Visited Tanuki COMICHI for the second time in two weeks. Today, I tried the seafood dishes on the first floor. This popular restaurant, which also offers retail, izakaya, delivery, etc., seems to be like a second branch. The staff is mostly young people, and the target customers also seem to be young, with a focus on visually appealing seafood bowls. Despite feeling that the visually appealing seafood bowl might be difficult to eat, I, a former young person, ordered it as shown in the photos. The "Assorted Sushi Platter with about five varieties" actually had six varieties. I imagine they include six varieties to ensure customers are satisfied and avoid being given only four varieties. I, like many customers, consciously try to behave well to prevent this. I recalled the urban legend about being served food with boogers in it if you upset the staff during my student days. The sushi platter had thick and fresh toppings, with 880 yen for a satisfying experience, which is quite a bargain. The sashimi platter, with seven varieties for 942 yen, was also satisfying. Truly a fishmonger's touch. Looking at the receipt to write this review, I noticed that the prices are listed as "excluding tax" and "including tax" interchangeably for each order, regardless of whether it's for dine-in or takeout. I had been avoiding hokke during my stay in Sapporo due to the high prices, but at 1,089 yen, I didn't hesitate to order it today. Additionally, the simmered karei for 580 yen and the sesame-flavored hokki and spinach for 480 yen were also satisfying. The miso soup for 165 yen was very reasonably priced, and the fact that it was "including tax" instead of "excluding tax" was a pleasant surprise. The Sapporo Classic beer was 638 yen, which was average. It seems that the fishmonger's strength does not extend to beer. Overall, I was satisfied with the reasonable prices and delicious fish dishes.

When you come to Hokkaido, it's all about seafood for breakfast! So, instead of rushing around in Otaru the day before, we decided to relax and spend the morning in Sapporo. We were looking for a good seafood donburi spot in Sapporo, and came across this place. It's located in a newly opened facility called "Tanuki COMICHI," which seems to be popular among young people. We arrived early to avoid the crowds, but ended up waiting in the wrong line. Eventually, we got in and ordered: salmon, scallop, and ikura donburi, the signature 10 kinds of seafood donburi, and fresh squid sashimi. The food was beautifully presented, with generous portions. The staff explained how to use the two types of soy sauce provided, and each fish tasted amazing. The salmon was buttery, the scallops were sweet, and the ikura was flavorful. The rice was perfectly cooked and complemented the rich seafood. Overall, a great dining experience in Sapporo!

I made a reservation to eat seafood bowl and visited the restaurant. When I arrived just in time, there was a line in front of the store. It was bustling with many customers. This raised my expectations. Thanks to the reservation, we were able to enter without waiting in line. My wife and I ordered the daily special, and our children each ordered something different. It took a while for the food to come out due to the crowd, but when the bowls arrived, they were impressive. We enjoyed the meal thoroughly, and at the end, we had ochazuke with kinmedai broth for an extra charge. It was delicious. We left the restaurant with a line still outside, showing that it was thriving.

