Shakotan Camp. Unfortunately, it's cloudy today but still hot (>_<) My daughters are playing in the sea with crabs, giggling and having fun. This shop is operated by the Shakotan Chamber of Commerce and is only open until October this year, from 12:00 to 15:30. It's a seaside shop selling floats and local products. I was interested in Shakotan Blue Ice Cream & Salt Ice Cream and Shakotan Blue Ramune, so I bought them right away (laughs). I really wanted soft serve ice cream, but it seems they don't have the machine for it. They would definitely sell well if they had it here.
- Shakotan Blue Ice Cream: The color is the same as the spoon used to scoop it. Blue? Emerald green? It's a subtle color (>_<) I thought it would be minty based on the color, but it was completely different. It has a distinctive sweetness.
- Shakotan Salt Ice Cream: Normal salt ice cream has a hint of saltiness, but this one is quite salty! It's more like salt ice cream than a savory flavor.
- Shakotan Blue Ramune: It tastes like Ramune! (laughs) I tried hard to find the difference between this and Blue Hawaii... You'll have to taste them side by side to tell.
If you visit Shakotan, don't just go for sea urchins, try Shakotan Blue Ice Cream & Ramune too! By the way, this year's sea urchin fishing has been affected by bad weather, so the catch has been limited. Shakotan sea urchins may be quite rare.
