For motorcycle riders other than professional delivery riders and newspaper delivery people, it's the last season. Today might be the last ride of the year? As I think this, I continue my touring. My favorite is the Shakotan Peninsula round course. The temperature is 8 degrees as I depart from home. I take a break in Kamoenai Village, located on the west coast of the Shakotan Peninsula. Rather than just taking a break, I was feeling really cold so I wanted to warm up a bit, and then I found a small café. The café is called "Fukuroma." Fukuroma? Written in kanji, it's 袋澗. In the past, during the time when a lot of herring were caught, they used to put the herring in nets into the sea trap called "fukuroma" to preserve the fish from the rough waves of the Sea of Japan. There must have been a lot of fukuroma here in Kamoenai Village as well. This time, I visited the local café "Fukuroma" in Kamoenai Village. The café is renovated from a private house, with a café on the first floor and accommodation available on the second floor. In the café, there were other riders like me on a tour, and also local women having a get-together. I was having lunch during my tour. I ordered a hot sandwich and a hot coffee from the menu. A space filled with the unique community of a small town. Both my body and mind felt warm and relaxed. There were instruments like a piano, guitar, and conga available, and live performances can be held there. A week later, I revisited the café during my tour. Today, I had a café au lait. I would be happy if they also had cocoa. "Fukuroma" - not just for herring, but humans can also relax in this sea trap (laughs). The location is right next to the Kamoenai Village Office. Across from the café, there is a "sushi restaurant" that locals boast about, with customers waiting in line. Well, when will be the next time? Riding 819 (bike) to Kamoenai. Thank you.
