After a business trip, feeling tired... And today, there is one more task to tackle... On days like this, I want to choose "tonkatsu" for lunch. I usually go for the tonkatsu set meal, but lately, the number of set meal restaurants and local Chinese restaurants has decreased... Being overshadowed by chain stores, individual-owned shops have been disappearing, making it hard to find a place to eat. So, what should I have today? Tonkatsu is a must. I've seen ramen with tonkatsu on top lately. There's also tonkatsu on soba... But today, I'm going with curry katsu. The place I've never tried curry at before, Daimon-san, it is. My son had it before, and I had a bite, it was quite flavorful. They open at 11 am. So, let's go at 11 am. I arrived almost on time. The curtain wasn't out yet, but the owner who just came back in the car said, "I'll start now, so please wait a moment." I glanced at the menu, just to confirm if they have curry katsu. Ignoring other menu items. "Curry Katsu, spicy," I ordered. After ordering, I heard the sound of pounding meat. And soon after, the sound of it being put in oil, sizzling. Since they just opened, I thought the oil might not be hot yet, but they were already prepared! It's run by an elderly couple. The prices are cheap! Personally, I recommend miso curry and miso curry. The soy sauce chashu is also my favorite. The set menu is also cheap. In less than 15 minutes, the curry katsu arrived. Nice. This dark color, now let's check the tonkatsu. It's quite large in size. And the cross-section. Wow, quite thick. Among recent tonkatsu, it's one of the best. Since it's homemade tonkatsu, the shape and pressure may vary daily. I took a bite of the tonkatsu. Wow, it's delicious. It's juicy, and has a good texture. Unlike premium meat, it has some fibers. But it's a flavorful tonkatsu, which makes me happy. The curry has a rich flavor. It's spicy too. Indeed, it's spicy. This spiciness adjustment is probably with garam masala powder and chili powder (floating on the surface of the roux). It's good to have a spiced flavor, but the original richness is slightly overshadowed by the spice. Next time, I'll try medium spicy. And the fukujinzuke. This is good too. The brown fukujinzuke is not overly sweet, with a moderate saltiness, it's delicious. Curry katsu is eaten with a spoon in this place. Many places use forks. With a spoon, I have to put all the tonkatsu in my mouth without cutting it, so I borrowed chopsticks to cut the tonkatsu. And I continued to eat tonkatsu, rice, and curry alternately with all my heart. It was a taste that I never got tired of until the end. The rice is probably around 400 grams. Quite a lot. And it's only 780 yen (tax included)!! Well, a homemade curry that takes time. And a thick tonkatsu. The amount of rice is like a chain store's large serving. Definitely cheap. And delicious. In Asahikawa, my personal favorite is Uncle Peppery, and Cardamom. Unfortunately, the closed cafe, Koyo. Recently, I'm getting into Buta Hat. It's as delicious as these. Or maybe, it's better to choose a restaurant based on the mood of the day. Ranking restaurants would bring bad luck. Thinking about this and that, I drank water after the meal. I've never seen other customers' orders at this place, such as katsudon, oyakodon, and omurice curry. Next time, I might try these... No, I feel like going back to ramen again... It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. Keep up the good work! I'll definitely come back!
