Uwakashi Wagashi" truly captures the essence of Japan. It pairs perfectly with a refined Japanese tea or matcha. I reminisced about my high school days during the cultural festival, where I encountered "Uwakashi Wagashi" and learned to appreciate it. The highlight for me in May was the upcoming match between Sohta Fujii and Kouta Funaie in the Ryuo Tournament. Fujii was on the verge of becoming the youngest ever to reach the seventh dan rank. However, Funaie is known as a "Fujii Killer," having defeated Fujii's mentors and peers in the past. It will be an exciting match to watch. Overall, it was a delicious meal and a pleasant experience.

After finishing my errands at Nijuyonken, I decided to buy some sweets on my way back and came across this place while searching. I remembered visiting a friend's house around here in the past and sometimes having their dorayaki, so I felt nostalgic and decided to stop by. When I visited the shop after a long time, I noticed that the building had been renovated and the parking lot was neatly maintained. Inside the store, a female staff member appeared from the back. There were five types of dorayaki in the showcase, which made it a bit difficult to choose. After some consideration, I chose chestnut and mochi dorayaki, and also bought a seasonal limited edition Mizu-yokan as a souvenir. The dorayaki had a moist texture, not heavy, and easy to eat. The chestnut dorayaki had small pieces of chestnut inside, while the mochi had a thin layer of sweetened rice cake. The red bean paste was chunky, so you could taste the texture and flavor of the azuki beans. It was delicious, even after not having it for a long time. The Mizu-yokan had a restrained sweetness and a slightly firm texture. Personally, I prefer it with less agar, but it was still enjoyable. I think I'll come back to try a different flavor of dorayaki next time. Thank you for the meal.

◆◆◆◆◆◆ [5th Post] ◆◆◆◆◆◆ [July 2014] For the 5th post, let's lightly touch on summer wagashi. ■ Asagao (Morning Glory) The outer layer is made of cowhide, and the inside is filled with yellow bean paste. A symbol of summer, morning glories. When I was in elementary school, I used to write observation diaries during summer vacation. Price: 216 yen (including 8% consumption tax) ■ Ajisai (Hydrangea) Nerikiri Flower The language of flowers includes "fickleness," "arrogance," and "energetic woman," among others. July 17th is "Ajisai Memorial Day," the anniversary of Yujiro Ishihara's death. In the hydrangea rain A weak body Was it because you forced yourself too much? With heavy makeup Changing colors while withering and lonely falling Rain, rain, hydrangea rain Your white face shrouded in smoke Price: 227 yen (including 8% consumption tax) Summer is a season that brings back various memories. It is a season where new memories linger in the heart. ◆◆◆◆◆◆ [4th Post] ◆◆◆◆◆◆ Dreaming of the distant spring with Sankeido's wagashi [January 2014] For the 4th post, let's lightly touch on the season of January. While Sapporo is in the midst of severe winter, the calendar already shows spring. Spring wagashi are displayed. ■ Sankakusou (Triangle Grass) Also known as "Yukiwari-sou." Long under the cold snow, waiting for the day the flowers bloom. It has an elegant charm that makes you unable to resist buying and eating. Price: 189 yen ■ Haru Usagi (Spring Rabbit) A white rabbit jumping around the fields and mountains in spring. It is also a symbol of the mountains. In the past, it was said to be pounding mochi on the moon, but it's a rabbit... The charm is fading slightly over time, a bit melancholic. Price: 189 yen ■ Ume (Plum) The plum blossoms of Hokkaido bloom in April. In April, the snow begins to melt. Finally ending the long harsh winter. It is almost the same season as cherry blossoms. The people of Hokkaido are eagerly awaiting the distant spring. The wagashi is made of mochi and plum paste, with a slightly refreshing taste of plum paste. Price: 189 yen I want to feel the breath of spring soon, but I can't hear its footsteps yet. The season of January and February is a season of patience. The language of flowers for "Sankakusou" also includes patience. While enjoying Sankeido's wagashi, I eagerly await the arrival of spring. Dreaming of a world of fresh greenery. ◆◆◆◆◆◆ [3rd Post] ◆◆◆◆◆◆ The arrival of autumn in Sapporo [September 2012] For the 3rd post, let's lightly touch on the belated arrival of autumn in Sapporo. The interior of Sankeido also has an autumnal atmosphere. ■ Kanchouji The language of flowers is "enslaved by you." Once you see it, you can't help but buy and eat it. Price: 189 yen For those you love, try giving it as a gift. ■ Akigiku (Autumn Chrysanthemum) Autumn is the season of chrysanthemums. Inside is smooth bean paste. Price: 189 yen In the autumn of Yodo, cherry blossoms bloomed. (From Sakura Cluster, "Cherry blossoms in full bloom in the season of chrysanthemums," in the famous tone of Mr. Sugimoto) A local wagashi closely tied to Sapporo ■ Sankakuyama The surroundings are white chocolate with white bean paste and haskap flavor. The faint sourness of haskap complements the subdued sweetness well. Price: 126 yen A mountain where I skied during high school ski classes ■ Araiyama A small mountain in the Enzan area. There is a junior ski jump hill, and many famous Olympic athletes have grown from here. It is like a holy land in the ski jumping world. Hokkaido-style with potato paste and cinnamon flavor, evoking nostalgia. Price: 126 yen These are wagashi that taste like the local Sapporo. ◆◆◆◆◆◆ [2nd Post] ◆◆◆◆◆◆ [January 2012] For the 2nd post, let's lightly touch on the current weather in Sapporo. Today's high temperature in Sapporo is -5 degrees Celsius. The low temperature is -10 degrees Celsius, with winter in full swing. The whole city is like a freezer. It's not a positive temperature like in a refrigerator, it's more like a refrigerator setting of around 6 degrees Celsius, a warm spring temperature. While the city is in winter, the wagashi at the shops are featuring plum and peach, signaling an early spring. Additional photos: Wagashi "Ume" and "Momo" Daifuku Rare cheesecake Daifuku Strawberry mousse Daifuku In Sapporo's severe winter, it feels like the lights are on. That's the feeling Sankeido's wagashi gives.

