If I were to take my father to a place for a one-night stay that is close by, I would choose Asari River Hot Spring. I made a reservation here considering the price, size, and food. I didn't have high expectations for the hot spring water itself, as long as the bath wasn't too far from the room. The bath was right after getting off the elevator, and there was also a rock bath available for an additional fee of around 300 yen. The reception closes at 8 pm, so I didn't use it. Private baths can also be reserved. The hot spring water had a faint smell of chlorine due to added water, heating, and circulation. I used to live near a good hot spring and could afford to bathe in it cheaply, and looking back, I realize how luxurious that was. Still, the small scale of this place meant that the bath was never crowded, and I could relax. Dinner was served in the dining area. They asked for the time when checking in. Room service was also available, and the corridor was lively in the evening. The dining area had private rooms, which I thought was nice. Most of the dishes were already prepared, and the fried flounder was brought out later. Probably a part-time female employee, she only provided necessary explanations about the dishes (such as how to cook on a hot plate), but since there was a menu, explanations were not necessary. There were many different dishes, and it seemed that they used a lot of Odaka enzymes. I particularly enjoyed the fresh cod milt tofu, but the best dish was the rice sushi with sandfish. If they made it here, that would be amazing, but even if it's from a good sushi restaurant in Otaru, I think they choose good quality. What I thought was unnecessary was the dessert tart, which should prioritize taste over appearance. Breakfast was served in a different breakfast venue from dinner, with a set meal served and seaweed, egg, natto available for self-service, along with almond jelly. These days, sometimes a set meal is tastier than a buffet, and the side dishes here were a bit on the rich side. The bottled milk from Yamanaka Farm was excellent. After the meal, you move to the coffee corner for coffee (self-service), but the place was cold and not conducive to relaxing. Despite the cold, the staff saw us off outside, thank you for taking care of us.
