I had a meal at a café and then headed to Sapporo Station because it wasn't too crowded. I had about an hour left until dinner time, so I decided to buy some bread from this place. Afterwards, I casually browsed the clothing stores at Stellar Place. The bakery I visited on this day was called "Paul Bocuse," but it's not easy to find if you're a first-time visitor. It's located in the basement of Daimaru Sapporo, next to the bread section of Donq. To distinguish their bread, look for products with "PAUL BOCUSE" written in black above the price tag. However, the entrance doesn't have the name "Paul Bocuse" displayed, making it quite confusing! I had to ask a staff member to understand. I find the setup at "COPE BOX" in Tokyu Department Store easier to understand. I wonder how well their sales are with this method. Here's what I had: - Quiche Lorraine (¥237) - Soft Butter Bread (¥194) Before I start my review, I have to apologize for a mistake I made. I realized from the receipt that the "Soft Butter Bread" was actually a product of Donq, not Paul Bocuse. So, the only bread I can review here is the Quiche. The Quiche had spinach, onions, potatoes, cheese, and bacon as the main ingredients. It's not often you see a round Quiche. I like to warm it in the microwave and then lightly toast it in the oven to avoid burning. Unfortunately, the crispy texture didn't quite come back as I hoped, probably due to the heating time. Despite that, the potatoes were fluffy, the cheese added richness, the bacon was juicy and flavorful, making it taste like a good pizza. The eggs were soft, and I would love to try it freshly baked. I made a mistake this time by not checking properly and ended up buying a different product for a cheaper price. Next time, I'll make sure to double-check! Thank you for the meal.

In Tokyo, trends often start before reaching Hokkaido. Recently, there have been various types of anpan at a bakery in Hokkaido! Yay! I remember buying bread from this bakery before, but they didn't have anpan back then. Today, I'm going to go back and get some! Yay!

At the gourmet area in the basement of Daimaru Sapporo, you can enjoy products from Paul Bocuse. On this day, I purchased the "Pain de Mi Cereal". This product is made from domestically produced wheat, processed brown rice, milk, butter, and brown rice flour. It had a strong flavor of bread and was very enjoyable. I had it with pumpkin soup, which made me feel a little luxurious in the morning, starting my day off happily.

The shop had not been open for long, but the bread was a bit disappointing. I bought a unique bread with red bean paste and butter, which had a French bread-like texture. The red bean paste was not too sweet, and the bread itself was quite chewy, making it enjoyable. However, the butter was a bit too greasy. I also tried a potato and basil focaccia, which was a bit hard until warmed up. It had a good amount of potatoes and bacon inside, making it a satisfying meal option. Lastly, I tried the cheese bread, which had a fluffy texture with cheese inside. I wished it was more chewy. Overall, the bread selection was decent, but I found that warming them up was necessary to fully enjoy their flavors. There were many options to choose from, but nothing stood out as particularly special, so I may not return for more.

I couldn't find "Paul Bocuse" in the Daimaru Sapporo store basement! I thought about reporting it to the management to have it removed! But then I looked up and saw a sign for "PAUL BOCUSE"...hmm? But beyond that was the Donq section. What's going on here? I stopped and read other people's reviews. Apparently, "Paul Bocuse" products are displayed in the Donq section. So, are they just using recipes from "Paul Bocuse" to make the products at Donq? Feeling determined, I explored the store, looking for the black line above the price tag with "PAUL BOCUSE" written on it. There weren't many products, maybe around 20. I purchased the "Truffle Salt Bread @ 259" labeled as the "most popular" and the "Raisin Bread @ 259". The truffle salt bread had a good truffle flavor but the salt was a bit strong, and the price was high. I didn't really like it. The raisin bread was slightly moist, had a good raisin flavor, decent texture, but didn't taste like butter. I mean, isn't "Raisin Bread" supposed to have butter in it? Paul Bocuse was a legendary French chef who earned three Michelin stars in 1942 and maintained them for 50 years, but passed away in 2018. In the 2020 Michelin guide, his restaurant was downgraded to two stars. It seems that Daimaru has a franchise agreement with them, as this bakery is operated by Daimaru in Japan. Regardless, I didn't like the fact that it was mixed in with the Donq section in the Sapporo store. It was confusing and lacked brand identity. The taste didn't match the cost either. Is this kind of marketing strategy really effective? Thank you for the meal.

