Hamamatsucho Lunch Series (No. 1,280 in the Hamamatsucho and Shiba Park area). Today, I had lunch at this newly opened restaurant from January of this year. It’s located on the second floor of a building where a place called "Harapeko Dining" used to be. Being on the second floor, it might not be very noticeable, as there were no customers before or after me, just myself. It’s a bit of an unusual place, focusing on halal-certified ingredients. I'm not sure how much demand there is for that, but it feels like a restaurant aimed at a certain foreign clientele. The walls of the restaurant feature ukiyo-e style paintings. The basic concept is to provide halal Japanese sukiyaki. For lunch, they offer “sukiyaki don,” but there are three types of tempura bowls as well: shrimp tempura, chicken tempura, and vegetable tempura. I chose the vegetable tempura bowl for 1,500 yen. The amount of tempura was quite generous, including sweet potato, lotus root, green beans, eggplant, garlic, pumpkin, shishito peppers, and oh, there was an egg too. The frying technique was decent, and the portion size was ample. However, I felt it was a bit overpriced considering it was all vegetables. The miso soup was slightly lukewarm. When I checked the restaurant's website, I thought it would be more upscale, but the atmosphere is more like a cozy izakaya.
