"Pork Manju King"
Since I was a child, I have always hated manju, not just disliked it, but really hated it. There are various types of manju, but overall, I can't stand them. I can eat ones with very thin skin and delicious filling, but I can't handle the ones with thick skin, especially the Chinese-style manju. I used to receive various treats like anman, nikuman, sweet sake, oshiruko, and hot canned coffee at winter work sites, but I couldn't eat any of them. I remember some bosses even saying, "Don't bring them anymore!" and I thought, "Great! Don't even think about coming back!" But then why did I stop by a manju shop? Pork manju, huh? It arrived, looking suspicious. Why would I buy manju at a suspicious shop where I wouldn't eat them? Nevertheless, I went in and ordered curry manju and pork manju. The shop was sketchy, the owner was sketchy, and the service was non-existent. I paid 260 yen, which wasn't too bad. They didn't put them in a bag, only a paper bag. When I cut into the pork manju, it was filled to the brim with a variety of large, hearty fillings that were authentic and flavorful. The curry manju, on the other hand, had a cheap cheese taste that was a bit off-putting. My wife said, "The pork manju gets a 3.8," and she seems satisfied. If she liked it, then I guess it's all good.