On the evening of the 13th, we visited Sapporo with a visit to have soup curry, strolled around Hokkaido University, went to Kuwazon AEON, took a train from Kuwazon to Sapporo Station, where we bought souvenirs at the Marche and Hokkaido Plaza that would last, and finally felt hungry around 8:30 pm. We decided to have seafood bowls for dinner! We headed to Sihachi Sengyo-ten (Kita 24-jo) by subway (Sapporo -> Kita 24-jo). We arrived at the restaurant at 8:50 pm, just in time for the last order at 9 pm, but unfortunately, they were out of rice for the seafood bowl. Disappointed, we decided to go back to the same chain restaurant near Odori Station. After going back and forth on the subway, we arrived at the restaurant around 9:30 pm, and this time they had rice available until the last order at 10 pm. The restaurant had a food court-like atmosphere with reasonable prices and no seating charge. The seafood bowl was beautifully presented, but a bit difficult to eat. The rice was not vinegared, and the toppings were all fresh and delicious! My son ordered the "Shrimp, Crab, Salmon Roe Hokkai-don," which was a luxurious bowl filled with scallops, crab, medium fatty tuna, salmon roe, and shrimp. The medium fatty tuna was especially delicious. We also shared and enjoyed steamed oysters and grilled squid. It was a satisfying dinner. After dinner, we were too tired to walk back, so we took the subway from Odori to Kita 12-jo, bought some chu-hai at a convenience store, and had a home party. Seafood bowls at places like Nijo Market or the outdoor market easily cost over 2000 yen, so this restaurant was a good deal. Thank you for the meal. ◾️With the Donichika ticket (520 yen), we could have had unlimited subway rides for the day, which we regretted not getting.▪️The first restaurant we visited at Kita 24-jo, Sihachi, also offers lunch and dinner.⚠️In the evening, if you only order the seafood bowl, there is a 300 yen seating charge. If you order alcohol, the seating charge is waived, but you must also order an alcoholic drink plus a dish from the blackboard menu. A seating charge is free. Sapporo⇄Kita 24-jo costs 210 yen one way on the subway Namboku Line, which takes 5 minutes plus a 2-minute walk for access.

On the second night in Sapporo, we visited this restaurant. There were three of us and we hesitated to wait in line as it was quite long. Luckily, some customers left and we were seated shortly after. We ordered more dishes than shown in the photo, including Zangi, Gout Potato Salad, a sashimi platter for three, and an additional sea urchin bowl. The seafood was all fresh and reasonably priced. The sashimi platter is a must-try. The drink prices were a bit high for the size of the mug for the draft beer, but overall it was okay. We ate a lot, with two of us having the bowl, and it came to around 16,000 yen for the three of us. The staff was efficient and provided good service. We were satisfied with our meal. Thank you for the delicious food.

Shirasu Yukke Don (raw baby sardine rice bowl) - 1078 yen Uni (sea urchin) - 935 yen The fish in the Yukke Don was white fish. Mixing it with egg and drizzling with dark soy sauce was delicious. You could also choose a small portion of rice, but even the small portion was a bit too much. The Uni was not too salty and melted in your mouth.

One of the bustling shops in Tanukikoji. You can't miss the seafood bowl here. Although the bowl may look small, the amount of sashimi on top is impressive and all very fresh and delicious. Enjoying the sashimi as a side dish with sake is also a great option. The grilled oysters were uneven in size but tasted good. The SORACHI 1984 drink was particularly good.

The sashimi bowl at this fish market-owned shop was delicious with fresh ingredients. The prices were reasonable compared to other shops outside Nijo Market. The portion size was not huge, but it was enough for me. The rice was regular white rice, not vinegared rice. The shop was clean and the staff were friendly and polite. I may not personally revisit, but I would recommend it to friends who are looking for good seafood.

On a Sunday during a quick trip to Sapporo, we decided to explore the Tanuki Koji area for lunch instead of going to the Sapporo Beer Garden for Genghis Khan. We stumbled upon a building called "Tanuki COMICHI" with a variety of food and drink establishments. The first floor had a seafood bowl restaurant called "Shihachi Sengyo-ten" with a long line of customers. The menu featured various seafood bowls stacked like a tower, including tuna, mackerel, scallops, salmon, king crab, and sea bream. I ordered the 10 kinds of seafood bowl for 1,680 yen, which I initially thought was expensive but realized it was actually a great deal considering the freshness and quality of the ingredients. The atmosphere was not what I expected, as the place showcased the true culinary prowess of Hokkaido. My wife ordered the "Random Sushi Set from the Fish Market" for 880 yen, which was also a steal. We also tried their Zangi (fried chicken) and were tempted by other dishes like grilled oysters, giant scallops with butter, Hokkaido salted cod roe potato fries, and crab and fish roe gout-inducing potato salad. The lemon sour made with lemons from the neighboring produce store looked enticing as well.