While watching a drama, I searched for the name of this restaurant that appeared, which turned out to be a three-star chef's restaurant in France. Surprisingly, the search results also showed up in Sapporo, at the Sapporo Daimaru department store. I saw a review from MyRebi in real-time! I was amazed to find out that it was inside Don Quijote. I was taught how to distinguish it inside Don Quijote, and off I went! I found the price difference! If you don't know, you might mistake it for Don Quijote's bread. There aren't many types, but I bought: Croissant for 280 yen - with plenty of butter and a crispy pastry made with French wheat and French butter. It was truly satisfying! Quiche Champignon for 226 yen - a rich quiche with onions, bacon, cheese, tomatoes, and mushrooms. It was a luxurious treat of bread! I enjoyed these high-quality bread treats. It was bread from a three-star chef. Thank you for the feast.

This is a bakery located on the left side immediately after entering the south entrance of Daimaru Sapporo B1F. The display overlaps with Donq, so you have to differentiate by looking at the price tags when making a purchase. I used to visit without paying attention to the difference between the two, but I never realized that they were actually two separate shops (lol). I usually just put whatever I wanted on the tray without worrying about it, so this time I decided to pay attention and make sure to differentiate the two. However, I stumbled a bit at the beginning and ended up putting Donq's stollen on the tray, but oh well. Now, what should I choose...? Croissant... I had it the other day and it was delicious (lol). I love Danish pastries, so I decided to go for the cheese Danish, but I forgot the name (Σ( ̄ロ ̄lll)). I think it was Croissant au Jambon Fromage. If I got it wrong... I'm sorry (´・ω・`). The store was crowded, so I gave up on trying to differentiate by looking at the price tags. I ended up with 1 Donq and 1 Paul Bocuse on the tray and headed to the cashier (lol). Later, I saw reviews from other people and realized that the price tags and designs were different, making it easy to tell them apart even from a distance... I was too late. I was peeking at each one to find the right one... acting suspiciously among the ladies. I wish I had noticed earlier... This is my revenge. I had it for breakfast the next morning at home. The crispy crust and moist interior, combined with the saltiness of the ham and cheese, were a perfect match (*´ω`*)♪ It was a croissant that wasn't too assertive for a meal. Thank you for the meal (*´ω`*)

In the evening at the Daimaru department store basement, it's really crowded. Before getting on the train, let's buy some bread to eat at home! This place is popular, so even in the evening, freshly baked bread keeps coming out. I bought three items: 1) "Truffle Salt Bread" (259 yen) - This is the most popular bread here! It's a salt bread with truffle-flavored paste mixed in, and the aroma is really nice! It has an elegant taste with a hint of truffle paste on top. 2) "Crème Brûlée" (237 yen) - The outer layer is crispy, and inside, there's a creamy custard made with eggs and caramel, all stuffed and baked in. The creamy custard and caramel inside are rich and fragrant. Combined with the crispy outer layer, it's definitely delicious! 3) "Tarte au Citron" (237 yen) - Inside the tart dough, there are 6 types of mixed berry fruits, creating a moist cake. The top is also filled with berry fruits! The sweet and sour taste is very delicious. The crunchy and moist texture is also great! With so many types of bread, it's hard to choose! There are many other breads that catch my eye! I'll think about what to buy next time while hurrying to the ticket gate!

This is the Daimaru underground area near Sapporo Station. I went shopping with my wife and bought bread for tomorrow. Even though I have bought it many times, I haven't reviewed it here for some reason. I have a photo taken before baking, but I don't have a photo of the bread after eating half of it! I bought a 4-slice loaf of Pan de Mi Kado for 336 yen. It's okay to eat it in moderation even with a low-carb diet. One slice of a 6-slice loaf has 26.6g of carbs, so one slice of a 4-slice loaf has about 40g, which is right on the edge! So, I decided to only eat half. Butter is fine, so I spread plenty on it. I enjoyed it with iced coffee. The bread was delicious after a long time. Thank you for the meal.

