After work, I spontaneously decided to stop by a newly opened beer bar that my neighbor had told me about. Since it was a weekday, the place was relatively empty, and there were tables available in the back, but it mainly had a high table layout like a sports bar. The Tokyo Olympics were happening at the same time, and there was a handball match playing. Most of the customers were sitting at tables enjoying a gathering, while a few others came and went fairly quickly.
The interior was quite bright, and the staff, being newly opened, were very friendly. I wanted to grab a quick bite to eat, so I ordered edamame and curry, while the beer selection consisted mainly of Suntory brands. It was nice to have a black beer again, which had a good bitterness. The bartender tapped it from the keg, ensuring a nice foam just like a proper bar.
The curry was a bit spicy with deep flavor. The combination of edamame and beer brought out the spiciness, enhancing my appetite. Just as I was about to leave, I noticed a special opening deal for roast beef at half price. After some hesitation, I decided to order it since I was there. I also ordered a Highball with Hakushu whiskey. The roast was perfectly cooked, served with slightly bitter leafy greens, which added a nice touch.
I don't usually splurge on Hakushu lately, but at the bar price, it felt justifiable. It was reliably delicious. Being a bar, the food mainly consisted of snacks, and there were limited options for a hearty meal, but it was just right for a casual drop-in. For the time being, it seems they only accept cash for payment. I think I’ll stop by again if I’m in the mood on my way home.
