2023/2 Snack time in the Maruyama area, a unique mochi specialty store with a variety of mochi treats such as daifuku and fresh warabi mochi. They even have mochi sandwiches and mochi drinks, with a wide range of original offerings that make it hard to choose. I decided to try the rare "baked daifuku" with red bean paste filling for 180 yen. It had a refined sweetness with a hint of saltiness and a nice crispy exterior. I also tried the "fresh warabi mochi" for 320 yen, which came with four different toppings including kinako powder. The mochi was delightfully soft and chewy, with a refreshing texture that was addictive. I even mixed the leftover kinako powder with milk, which was also delicious. Overall, it was a satisfying meal.

Sakuramochi with red bean paste has a lot of filling and is slightly sweet. Daifuku with red bean paste has a lot of filling and less beans. Sesame mochi with red bean paste has a lot of filling. Chopped rice cakes (mitarashi and zunda) zunda is the most delicious. Mitarashi is decent. Warabi mochi, a recent trend, is not as soft and melty as some, but still tasty. The mochi is delicious. It's the type that doesn't stretch, more like rice. I am very full.

A traditional Japanese confectionery shop located in a residential area. The main specialty is daifuku, with a variety of flavors available. I went to buy warabimochi. I bought the regular warabimochi and the black sugar flavored one. They also had a matcha flavor available. I brought them home and chilled them in the refrigerator before eating. The warabimochi is soft and chewy, with a good bounce to it. It's generously sprinkled with kinako powder and tastes delicious. It's reasonably priced and highly recommended!

This is Yakimochi-an, Mochigashi Takumi Onuma, which opened in Sapporo Miyanomori in March 2021. I was curious after seeing it featured in a certain magazine. I don't often visit this area, so it feels fresh here. Inside the store, various daifuku were lined up. This time, I was not aiming for the standard daifuku, but for the unusual ones. [Mochi Sandwich - Anko Butter] This one was featured in a certain magazine. Isn't it amazing? Anko butter, I love it, so this visual... I might be able to eat 2-3 more. In addition to this "Mochi Sandwich" series, there were other versions wrapped in salad or sausage. [Grilled Daifuku] I was attracted to this naming and ended up buying it. Grilling daifuku, it must be delicious! It's delicious even as it is... The appearance, this is definitely a winner. Eating it, I'm convinced. Yes, it's delicious!! As expected, the sweetness is mild, or rather, it can be eaten smoothly. [Warabi Mochi Drink] The trendy Warabi Mochi drink♡ This time, I bought "Hojicha Latte" and "Yuzu Soda". Hojicha Latte has black sugar warabi mochi, and Yuzu Soda has normal warabi mochi in it. I had the Hojicha Latte. Yum!! The savory aroma of hojicha and the sweetness of milk are just right. And the warabi mochi is chewy and elastic. This is satisfying! Standard daifuku is good, but when you want something a little different, I recommend it!

When I tried to leave the residential street and reached the main street, I was surprised to find a rather unique shop, a direct sales store. They had warabi mochi, which didn't seem particularly special, but my wife loves it so it was a good find, especially since it was under 300 yen. They also had various types of daifuku. The location is convenient and I would like to try different things from there occasionally.

Weekend stroll series. Recently, on our days off, my husband and I have been taking walks around the neighborhood. On this day, we had lunch at a nearby Italian restaurant and then headed to "Yakimochi An" for some treats. I had noticed this place before while passing by, but it was closed, so I was curious to check it out. Inside the store, there were daifuku and rice crackers on display, and they also offered unique items like grilled daifuku and mochi sandwiches for takeout. We listened to the owner's detailed explanations and ended up buying sakura mochi, bean daifuku, black sugar warabi mochi, and grilled daifuku (white) to take home. The grilled daifuku is made fresh after you order it, and we enjoyed it hot and crispy on the way back. The surface was crunchy, and the sweet bean paste inside was not too sweet, which was delicious. The sakura mochi had smooth red bean paste inside, a Kansai-style treat with a soft and elegant sweetness, perfectly balanced with the saltiness of the cherry blossom leaf. My personal favorite was the black sugar warabi mochi. Although I don't usually eat mochi, the gentle sweetness of the black sugar combined with the soft and elastic texture of the mochi was exquisite. It was delicious even without black syrup. The regular warabi mochi was sold out, so I tried the black sugar version, but next time, I'd like to compare the two! Since the store is closed by the time I finish work on weekdays, and they often sell out on weekends, it seems best to go early. I'd like to try the mochi sandwich next time, so I'll definitely go back. Thank you for the delicious treats!