On a certain holiday, I stopped by the food section of Daimaru department store while wandering around. I thought it was Donq, but it turned out to be Paul Bocuse. There were three names listed on the floor guide - Donq, Mini One, and Paul Bocuse, and indeed, inside the store, each was clearly labeled. I imagined that Paul Bocuse might be a different brand product of Donq. So, on that day, I checked the menu and saw the sign "Paul Bocuse" on the display shelf, so I made sure not to make a mistake and bought a few items. The spinach quiche (259 yen) had a vibrant green color on top and tasted like a side dish with the flavor of eggs, bacon, onions, and potatoes. It was delicious. The anchovy salt bread (229 yen) caught my attention because of the anchovy on top, so I bought it. It had the salty taste of salt bread, with buttery oil and a hint of anchovy flavor as an accent, which was good. The croissant (259 yen) attracted me with its shiny surface, and it was crispy, sweet, buttery, and delicious. The overall experience was great, even though the original store might have been Donq. The billing was the same, so it wasn't a big issue, but this time, I decided to be a bit particular and bought items separately. Thank you for the meal.

In May 2019, I visited a restaurant that was associated with the late Paul Bocuse, a giant in the French culinary world who passed away in 2018. This restaurant, which I initially thought was called "Donk," is actually a joint establishment with Paul Bocuse. They offer a delicious baguette for 259 yen, which has a crispy exterior and a soft interior. I wonder if it is made by Donk. It seems they have a range of breads for everyday use and a more gourmet option. Next time, I'll have to remember to choose accordingly.

At this time of year, I find myself drawn to sweet potato and chestnut flavors, so even though there were many types of bread available, I ended up buying similar ones! Around 5 pm on a holiday, there weren't many bread options available, which was disappointing. It seemed like there were a lot of sliced bread varieties. I think there were more hard bread types than sweet bread types. There weren't many pastries, if any! Pastries can be too sweet in the morning, so with nuts and dried fruits in this type of bread, you can enjoy it without worrying too much about the sweetness. It can make you feel a little luxurious even in the morning!

Well, well, I visited Daimaru in Sapporo (´ω`(´ω`) and checked out the bread at Paul Bocuse. This time, I highly recommend the Renetta, an Italian traditional sweet bread with a buttery flavor. When I searched, I found a popular bakery inside Daimaru department store! Today's bakery at Daimaru, a carpet bombing of bread! It's located on the basement floor, so I thought it would be easy to find, but oh boy, it's crowded! Really crowded, as expected in the department store basement! I couldn't find the store even after going around in circles, but then I discovered the reason why I couldn't find it - it's on the same floor as Donq and Paul Bocuse! (By the way, the entrance only had "Donq" written on it) So I ended up going around in circles for a while. The checkout counter is also shared, so it's lucky that you can visit two stores at once, right? - White cheese bread: Just baked, with the cheese inside being melty and irresistible! (I couldn't wait and ate it right at the station, lol) It's a cute-looking bread that reminds me of Heidi. The white bread part is so fluffy that it looks like it's going to melt! When it's freshly baked, the cheese comes out so melty like a sauce, and it was irresistible. - Raisin and apple tea bread: I think there's tea mixed in, with raisins and apples adding flavor accents. The overall balance is really good, and I love this one! These are breads that seem common but are delicious. The salt bread I also bought seems to be from Donq. They are all mixed up, so it's hard to tell which is which. Either way, these were delicious bakeries. I'll come back again! Thank you for the meal!

I went shopping for bread at Paul Bocuse in the food basement of Daimaru Sapporo store. The store is actually shared by Paul Bocuse and Donck, with separate entrances for each. The selling method allows for the same products to be displayed regardless of the store, such as baguettes and bread. At home, I tried the Petit Misch cereal for 172 yen, a multigrain French bread. It had a good texture and flavor, with a nice aroma. I also tried the Batar for 259 yen, which had a good crust and texture, with a pleasant taste. Overall, both breads were delicious and I look forward to comparing them with Donck in the future.