During my trip to Hokkaido, I tried the seafood bowl at Shihachi Sengyo-ten in Tanuki COMICHI, which is located at the intersection of Minami 2-jo Dori and Tanuki Koji. Tanuki COMICHI is a place where 20 shops gather to showcase Hokkaido cuisine using local ingredients. Shihachi Sengyo-ten is located on the Minami 2-jo Dori side, next to Curry Garaku. The entrance looks like a fish market with fresh seafood displayed, and many famous people's signatures can be seen. The seafood bowl comes in 7 varieties, and you can choose between regular (320g) and small (250g) sizes of rice. I opted for the small size and was served a small bowl filled with a generous amount of seafood, making it a bit challenging to eat. The dish includes fresh tuna, salmon, scallops, and plenty of salmon roe. The dish also comes with two types of soy sauce - a sweet special Kyushu soy sauce and a kelp soy sauce - for you to enjoy as you like. The salmon slices, shaped like flower petals, are thick and substantial, with a rich texture. Even though I don't usually enjoy salmon, I found this one to be delicious. The scallops were tender and flavorful, different from what I usually have in Tokyo. The salmon roe, although small in size, was plentiful. As Shihachi Sengyo-ten has an off-site store, the seafood is fresh and enjoyable even in Tanuki Koji. I believe it offers better value for money compared to the tourist-oriented shops outside the area.

Visited in June 2023 during a business trip to Sapporo. This restaurant is located at the back when you enter from the arcade. We arrived close to closing time for our second round, but it's a place where you'd want to come back and take your time. The food is delicious and fresh! The portions are generous and amazing! While it's a seafood restaurant, the large Zangi is truly Big!

I always thought there would be a long line and I would have to wait, but maybe because it was a late lunch time, I was able to sit down easily. I ordered the limited quantity Shirasu Yukke seafood bowl and clam soup. When it arrived in about 10 minutes, I hesitated for a moment because of the height of the serving, it seemed difficult to eat. Since I wanted it to look good on social media, I asked for less rice, which was served in a rice bowl-sized portion. When it arrived, it seemed like a small amount, but it was delicious and surprisingly filling. For men, the portion might be too small. The clam soup was delicious with plenty of ingredients. It made me want to eat more. Next time, I want to try the ochazuke with KinKi dashi.

Located on Tanuki Koji and also on North 24th Street, this restaurant is bustling on Sunday evenings around 7 pm with about 70-80% of customers being directed to the counter seats. The booth seats seem to be popular for reservations. The tea and water are self-service. Despite being open for a year, the restaurant still seems busy, with many reserved tables. The staff are all young and energetic. Choosing between sashimi platter or seafood bowl is a tough decision. The sashimi is thick and fresh, while the rice in the seafood bowl is not vinegared. The rice portion is 320 grams, with an option for a smaller 250-gram portion. There are two soy sauces available on the table - a slightly thick Rausu kelp soy sauce and a sweet special Kyushu soy sauce. You can mix wasabi and sesame seeds to dip your seafood. Adding mini salmon roe to the seafood bowl or upgrading to the luxurious "Ebi Kani Ikura Hokkai Don" for 1,980 yen is also an option. The presentation of the dishes is Instagram-worthy, with the sashimi artistically stacked on top of the bowl. The seafood is delicious, especially the shrimp, crab, and salmon roe. Finishing off with a side of Kinmedai soup for 100 yen or a fish head soup for 150 yen is recommended. You can also add additional toppings like button shrimp, snow crab, salmon roe, and sea urchin. This place is popular for a reason.

I had the seafood bowl at Shihachi Sengyo-ten in Tanuki COMICHI. The first time I visited, I tried the Shirasu Yukke seafood bowl, which was delicious and affordable at around 1000 yen. The second time, I went with some colleagues from Tokyo who were visiting, and we tried the famous 10 kinds of seafood bowl. It was packed with a variety of ingredients and rice, and the price was under 2000 yen, making it a satisfying meal with great cost performance. The Tokyo colleagues were also very happy with the meal. I would like to go back to try their sake and side dish menu next time. Thank you for the delicious meal!