It's around Nishi 28th Street Station. Since it's Golden Week, I'll buy some souvenirs. I wonder if I'll get scolded for buying unnecessary things? Haha. I decided to visit Yakimochi-an, which had good reviews. There were a lot of cars parked and people inside and outside the shop. I walked a bit and entered the shop after waiting a while. Inside, there were daifuku and manju lined up, with a sophisticated atmosphere and surprisingly reasonable prices. I decided to go with warabi mochi instead of daifuku since I get scolded for buying daifuku for some reason. Warabi mochi was 270 yen including tax, and black sugar warabi mochi was 270 yen. When I got home, we enjoyed it with my family over tea. Warabi mochi is so addictive, isn't it? The downside is that it gets all powdery, but the way it melts smoothly, the taste of kinako, and the hint of saltiness are all so good. We had it with the sencha we received, and next time, I think I'll sneakily get some daifuku. Thank you for the meal.

After enjoying a delicious soba lunch on my day off, I decided to visit a shop that I had been curious about since its opening. The shop offers various treats like baked daifuku and mochi sandwiches that caught my attention. I arrived at the shop around noon, and although there was only one group of customers ahead of us, more people started coming in soon after. Inside the shop, there were displays of daifuku and senbei, and customers can pick and pack them before heading to the cashier. Baked daifuku and mochi sandwiches, on the other hand, need to be ordered directly. This time, I purchased some daifuku that caught my eye, including the white and red baked daifuku that I had been curious about. I also ordered a mochi sandwich with sausage, as well as some vegetable salad and braised pork. Unfortunately, the braised pork was the last one available, so I graciously let my companion have it and opted for the sausage instead. The bean daifuku and grass daifuku had a soft and chewy mochi texture with plenty of sweet bean paste filling. However, I found the sweetness of the bean paste a bit overwhelming and lacking finesse. The sakura mochi also had a similar issue, with the sweetness of the bean paste overpowering the delicate sakura flavor. The baked daifuku, on the other hand, had a nice balance of the crispy exterior and the sweet bean paste, making it quite enjoyable. The mochi sandwich consisted of thinly sliced, chewy mochi wrapped around sausage, egg omelet, and lettuce. Although I was initially unsure about the combination of mochi and sausage, it surprisingly worked well together. Despite finding the bean paste a bit too sweet, I still enjoyed the baked daifuku, and I would consider visiting the shop again in the future.

Recently, there have been a lot of stores opening that specialize in mochi, which makes me, a mochi lover, very happy. However, I can't keep up with all the information haha. This store opened fairly recently, and I was really curious about their mochi sandwich. It's a self-serve system, where you can fill it yourself (gloves in M and L sizes provided). Here's what I tried (I bought them all together, so I took a photo of all the mochi together): - Grilled Daifuku (red and white): They grill it after you order it! It's similar to Rokkatei's "Hankaku-sama" with a fragrant aroma and a stretchy, chewy mochi that's delicious! The anko (red bean paste) is quite sweet, whether it's koshi-an or shiro-an. I preferred the koshi-an. - Mochi Sandwich (braised pork): The sweet braised pork chunks inside didn't really go well with the mochi haha. My brain was confused by the new texture haha. The sweet tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelet) was delicious, but maybe they should change the filling a bit... - Sweet Bean Daifuku: It's been a while since I've had such sweet tsubu-an (coarse red bean paste). The black beans didn't have a salty taste, just a beany flavor without the natural beaniness. The mochi was soft, chewy, and delicious, but it was a shame because of the overly sweet anko. - Sesame Daifuku: This one had a lot of sesame seeds on top, so the salty taste balanced out the sweet anko a bit. However, it was still sweet... The anko here is sweet in all varieties! Even for someone who loves sweet things like me, it was very sweet. The sweetness kind of masks the flavor of the beans, so if you eat a lot, you might get tired of it. It's a shame that the anko wasn't up to par with the delicious mochi! But I was lucky to get the mochi sandwich that I was curious about! Thank you, wu-ta-san!