I thought I wouldn't make it in time if I didn't leave Sapporo soon, but then I heard, "Can I buy some bread to take with us?" and since kindness is my trademark, I gave in and decided to go along. I was hesitating on which type of bread to buy, but ended up purchasing a baguette. Both of us love French bread, but besides the purpose of enjoying delicious bread, this person's purchase was also aimed at staying awake. Today's schedule is quite tough. Even though I was told, "I'll take over driving!" I was worried, so I didn't switch drivers easily. I don't like chewing gum, and neither do they, so giving them hard bread to prevent drowsy driving was the strategy. Around two-thirds of the way through the journey, sleepiness hit me. I was given the bread with a warning not to break my teeth, and I ate it carefully. It was delicious! Eating slowly made the effect last longer, but when given all at once, I finished it quickly. Still, the drowsiness didn't come back!

In October 2013, Paul Bocuse is a bakery related to Daimaru. With the exception of some, they have outlets in almost all Daimaru stores. The Daimaru Sapporo store is located in the same corner as Donq, with a shared cash register. It has been a long-standing question what the relationship between Donq and Paul Bocuse is. If there is a relationship with Donq, there should be Donq in all Daimaru stores. However, the bakeries vary from store to store. For example, at Daimaru Tokyo store, there are "Maison Kayser" and "Kimuraya Sohonten" but no Donq. The Shinsaibashi store has "Andersen" and its affiliated "Danish Heart". The Kyoto store has "Donq" and "Mini One" like the Sapporo store. Each store has different bakeries. Finally, the reason for the same register was understood, so I decided to review it. This store is located in the basement 1st floor bakery corner of Daimaru Sapporo store directly connected to JR Sapporo Station in Chuo-ku, Sapporo City. For the exact location of the store, please check on Tabelog. This time, I only bought bread from Paul Bocuse. Paul Bocuse Popular Bread Set ★3.8 A set of mini versions of the top 4 popular breads from Paul Bocuse Maple French - Popular #1 Maple scented, slightly sweet French toast. Standard size is 262 yen Milk Raisin - Popular #2 Soft bread with rum-soaked raisins. Standard size is 281 yen Gourmet Cinnamon Roll - Popular #3 Bread dough rolled with cinnamon-flavored dough and cinnamon sugar on top. Standard size is 189 yen Cream Croissant - Popular #4 Cross-shaped cream bread with powdered sugar on top. Standard size is 189 yen Raisin Baguette ★4.0 Naturally a hard bread with rum-soaked raisins inside. The outer skin is crispy and hard, while the inside is soft and chewy. A pretty good-tasting baguette. 315 yen The "Paul Bocuse Popular Bread Set" is quite interesting. It includes mini versions of the top 4 popular breads. You can enjoy popular flavors at a reasonable price. It's convenient even for singles. Personally, I find it a bit sad that they are all soft breads. The "Raisin Baguette" is to my liking. Now, as mentioned at the beginning, it is described as a "bread corner". At Daimaru Sapporo store, it is treated strictly as a bread corner. It just so happens that Donq and Paul Bocuse are included in the bread corner. Therefore, they share the same register as part of the bread corner. Even if the tenants change or increase, the treatment remains the same. Also, it is said that the same artisans bake the bread following the recipes of Donq and Paul Bocuse. Finally, the long-standing question has been resolved. I felt more delicious than usual because the weight on my chest was lifted (laughs). Next time, I might have a hard time deciding what to buy between Donq and Paul Bocuse. But I want to buy some hard bread. Thank you for the delicious meal.

I recently discovered the existence of "Ball Bouquet" in Sapporo's Daimaru, located in the same space as "Donk Mini One." The area where the bread is displayed is about one corner of Donk's space, not very large. The cash register is shared, and there is no clear separation. The bread assortment includes tart-shaped pastries, quiche, and a good selection of meal bread. There were baguettes, batards, country bread, soft butter rolls, raisin rolls, and sandwich bread available. The prices may seem a bit high, but all the bread seems carefully baked. I bought the Five-Grain Petit Mishmash Cereal (\168) which is a hard meal bread made from a mixture of rye and wheat flour. The crust is firm with a crispy texture, while the crumb is soft and fluffy with a slightly sweet taste. The Milko Roll (\63) is a round butter roll with a rich and sweet flavor. The Soft French Bread (\147) is a white bread made with milk, soft and easy to eat. Among the breads, the Milko Roll was surprisingly delicious. I might buy it as a souvenir next time.
