I wanted to eat dango, so I visited this shop. I sometimes pass by the front of the shop, but this was my first time buying. This time, I bought 3 "Hanazono Dango Black Sesame", 2 "Hanazono Dango Soy Sauce", and 2 "Hanazono Dango Yomogi". All the dango were delicious, but personally, I love black sesame the most!! Yomogi was my first time trying it, but it was also delicious! I would like to come back to buy more. Thank you for the meal٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶

When I went to Otaru, I had planned to visit a dumpling shop. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it, but I found out that there is a shop under the TV tower, so I visited on the last day of my 4-day trip in Sapporo. There were various colorful dumplings in the guidebook, but some of them were not available, and I couldn't eat many by myself. After some consideration, I ordered three colors and soy sauce flavor. Since I had just eaten lunch, I bought some souvenirs first and enjoyed the dumplings in the departure lobby of the airport. The "soy sauce" flavor was a bit miso-like in taste. The "three colors" had different toppings on each dumpling, so each had a unique flavor. They all had a sweet bean paste filling and the dumplings were soft, perfect for a sweet treat after a tiring walk. If I have the chance to visit Sapporo or Otaru again, I would love to try them again. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Sapporo TV Tower is located in Odori West 1-chome in Chuo-ku, Sapporo. If you head east from the Sapporo underground shopping area Aurora Town, you will come to a nearby entrance that leads to Sapporo TV Tower. Right at that entrance is this shop. Shin Kuraya is a long-established Japanese confectionery shop in Otaru. The shop here is the Sapporo Shin Kuraya store, specializing in takeout with no eat-in space. It's been here for a long time. The navy blue curtain with white letters for the famous Hanazono dango creates a sophisticated and traditional Japanese confectionery shop atmosphere. A glass showcase displays products in the aisle, including the flagship products of dango, ohagi, and manju. Dango seems to be the popular choice here. When I asked the staff, the lady recommended the dango. The Hanazono dango is priced at 108 yen each. The mitarashi anko sesame dango must be freshly made. It is soft, chewy, and bite-sized, making it easy to eat. I personally like it when the dango part is toasted to give it a fragrant taste, but these ones are not toasted. The sweet and salty mitarashi anko has the perfect taste as expected. The smooth texture of the koshi an is elegant and not too sweet. The sesame, which is sprinkled with black sesame seeds, sugar, and a hint of sesame flavor, goes well with the mochi. Even though I had just eaten lunch, I finished three pieces by myself. Sweets are a separate stomach... (laughs) There must be a reason why this place has been loved for so many years. It seems that they only accept cash payments. The wrapping paper with a simple and stylish design of flowers, birds, wind, and moon is really cool. I love this shop.

2020/12 TV Tower Underground Entrance After enjoying unlimited daytime drinking alone at a long-established dumpling shop in Otaru, I bought some souvenirs for my hard-working husband on the way home. The classic skewered dumplings cost 108 yen each, and I got mugwort, soy sauce, and black bean paste flavors. They are slightly smaller in size and soft, making them easy to eat. I also tried the three-color dumplings for 162 yen, with sesame, seaweed, and a white one that I'm not sure what it is. It has a chewy texture similar to white rice cakes, showing the reliable and delicious taste of this long-established shop. Thank you for the meal.

This shop is a small store located next to the escalator from Sapporo underground shopping street Aurora Town to the TV Tower. There is no seating available. This is my first review, but I have used this shop several times before. On this day, I bought skewered dumplings. I especially like the white bean paste filling. It was delicious. It's convenient at around 100 yen per skewer, so it's nice. I will definitely use this shop again in the future. Thank you for the meal.

This is Datong. I will be procuring sweets to improve work productivity at Shinkuraya located underground of the TV tower. The skewered dumplings here are soft and I love them, but they are not suitable for a quick snack, right? It's weird to see a boss suddenly eating skewered dumplings, right? Haha. So, I chose sesame manju for 151 yen including tax and walnut mochi for 135 yen including tax. This way, I can easily take a bite. First, the sesame manju! The rich aroma of black sesame and the perfect match with the sweet bean paste. This is quite good! The fragrance of black sesame and sweet bean paste lingers in my mouth for a long time, giving a satisfying feeling during work. Walnut mochi is very soft and melts instantly in one bite. The walnuts disappear quickly, leaving only the taste of saliva. Delicious manju and mochi. I will definitely go buy them again. Thank you for the meal.

I have used the underground "Shinkuraya" at the TV tower several times... I feel like I reviewed it before (did I mention it?). I paid the unfriendly lady and received "dorayaki" and "walnut mochi". I packed them in my backpack and took them home. Let's eat. Dorayaki... the skin was slightly dry, the red bean paste was very ordinary. Walnut mochi... soft and chewy with a good walnut texture, and the sweetness was quite mild. Is "Shinkuraya" all about dumplings after all? Thank you for the meal.

