[Takeout] In Bibai City, Hokkaido Sorachi District, which used to thrive as a coal mine and now flourishes with agriculture centered around rice, there is a long-standing direct sales corner for agricultural products. It's a familiar style in rural Japan, with vegetables and fruits displayed in a small unmanned hut. I highly recommend the freshly picked asparagus in early summer! The farm is located in Mitsuru, Bibai City (the station name doesn't convert to kanji), along Route 12. Just cross the pedestrian bridge towards the center of Bibai City. Revisited on July 17, 2021, at 12 PM. After enduring days of nearly 30-degree temperatures without rain, it was a relief to have tomatoes on hand during my cycling trips. They stay fresh even in the heat and help replenish water and potassium. I always buy tomatoes here when passing by. Mini tomatoes (Aiko) are 100 yen for 2 packs, and medium-sized tomatoes are 100 yen for 1 pack. One pack was offered as an offering to the local deity along the way, ensuring a smooth journey. Despite abnormal weather affecting tomato crops this year, the tomatoes here are exceptionally delicious. Their perfect ripeness and flavor boost helped me maintain a high pace all the way to Takikawa from New Sapporo. The total cycling time was 3 hours and 10 minutes, covering a distance of 77.11 km at an average speed of 24.2 km/h, with a top speed of 44.7 km/h.