I went to a shop after hearing from a friend that they have dorayaki with butter. It is located near Uniqlo in Hachiken. The Nishimachi dorayaki (157 yen) is not round, but folded. It originated from the staff's meal where they put butter on the end of dorayaki skin. The saltiness of the butter wrapped in sweet bean paste enhances the sweetness, creating a creamy texture. The butter is quite rich, and the balance between the sweetness of the bean paste and the saltiness of the butter is just right. They also offer a variety of other traditional Japanese sweets, including different types of dorayaki, manju, and cold mousse daifuku.

I visited Sankeidou, a traditional Japanese sweets shop located in Nijuyonken. The shop is a large standalone building with a subtle exterior, tucked away behind Uniqlo. It may be a bit hard to find as it's slightly off the main road. The shop has a spacious parking lot and a cozy interior with a variety of traditional Japanese sweets on display in glass cases. The selection includes colorful wagashi, classic anko-filled dorayaki, and a wide range of dorayaki flavors. They also offer unique sweets like a mousse-filled dorayaki with a Western twist. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was inviting. I purchased the Nishimachi dorayaki, which had butter chunks inside, giving it a rich flavor. The Mochi dorayaki had a soft and sweet white bean paste filling. The grape-flavored wagashi had a delicate appearance and a rich taste. The small Azuki bean daifuku was a bit dry, but the Okinawan daifuku with black sugar paste was smooth and delicious. Overall, the sweets were reasonably priced and showed the shop's skillful craftsmanship. I look forward to trying their chilled sweets for the upcoming season.

It's a store located near Uniqlo in Nijūyonken, quietly tucked away with a sign that was hard to find, but I finally discovered it. It's an old-fashioned Japanese confectionery shop with various traditional sweets and fresh Japanese sweets. Among them, the recommended item is the original butter Dorayaki. At first glance, it looks like a regular Dorayaki, but when I looked at the ingredients, it said "butter." I tried it because it was mentioned in a review by someone who was worried about eating too much and gaining weight, and surprisingly, it was a good match. I was impressed by the unexpected combination. I usually eat overly sweet sweets, so I felt the contrast with this light and refreshing sweetness. The Mitarashi dango, a small round dumpling with a mildly sweet soy sauce, was also a good match. I was also curious about the fresh Japanese sweets, but I decided to pass this time because the Mizumanju that opened in Maruyama was more appealing.
