"Kaizoku" in Yoichi Town, located in a drinking district, is operating its lunch service in a shop called "Beer House Massey" which was right across from the previous location until last year. I heard that this place serves quite generous portions, so I decided to visit and confirm.
- Black Abalone Seafood Kaizoku Curry, Spiciness: Medium, 1,500 yen, ★★★☆
First of all, it's great that the curry comes with a salad and lassi. The salad had a good amount and the dressing was delicious. The lassi was a fruit lassi. The curry was quite spicy, which was a relief. It contained squid, shrimp, shellfish, and vegetables. The soup portion was quite large, and there were plenty of ingredients. The fried vegetables included broccoli, pumpkin, potatoes, asparagus, burdock, bell peppers, eggplant, and chickpeas, all of which were tasty. The shrimp was fried with the shell on, allowing you to eat it crispy from head to tail. The spiciness level was set at "medium," which was actually quite spicy. It felt like a level 5 on a typical curry scale. I could taste various spices, but personally, I felt it was more peppery spicy. As it accumulated at the bottom of the soup, I found myself coughing a bit towards the end. Apart from the spiciness, the flavor wasn't really to my liking. I wish they had a milder spiciness option available. However, I think it's a good value for the price. Maybe I'll try the hamburger lunch next time.