When it gets hot, the symptoms of my designated rare disease worsen, and unfortunately, there is still no medication specifically developed for it. I have upcoming hospitalizations scheduled for September and January, but due to the current situation, my next appointment may be in May or June. Thank you for your continued support. [April 2021] "Mochigashiya Yakimochi-an" is a traditional Japanese confectionery shop specializing in "Yakidaihuku" and other mochi sweets. They also sell homemade senbei made by an acquaintance. The shop opened on March 28, 2021. I visited with my usual companion, only to find out it was their regular closing day. I revisited the shop and ordered four items: two types of "Yakidaihuku" and two types of "Mochisando." The Mochisando is a soft, thin mochi wrapped around fillings like a sandwich, and the Yakidaihuku is a mochi with a crispy grilled surface. The shop is located in Sapporo's Chuo Ward near the Maruyama area, next to the Sapporo Maruyama Orthopedic Hospital. The Mochisando costs 180 yen each, while the Yakidaihuku costs 160 yen each. The Mochisando is a unique and delicious meal-like sandwich, while the Yakidaihuku has a delightful grilled mochi flavor. I recommend trying both on your visit. Enjoy your meal!

On a Sunday morning, I exchanged information with a "big guy" on LINE and found out that they weren't going to "Yakimochian". I was walking towards the city center but ended up going back towards Maruyama area. When I arrived, it was just 3 minutes before opening time and there were already about 3 customers waiting in front of the store. The "big guy" also arrived at the same time as the opening and we all rushed in. There were several bags of senbei (rice crackers) on the left wall, which reminded me of a senbei shop in Shiroishi. In front of me, there were various daifuku (rice cakes filled with sweet bean paste), sakuramochi (cherry blossom rice cake), warabimochi (bracken-starch dumplings), and more. I grabbed a tray on the left and put on disposable vinyl gloves to pick up the items with my hands. There was a variety of cooked items on the menu as well. I chose the "Mochi Sandwich (with five ingredient salad) @120 yen (tax included)" to take away. First, I tried the "bean daifuku" which had a soft and moderately sweet red bean paste filling, with slightly salty black beans adding a nice touch. Next, the "sakuramochi" had a chewy texture with visible grains in the rice cake, and the red bean paste filling was similar to the one in the bean daifuku. The saltiness from the cherry blossom leaf added a perfect accent. The "Mochi Sandwich" with the five ingredient salad had hijiki seaweed, edamame, soybeans, carrots, and burdock root as the visible ingredients. The mochi was still soft and chewy, and the soy sauce-based seasoning with a balanced amount of salt and oil paired well with the mochi. The sausage and simmered pork in the sandwich were also intriguing. Overall, I have a feeling that this place will become a popular spot in the local area. Thank you for the meal.

Opened on March 28, 2021. How late can you be for an opening! And how do you pronounce "餅果匠"? Is it "Mochikasho" or "Beikasho"? Maybe it's "Beikatakumi" (゚Д゚;) If anyone knows, please tell me~ (^-^; Well, you can also read it as "Yakimochian," but since they went with "Yakimochian," the store name is definitely going to be Yakimochian ♪ But what are Totoron and Jiiji doing? This is a store that sells grilled mochi, but they didn't buy any grilled mochi! ( ̄▽ ̄;) I'll have to come back again soon (^-^; Now, what I bought was the Homemade Pork Belly Sandwich for 180 yen. I think the pork belly could use a bit more flavor haha Grass Daifuku for 160 yen Delicious♪ And of course, the Sakura Mochi for 180 yen is delicious too (^^) That's all! (^^)

I went to a shop that I have visited more than 5 times, and I bought some sakuramochi and mochi sandwich that I haven't had in a while! They are still delicious~! The balance between the sweetness of the red bean paste in the sakuramochi and the salted sakura leaves is perfect. It's my favorite.

Purchased items: Sakura mochi, daifuku (red bean paste, sesame paste), chigiri mochi (sweetened soybean paste), mochi sandwich (mixed vegetable salad). This is probably my third time purchasing the mochi sandwich. I haven't tried other flavors, but I always go for this one. The sakura mochi was delicious, it had the perfect balance! I am satisfied, satisfied.
