I stopped by on my way back from the Blue Pond. The restaurant seemed a bit intimidating at first, but it turned out to be very welcoming and cozy. The kids were adorable! The sushi set and Furano soba were delicious. The broth of the soba was excellent and the thin noodles were smooth and tasty. The sushi was also top-notch. Thank you for the wonderful meal! (っ˘ڡ˘ς)

The portion size is huge. Even men might struggle to finish it. The taste was good, but I was more focused on trying to finish it all rather than enjoying the flavors. I ordered a set of soba and sushi, but maybe ordering them separately would have been better?

I went to a new restaurant for the first time since the New Year! The reason I hadn't been there before is because I had the impression that it was expensive (laughs). Inside, there is traditional Japanese music playing and tatami mats, giving it a very sushi restaurant-like atmosphere. The front of the restaurant has a sushi counter, which is a nice touch! The menu has a variety of options, and while it's not too pricey, it still has that sushi restaurant price tag. So, I ordered the sushi and soba set for 1500 yen! Looking around the table, I noticed there was an ashtray. I'm not a big fan of ashtrays in sushi restaurants, even though I don't have a particularly sensitive nose or palate (laughs). After a reasonable wait, the sushi arrived. The soba was...well, it was just delicious. And the sushi was...oh! It's quite tasty! The softness of the rice complements the toppings really well! And the toppings were pretty fresh. Since this restaurant has been around for quite some time, it's actually quite nice. If I go again, I'd like to just have the sushi! Thank you for the meal.

Looking forward to the grand opening on June 1st and expecting fresh sushi toppings. I took on the challenge of the premium chirashi bowl priced at 4300 yen. Regular customers seemed to enjoy themselves, some arriving by car. I focused on savoring the food only. We were served a generous portion of beautifully arranged fresh toppings.

Tempura set meal at a sushi restaurant, priced at 1,800 yen, but with the Furano meal voucher, it was effectively 1,500 yen. It came with an extra shrimp tempura. Next time, I plan to try the fried fish or pork cutlet that I had during my first visit.

After visiting the graves with my parents, we had some time before lunch, so we decided to take a drive to Furano. I suggested going to the restaurant where my parents had their wedding reception almost 60 years ago, thinking they would be happy, but it turns out I was mistaken. They actually had their reception at a place called "Ichihara" in the neighboring town. I had always thought it was at "Ikedaya" (laughs). Since Ichihara is no longer in business, we decided to visit Ikedaya instead. It was quite crowded when we arrived, with a lot of activity on the second floor for a memorial service. After waiting for almost an hour, we were finally seated in a small raised area. The restaurant offered a variety of traditional Japanese dishes like sushi, tempura, soba, and rice bowls. It was a reliable and delicious meal, reflecting the changing times while maintaining the taste of a long-established restaurant. My elderly parents were happy and nostalgic.

This is a review of a representative restaurant in Furano, "Ikedaya". The restaurant is not often visited by individuals, but it is common for work-related banquets among the locals. The restaurant was completely burned down in a fire in 2006, but a new establishment was opened in 2007. The entrance is in a different direction now, and the interior is quite clean and stylish. The seating includes chairs for 4 people on the right side upon entry, a counter with 6 seats in front, and a sunken kotatsu-style seating area for 6 people at the back left. This time, we had a banquet in the sunken seating area. The second floor has 5 tatami rooms, which can accommodate up to 60 people when combined. The cuisine, including drinks, costs around 4000 yen. The tempura is a staple for banquets, and it has a unique flavor that differs slightly from urban tempura. The sushi is advertised as "Kyoto Sushi", with sweet and soft vinegared rice and a touch of soy sauce on the toppings. The wasabi is not very strong, which seems to be Ikedaya's style. Overall, it's a place where many people in Furano go for special occasions or to have meals delivered for events like funerals. The quality of the delivered meals is very reasonable, and enjoying Ikedaya's tempura and sushi at home is a treat.

I drove from Sapporo to visit this highly recommended restaurant. The clean interior and the friendly smiles of the staff made me feel welcomed, and I thought it was a great place! The menu is extensive, with photos for easy understanding. Although I didn't see any lunch menus on the day I visited, the prices seemed reasonable and affordable. The sushi was delicious, with plump toppings and a flavorful soy sauce. I was impressed by the quality of the sushi, similar to what I had in Kyoto. The staff, although changing a few times during my visit, were all clean and provided great service with a smile. I heard that the owner, Mr. Inoue, has started growing his own buckwheat for soba noodles, and the soba made from this flour was also excellent. Even the water tasted good, and the seasoning of the dipping sauce was perfect. I would love to visit Furano again just to enjoy this sushi.
