Personally, my top 3 favorite European-style curry restaurants in Osaka are "Vasco da Gama" in Takatsuki City, "Shirogane-tei" in Honmachi, and the newly discovered "Curryya Madras"! I wish I had found it sooner... It's a bit of a walk from Namba Station, about 12 minutes on foot. It's also about a 5-minute walk from Ebisucho Station on the Osaka Metro Sakaisuji Line. It's in Nipponbashi area, which may not be a place you think of going to easily. I had been curious about "Curryya Madras" for a while. There are also locations near JR Namba at Nanba Motomachi and Sakaisuji Honmachi, but this time I went to the main store. There were a few people lined up until Saturday afternoon, so I waited a bit. I heard that the medium size is quite large, so I ordered a small curry (800 yen) with a pork cutlet topping (200 yen). The kitchen has been in business for over 30 years and is run by a husband and wife. Nice. This small size is more than enough. If you're really hungry, you might want to go for the medium. The cutlet is thin, but has a presence. The color looks light and quite sweet. I generously put in bright red Fukujinzuke (pickles). Let's eat right away - as soon as I took a bite, it was quite sweet. It's a curry that gives a fruity sweetness that is liked by the general public. But after a while of eating, the spiciness suddenly hits you. It seems that they use 30 types of spices. What a delicious taste... I couldn't stop eating with the spoon. It's addictive. This is a taste that will make you want to come back regularly. The fruity sweetness, the kick of the spices, and the well-cooked richness all come together in a perfectly delicious curry. If this was nearby, I would definitely go there regularly. I hope they open in Umeda or in the northern part of Osaka City. No complaints about this curry. The restaurant is known for its meticulous preparation and delicious fried food. The staff is friendly and the spacious counter creates a pleasant atmosphere. The curry is flavorful with a hint of spices and fruit, but it is quite sweet. The sweetness may be overwhelming for those who prefer less sweet flavors. However, for those who enjoy sweet curry, this place is highly recommended. They offer small to large sizes, with the medium size shown in the picture.

I was not satisfied with the curry I had for lunch, so I decided to go back to this restaurant that I trust and had dinner as a revenge. I ordered the medium-sized pork cutlet curry to fill my stomach, but I was just barely full. I enjoyed the Osaka-style curry with its consistent sweet and spicy taste.

My wife and I had been saying we wanted to go back to this place in Nihonbashi for a long time, even though we had no reason to go there. After finally mustering up the courage, I revisited the place (realized it had been 7 years since my last visit). The staff had changed, but the interior remained the same, bringing back nostalgic memories. I couldn't decide between getting a large, medium, or small portion, but the staff kindly recommended the medium size with a topping of katsu cheese (the large portion is almost 1 kilogram). As soon as I took a bite, I was overwhelmed by the familiar sweetness followed by spiciness, filling my mouth with nostalgia. While spice curry is good, I realized that this type of curry is ingrained in the DNA of Japanese people. By the time I finished eating, my stomach was full to the brim, feeling like I had overdone it, but the satisfaction was also overflowing. I will definitely revisit sooner next time.

I arrived around 1:00 and ordered the Katsu Curry with a small portion and a fried egg on top. The staff seemed busy and a bit rough, so be careful when they hand you the plate. I once ordered a large portion and almost couldn't finish it, so this time I went with a small portion. It still seemed like it was around 350g. The taste was sweet and spicy, with a strong sweetness.

Yesterday, I saw a curry program on TV and today my husband and I felt like having curry. I found this place on Tabelog and decided to visit. Even though it hadn't been open for long, it was already full. But the turnover was quick and we were seated soon. I ordered the medium size with pork cutlet topping, while my wife ordered the small size with crab croquette and raw egg topping. The small size here seems to be a regular size elsewhere. The medium size was quite filling. The curry had a sweet taste at first, followed by a bit of spiciness, but it wasn't too complex. I think I still prefer Indian curry after all.

I visited this restaurant after more than 10 years of absence. I arrived after 4 PM, and there were only about 3 customers, but the conversation with the staff at the time of payment made it clear that they were all regulars. I eagerly waited for the legendary curry that I hadn't had in a long time. Despite being a medium size, the portion was quite generous. The first bite was surprisingly sweet, but as I continued eating, a subtle spiciness emerged. This is the classic sweet and spicy curry of Osaka. Eating this curry in the middle of summer, sweating, was an amazing experience. Thank you for the meal.

