■Italian-style Soup Curry?
Today I had work in Asahikawa. The local salesperson, who knows I love curry, took me to this place. It's right near Asahikawa Medical University, but with my poor sense of direction, I would never be able to find it on my own... (laughs)
White walls, black chairs...the interior is chic and clean.
I ordered the chicken, which is a classic choice for me at new restaurants.
Bone-in Chicken Vegeta 1080 yen
Spiciness level 10 (out of 10)
Extra rice (free)
The soup, with basil floating on top, has a slight thickness to it. After taking a sip, I thought, "Wow!" The perfect balance of the sweetness of sautéed onions, the light acidity of tomatoes, the clean umami of beef bones (not chicken bones as I originally thought), and the soft sweetness of the vegetable soup. The balance of these flavors is excellent, creating an indescribable deliciousness. It's different from any other restaurant...it has a taste reminiscent of bouillon...could this be an Italian touch?
The chicken is not too tough or too soft, with a subtle herbal flavor that's distinctly Italian.
The eggplant is juicy and tender, the carrots melt in your mouth, the bell peppers are crisp and fragrant, the asparagus has a satisfying crunch and aroma, and the sweet potatoes are as sweet as candy. Each vegetable asserts itself as if saying, "I am the star of this dish." Unexpectedly delicious curry.
The rice is topped with fried parsley and lightly seasoned, showing attention to detail. When the staff suggested squeezing lemon over the rice, I tried it immediately. Wow! The soup takes on a mellow flavor. This is also delicious. This soup curry is quite impressive. Would it be rude to say it was unexpectedly good? (laughs)
When I asked the person who seemed to be the owner, it turns out the chef is indeed from Italy. Just as I suspected! It was very delicious. Thank you for the meal!
