Today I visited my parents' home in Furano. We wanted to have lunch at a popular place, but the line was too long. So, we ended up coming to this restaurant instead. My wife and grandma love the cocoa here. Grandpa ordered the steak set meal, while the rest of us had hamburger curry. The hamburger was soft and fluffy, but I wish it had more meat. The curry sauce was delicious though. Grandpa and my little one went back home right after eating. My wife and grandma wanted to have tea, so they are currently enjoying cocoa together. They are chatting and relaxing over the well-made cocoa. It was a lovely late summer moment. Thank you for the delicious meal.

The photos posted by everyone seem to be of banquet menu items, so unfortunately, I couldn't try the grilled seafood. The Caesar salad was a little disappointing as it was different from my concept. The beef red wine stew was tender and flavorful.

On a day off with good weather, I decided to venture out and ended up at a restaurant I didn't originally plan to visit. Since my initial choice was closed, I had to find an alternative. I stumbled upon a place offering a variety of Western dishes like pasta, curry, pizza, and hamburger plates. I opted for Beef Stroganoff with garlic rice and Beef Tongue in red wine sauce with a side of coffee or tea. The dishes arrived looking appetizing, with the Beef Stroganoff having a nice garlic flavor and creamy texture, while the Beef Tongue was incredibly tender. The garlic rice was flavorful and slightly rich, perfect for pairing with beer. My companion was intrigued by the fried chicken for takeout, and I'm already planning to try the bone-in chicken curry on my next visit. Overall, a satisfying dining experience worth returning for.

I ordered pasta for lunch. The pasta was chewy and delicious at first, but the flavor was bland. The hamburger was fluffy.

The food was decently good, but the service from the older lady made me feel uncomfortable. I probably won't be going back again.

The restaurant recommended by the owner of the pension for families with children is a great find! The owner mentioned that locals also frequent this place, and every dish is delicious without any disappointments. The pasta and pizza, which I didn't have high expectations for, turned out to be surprisingly tasty with rich tomato sauce that tasted homemade. Both kids and adults enjoyed the food. The prices are fair, making it a very honest and recommendable restaurant. I would definitely visit regularly if it were closer. Highly recommended for those staying in hotels in Furano without meals included!

Today, I went on a drive to Furano for a little outing as I am looking forward to spring and feeling a bit scared of driving in winter. One of the restaurants I had planned to visit last year but missed out on was Kaifuudo in Furano. I tried their pumpkin soup which was absolutely delicious! It was a random lunch soup made by the owner, but it was so tasty and addictive. I also tried a bit of the juicy and flavorful hamburger steak from the owner's lunch set, and it was satisfying. The pasta with shrimp and basil that I ordered was surprisingly delicious, even though I usually don't go for basil pasta. The homemade bread was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. For dessert, I had a perfect pudding that was not too firm or too soft, just the right amount of sweetness. The portion sizes were a bit small, but the quality of the food was excellent. The restaurant seemed popular with local office ladies and families. I would love to try their pizza or curry next time. Since I was in Furano, I decided to enjoy some sweets as well. Stay tuned for the next part! Thank you for the delicious meal!

*---(Revisited in April 2010) We used "Kaifudo" for a welcome party at work. We opted for the organizer's course, which cost around 3800 yen per person for the food. We were allowed to bring our own alcohol. Overall, the content was very reasonable, with ample volume and some unique dishes that kept us entertained. The tuna carpaccio, international-style spring rolls, grilled seafood, and salmon gratin were particularly delicious. We ended with plain pizza and sherbet. If you specify the number of people, budget, and any specific dishes you'd like, you can have a lavish dinner at this restaurant. The dishes we had for my son's celebration of advancing in his studies are still talked about in my family. We spent 4000 yen for 4 people. You can enjoy dishes that are quite different from the regular menu at a lower cost, so tourists might want to consider making a reservation.
(Initially reviewed in December 2009) I visited "Kaifudo" again after a long time. I arrived around 6:30 pm on a weekday, and there were about 2 groups of customers before us. The cozy interior allows for a relaxing meal if there are no noisy customers. The menu hadn't changed much from before, but the prices had increased. My companion ordered carbonara, and I chose the "Gin Kushiyaki" that I've always liked. The dishes arrived promptly. The carbonara had more volume than it appeared, and would be sufficient for those with an average appetite. As someone who eats a lot, the Gin Kushiyaki with one piece of bread only filled me up about 60%. If you add rice, you might feel a bit more satisfied. It's not a cheap restaurant, but it offers stylish and delicious food. The "Papa's Whim Set" is a popular choice here, where you can choose between hamburger or steak (quite thin). The portions are small, catering more towards women. Please note that this restaurant does not serve the "Furano Om Curry." All dishes are prepared to some extent, so the wait time is not too long. They also cater to banquets. When we had a meal for around 3000 yen, we received quite a lot of delicious dishes, such as baked oysters and lasagna, which were well received.

The hamburg steak in the "Yokubari Set" was juicy and delicious, and the steak was tender. The sauce was also incredibly tasty!

A standalone house restaurant located a bit away from the center where eateries are clustered. They offer a variety of Western dishes such as curry, pizza, pasta, hamburg steak, and pilaf, with consistent quality. While many restaurants in Furano close early, this place stays open relatively late, making it convenient. It's family-friendly, but smoking is allowed, so you might end up eating while inhaling smoke if you're unlucky.

Located about a 5-minute walk from JR Furano Station, this restaurant has a cute exterior that perfectly fits its name, "Small Western-style eatery in town." I ordered the Seafood Cream Pilaf for 1000 yen, while my friend had the Beef Red Wine Stew for 1400 yen. Other than rice dishes like curry and pilaf, the menu consists of individual items, with rice or bread and coffee or tea available as a set for an additional charge. The Seafood Cream Pilaf was delicious, with colored rice topped with white sauce containing shrimp, squid, and mushrooms. The Beef Red Wine Stew was tender and served with warm vegetables. However, both dishes lacked in portion size. I finished the pilaf feeling satisfied, but a man might find it less filling. My male companion later devoured a Furano Burger at another restaurant. Therefore, the prices may seem a bit high considering the portion sizes. The menu also includes pizza, pasta, and soup curry, with a variety of homemade cakes and ice cream for dessert. Overall, the food was tasty! The restaurant has table seating on the first floor and tatami seating on the second floor. The natural and comforting atmosphere, along with friendly service, made for a pleasant dining experience. Families were also seen dining here. Smoking is allowed, and there is parking available nearby (right next to the restaurant and across the road on the unpaved square).

A cozy, homey restaurant run by a couple. I visited while traveling in Furano by car. I had the hamburger, and it was delicious. With salad, drink, and dessert included at this price, it feels like a great deal, especially coming from Tokyo. There aren't many restaurants like this nearby, so if I lived in the area, I would definitely come here often. The service is mainly done by the owner, who gives you space but is attentive when needed (laughs).

When I went on a trip to Furano in July, I was unsure of where to go, but I decided to visit this restaurant as it seemed like a basic choice. It appeared to be run by a couple, and had a homely atmosphere which was nice. The food was not exceptionally delicious, but it met my expectations. I tried the seafood salad, pizza, and wine-stewed meat, all of which were tasty and comforting. When it came time to pay, I was pleasantly surprised as I had consumed quite a bit of wine and beer, but the bill was lower than I had anticipated. This restaurant is not trying to be flashy, but it offers delicious and reliable dishes at a good value. I highly recommend it.