This is the most delicious Osaka sweet and spicy curry. There is only one type of curry available, with three sizes - small, medium, and large. Even the small size is quite large, so be careful. I always order the small size with pork cutlet and cheese topping. It's really tasty and addictive, but for some reason, I feel like the sauce has been a little lukewarm recently. Also, I was surprised to see many Korean tourists visiting, maybe it has become famous on social media?

Today, I had a lot of errands to run and didn't have time to have a leisurely lunch. When that happens, I always appreciate curry, so I decided to visit "Curryya Madras" in Ebisucho! It's a small restaurant with just an L-shaped counter and not too many customers. They offer larger portions than other places, so I opted for the small curry: 800 yen, katsu: 200 yen, and fried egg: 100 yen. After a short wait, the food arrived, and I dug in! The curry is cooked with 30 different spices and 4 types of fruits for a week, giving it a fruity sweetness at first, followed by a gradual spiciness. It was a consistently delicious meal. I was satisfied with the small portion. Thank you for the meal!

Today, I felt like having curry since the morning, so I decided to go to Madras, a restaurant recommended by my husband. When we arrived just before 12 o'clock, there were already 3 groups waiting in line. While waiting in line, a staff member came to take our order first. We ordered a small topping curry with cutlet, and a medium topping curry with cutlet and a raw egg. We were seated in about 15 minutes. As soon as we sat down, the curry arrived. It was so fast! I was happy that we could eat right away. Let's dig in. First, I tried a spoonful of the curry sauce. Huh, it's lukewarm. The rice and cutlet were also lukewarm. They were not hot. I love my food piping hot, so I felt a bit disappointed. The curry sauce had a thick texture with a strong sweetness, and a bit of spiciness came afterwards. The rice was soft. The cutlet was thin. Hmm. The customer next to us ordered after being seated and got a steaming hot curry. I envy that. My husband, who doesn't like piping hot food, seemed to enjoy it. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived at the restaurant on Sunday at 6:30 PM. I didn't have to wait and was able to get in right away. Inside, there was only one other group. I ordered the curry with a pork cutlet topping for an extra 200 yen. The pork cutlet came out quickly, in about 3 minutes. It was thin but crispy and delicious. The curry had a sweet flavor reminiscent of Indian cuisine, with a gradual spiciness that was enjoyable.

I watched the movie "Family Portrait" directed by Keiko Kishimoto. Tetsushima Takashi decides to build a new family. He expresses his strong feelings through a sketchbook. He shares a cup of sake left by his father. The cycle of life, with lives lost and new lives born. Today's first choice was closed, and the second choice was full, so things didn't go smoothly as usual. But it's okay. The third choice was "Curry Madras Nihonbashi Main Store." It was also crowded, but I managed to get a seat at the counter. The BGM was my favorite FM802. - Curry Rice [Small] with White Fish = 1,000 yen I unconsciously tried to order a medium portion of curry rice, but switched to a small portion. I chose white fish fry as a topping. Oh, a big plate. It looks impressive. The Madras curry starts off sweet but gradually becomes spicier. The bite-sized white fish fry has a crispy coating and a subtle fish flavor that complements the curry. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal. Yes, the small portion of rice was just right in terms of volume. Life is not just about having a large portion. The path ahead requires diligence and perseverance, leading to no regrets.

You can drink it easily, the curry has a sweet taste at first, then a subtle spiciness comes through. It's addictive and you can't stop eating it. There are various toppings to choose from, making it enjoyable. The thin pork cutlet goes well with the curry, making it easy to eat. You can also take the curry roux home for 700 yen.