The market was closed, so about half of the shops at Tanuki COMICHI were closed. I went to Shi-Hachi Sengyo-ten, which I had wanted to try. I ordered a regular lemon sour at the counter. It was a simple lemon sour, but quite delicious. For food, I ordered the sashimi assortment from the fish market for 875 yen. It came fairly quickly and had a good variety, especially the scallops and tuna were delicious. I also ordered the extra-large scallop butter grilled dish for 700 yen, but it took a while to arrive. In the meantime, I ordered the Ando-san family's rich green tea highball. It was really strong! Finally, here it is, the extra-large boomerang scallop butter grilled dish for 698 yen. It's not really extra-large, it disappeared in one bite. My excitement dropped. I'm leaving now. Thank you for the meal.

It was crowded, but since I was alone, I was able to sit at the end of the counter. I ordered the seafood bowl with less rice. It was piled up so high that it was difficult to eat... some shirasu and egg yolk fell off... The customers and the staff are all young. The energetic and friendly customer service fits perfectly with the atmosphere of the restaurant.

During my business trip in Sapporo, I visited Shi-Hachi Sengyo-ten Tanuki COMICHI store for a solo lunch. The location is in Minami 2-jo Nishi 5-chome, inside the Tanuki-koji shopping street at Tanuki COMICHI which opened in 2022. Shi-Hachi Sengyo-ten is a very popular shop on North 24-jo, and this temporary store at COMICHI quickly became a hit as well. I arrived at 11:00, and there were about 5 groups of 10 people waiting for the opening, but I was able to enter smoothly since it was a weekday. I sat at the counter seat alone, where there were special Kyushu soy sauce, special kelp soy sauce, chopsticks, and small plates available on the table, with self-service tea and water. A paper towel was provided after seating. This time, I ordered the Specialty!! Shi-Hachi's 10 kinds of seafood bowl for 1,848 yen in a regular size (320g). You can choose between regular size (320g) and small size (250g) for the rice. The dish arrived in about 10 minutes, with thick slices of sashimi piled high in a small tea bowl! The presentation focuses on appearance, so it's a bit difficult to eat, but I managed by using the provided small plate as a refuge. The rice was warm white rice. The quality of the ingredients was decent, and considering the price is under 2,000 yen, I felt it was a good value for money. They also have a variety of snacks, making it a good place for a daytime drink. I recommend visiting Shi-Hachi Sengyo-ten for a unique experience.

I learned about this shop at the Hokkaido Business IT Festival. It's located at the back of a large area with various shops. It seems to be a popular shop, and it is the largest one here. It took about 7-8 minutes from ordering to serving the dish. Even though I asked for a smaller portion of rice, it still had 230g, and it was served in a small tea cup, making it difficult to eat. It's quite a challenge to reach the rice. However, I think it's cheaper here compared to Nijo Market.

I ordered a seafood bowl with 10 kinds of seafood, whitebait, yukhoe, scallop, and fried oysters. Is there too much rice!? It's just right for two people. With this volume, it's understandable why it's popular. However, the staff is a bit scary. It might be perfect for the first stop in Komichi.

I visited the popular Sihachi fresh fish store. I had seen it in guidebooks and travel YouTubers, so I was excited to finally have the chance to go. It wasn't too crowded on a weekday afternoon, so I was able to get in without waiting. I ordered the most popular dish, the 10-variety seafood bowl. The bowl seemed a bit small, but it might have just felt that way because of the overall quantity. I can't remember all 10 varieties, but there was a good amount of white fish, all of them thick and satisfying. The seafood didn't have any fishy or watery taste, showing that it was fresh. While the visual appeal is strong, the taste is also great, making it a fantastic seafood bowl with good value for money.
