One weekday evening, after returning from a business trip, I decided to have dinner with a companion. I remembered there used to be a place called "Tokodai Meat Shop," but it had changed to "Fukagawa Hormone Yakiniku Kura, Oshiage Branch." I realized I hadn’t been there in quite a while, but I decided to check out the new restaurant. It was around 7:30 PM, and the place was packed, with only a few counter seats available. After entering, I informed the staff that my companion would be arriving later, and they kindly suggested the open counter seat.
While waiting for my companion, I thought I’d enjoy a drink and ordered the famous "Original Kettle Lemon Sour" that was on a special opening price of just 29 yen (normally 1250 yen). What a steal! As for snacks, I ordered "Tongue Tan (spicy)" for 480 yen and "Maruchou (spicy)" for 740 yen. The kettle lemon sour arrived quickly. While waiting for my companion, the meat was served, and I started grilling once the gas grill heated up. While I sipped my drink and grilled, my companion joined me. They opted for a "Oolong Tea" for 280 yen and ordered "Negi Tan Salt" (1580 yen) and "Tan Cut Remains (Salt)" (680 yen) since they love beef tongue.
The meat came swiftly, and we began grilling. My companion cooked for me, and the expression on their face as they took a big bite was delightful... I took a bite too, and it was incredibly delicious. I had not been satisfied with beef tongue in a while, so this was a real treat. The leftovers were so good that I could have enjoyed just that for dinner. Unfortunately, perhaps due to the drinks, I forgot to take any photos of the food.
Here’s a list of what we ordered:
- Chilled Peppers for Meat (380 yen)
- Tan Tsukune (380 yen)
- Kura Harami (1680 yen)
- Kyuuri (280 yen)
- Orange (280 yen)
- Unstoppable Jaw Meat (Salt) (450 yen)
- Choregi Salad (480 yen)
- Kura's Premium Beef Tongue Salt (1780 yen)
- Shiso Baizu (390 yen)
I was surprised at how well my companion's cravings showed in our menu choices. However, every piece of meat was fresh, without any unpleasant smells, and everything we tried was delicious, which I really appreciated. Although we mostly ate hormone cuts rather than regular yakiniku, the quality was indeed good. I regretted not taking photos of the dishes.
At the time of payment, the total, including tax, exceeded 10,000 yen, but I felt satisfied. I’ll definitely return. Thank you for the meal!