I had been curious about this restaurant for a while. I went on a Saturday but went at a slightly later time, around 2 o'clock. There were still about 4 people waiting outside. While waiting in line, they gave me the menu, and as soon as I sat down inside, the curry I ordered arrived promptly. The efficiency of the counter seating system was evident, even to someone like me. I knew it was going to be delicious even before I took a bite. I ordered the medium size curry with a pork cutlet topping. Initially, I ordered the large size, but when they mentioned it was about 1kg, I switched to medium. I was glad I did when I saw the size of the plate. The first bite made me think, "Hmm, it's sweet," but by the second bite, I thought, "But it's delicious," and by the third bite, the spiciness kicked in. By the fourth bite, the harmony in my mouth was complete. It was a taste that was unlike any curry I had ever had before, with a sense of dedication to how curry should be. However, I was a bit disappointed that the pork cutlet lacked juiciness to match the authentic curry. Personally, I wish they would pay a bit more attention to the toppings, even if it meant raising the price by about 100 yen.

Sweet and savory Madras curry with a generous amount of sauce. The portion might be too much for women or those with a small appetite. The dish served over the counter comes in a fairly large plate. Even the small size is... Topped with cheese for just 1000 yen, it's quite a good deal. There are other branches as well, but this is a curry that makes you want to come back for more.

Well, my stomach was satisfied, but standing in front of the shop, the spicy smell stimulated my stomach's switch! This time, I went with a small curry with the popular tonkatsu topping. It's sweet but just spicy enough, delicious, and addictive curry rice. The customers are of all ages and genders, crossing generations and time. The Tokyo shop is owned by actor Kazuki Kitamura, it seems.

I felt like having curry for lunch. There were three sizes of curry available - small, medium, and large, with various toppings to choose from, so there was quite a variety of menu combinations. I ordered a small curry with pork cutlet topping. The restaurant had an L-shaped counter and it wasn't very crowded at that time. I watched the kitchen staff cooking as I waited for my order. The curry was handed to me over the counter. It was on a sturdy plate, with a generous amount of curry. Even though it was a small size, it looked filling due to the large plate. The pork cutlet was in the center, with rice and curry surrounding it. I noticed that there wasn't much curry under the cutlet, but the overall amount of curry was sufficient. There was Fukujinzuke (pickled vegetables) on the counter that I could help myself to. I started eating, and thought the curry was sweet. Mixing it with rice, I continued to enjoy the curry. It started to get spicy, but the sweetness lingered in my mouth. The spiciness gradually built up, and what initially seemed lacking in flavor turned out to have a deep and addictive taste. The pork cutlet, with its thin pork meat and crispy coating, complemented the spiciness of the curry. As expected, there was plenty of curry sauce, so the white rice under the cutlet was not dry at all.

The curry is as big as shown in the photo. I ordered a medium size, but it looks pretty large. The toppings of katsu and fried egg cost 200 yen each and 100 yen respectively. The katsu is very thin. The curry is sweet and you can't choose the spiciness level. There are no specific ingredients, but the taste of the vegetables is delicious. The curry is served quickly, so there is not much waiting time.

At the end of a long holiday, I had a late lunch at a spice-themed restaurant around 4:00 PM. There were two other customers already there. I couldn't decide on the toppings, but ended up choosing the cutlet for an extra ¥200. I ordered a small curry with the cutlet topping. The dish was served on a large plate, which got me excited. Even though it was a small portion, it was quite satisfying. I started by tasting the curry sauce, which had a hint of sweetness followed by a kick of spices and heat. It was a curry that you could keep eating endlessly. I really enjoyed it! Next time, I want to try adding a raw egg and getting a large portion of the sauce. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Visited Madras for the first time. I was torn between going to Kokeshi-san, who is right next door, but today I chose Madras. I ordered the curry set for 900 yen with an additional topping for 200 yen. The rice was served on a large plate and it was quite a generous portion. The cutlet was thin. The Osaka curry here is sweet and spicy, a taste that I suddenly felt like having. It's a popular restaurant with a long history, but in this type of place, the staff often act a bit condescending, but here the staff were really nice and made my lunchtime enjoyable. I feel like coming back again. But next time, I'll go for the small size. Thank you for the meal! (*´∀`*)

When looking back at past posts, it seems that in February 2023, the price of curry was raised by 200 yen. The curry had a few slices of well-cooked beef, which added a small but noticeable presence without feeling too expensive. The curry had a taste similar to when honey is added to spicy curry, with a slightly powdery texture rather than being thick. The rice was on the firmer side. There were no condiments like Worcestershire sauce on the table, only water and red Fukujinzuke pickles.
