This is a separate residence. Some of you reading this review may have felt a little uncomfortable with the word "separate residence" (´,_ゝ`)プッ This restaurant is divided into an eel section and a Japanese cuisine section. On this day, for my birthday celebration, I dined in the Japanese cuisine section (even though it's a story from spring...). I had the "Cherry Blossom Kaiseki" course. Let's get into the details of each dish:
- Celebration bowl: Asparagus, fava beans, simmered shrimp, lily bulb petals, black soybeans, and dessert cup with sweet bean paste. The presentation is exquisite, and the flavors are delicate and rich.
- Soup: Clam soup with mugwort gluten, vegetable strips, rapeseed flowers, and young leaves. The subtle aroma of mugwort and the flavorful clam soup make a wonderful combination.
- Side dish: Red rice with perfect texture and a delicate flavor of glutinous rice.
- Sashimi: Assorted seasonal sashimi including sea bream, tuna, salmon, and more. The sea bream was particularly delicious.
- Grilled dish: Scallops, abalone, butter-grilled asparagus, beef with flavorful sauce, simmered sweet potatoes, and ginger. The tender beef with a moist sauce paired perfectly with the vegetables.
- Steamed dish: Spring vegetable parcels with cod roe sauce. The presentation of mushroom, asparagus, and carrot representing pine, bamboo, and plum was impressive.
- Main dish: "Three meals in a bowl" with eel, crab meat, and salmon roe. The eel was tender, the crab meat was delightful, and the salmon roe was delicious.
- Pickles: Assorted pickles with just the right balance of flavors.
- Clear soup: A comforting clear soup with the essence of dashi.
- Dessert: A surprise cake for my birthday celebration, a moment of gratitude for being alive after a health scare in February.
Overall, the meal was a delightful experience with each dish meticulously prepared and bursting with flavors. The craftsmanship and attention to detail were evident in every bite.