Suddenly, I felt like eating some sweets, so I decided to visit Hanazono Dango, a place I had been curious about for a while. I was surprised to find a dango shop in such a location, as many Sapporo locals seem to have never even been to the TV Tower. The dango here are small but priced at a reasonable 108 yen each, which is appreciated in this day and age. I went in the evening and they had a limited selection, but it was clear that they were popular. I tried the zunda, sesame, three-color, and yomogi dango. I also tried some interesting sweets like plum anko manju, sweet sake financier, and matcha souffle. I paid in cash. The plum anko and sweet sake flavors were quite unique! Each treat had its own strong personality. As for the dango, I had only ever tried the packaged ones from supermarkets before and wasn't a big fan. But after trying the fresh dango here, I was pleasantly surprised by how different and delicious they were. They were soft, chewy, and satisfying. The sesame dango had a nice crispy texture as well. Everything was delicious, and they even wrapped them in paper, making them perfect for souvenirs. I will definitely be coming back for more. I realized that I should definitely be visiting specialty cake and wagashi shops more often. Highly recommended, thank you for the meal!

After finishing work at Daito, on my way home, I came across this place. I used to eat here often in the past, but I haven't had it in a while, so I decided to buy some to take home. It was in the evening, and although the selection was a bit reduced, they had everything in stock. This time, after a long time, I bought 5 different types of Hanazono dango, which is a staple of Arakuraya. When you order, they put extra sesame or soy sauce on it, which is nice. The filling of these dango is generous and all the flavors are delicious. The black bean paste has a subtle sweetness and a smooth texture. The matcha flavor has a hint of bitterness within the sweetness. The white bean paste is gently sweet, with the deliciousness of white kidney beans. The sesame dango is full of sesame flavor, not too sweet, and easy to eat. The soy sauce dango has a more pronounced soy sauce flavor compared to typical mitarashi dango. They were all consistently delicious, and I devoured them in no time. If I have the chance, I'll definitely buy more than just dango next time. Thank you for the meal!

The area under the Sapporo TV Tower is a paradise zone full of charm. While cakes are delicious, there are moments when you just crave for traditional Japanese sweets. Hanazono Dango (white bean paste, matcha, black bean paste, sesame, soy sauce) 108 yen each x 5 = 540 yen. Nowadays, a dango for 108 yen each is cheaper than convenience stores. The chewy dango comes in a set of 4, one extra compared to the usual 3 dango set (laughs). They are generously topped with elegantly sweet bean paste, and the sesame and soy sauce add a nice touch to the flavor. Three were consumed on the same day, and two the next day, but the dango made with rice flour remained soft and delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I visited Sapporo Shin-Kuraya TV Tower store for the first time! After drinking coffee, I found a dumpling shop that looked delicious, so I bought some. The dumplings are made with mugwort and do not contain sweet bean paste, as the staff made sure to mention. The staff member was very straightforward and easygoing. I bought mugwort dumplings along with black bean paste, sesame, and soy sauce flavors, all for 108 yen each including tax, which is very cheap. I tried the mugwort dumplings first, and the taste of mugwort was distinct. However, I found myself wanting some sweet bean paste. The black bean paste was probably the most delicious. The dumplings were stretchy like mochi and very tasty. The sesame and soy sauce flavors were also very good, just as I expected. I had a delicious time enjoying the dumplings at Shin-Kuraya. Thank you for the meal!

We had a meeting around here, so after walking around a bit, we decided to buy some souvenirs for my wife. This place has been around for a long time, even since I was a child and used to wander around Aurora Town. I bought all kinds of dumplings except for grass dumplings. I recommend the sesame and red bean paste ones. The sesame flavor is really good, not like the cheap sesame sauce. It has a smooth and moist ground sesame powder. The sweetness is just right, and the powder sticks well to the dumpling, making it very satisfying. As for the red bean paste, I especially recommend the white and black bean paste ones. The matcha bean paste has a weak tea flavor, mostly just for the color. The unique wave-like shape of the bean paste on the dumplings from this Shin-Kuraya shop has a strong sweetness impact. The sweetness of all the bean pastes is quite strong. It needs to be this sweet to feel like you've really eaten something. Considering the current situation, the price of 108 yen including tax is quite reasonable, right? The dumplings look a bit smaller, or is it just my imagination? Is this how they are?

I visited Shin Kuraya at the main store in Tanukikoji before, but this time I stopped by near the TV Tower for some errands. I bought three types of Hanazono dango: soy sauce, yomogi, and sesame. I tried them right away. After finishing eating, my impression was the same as when I tried them at the main store. They are soft, but a bit too sweet for my taste. However, considering they cost only 100 yen, I think it's a good deal for this quality. If you like sweet treats or have children, I'm sure they will enjoy them. Thank you for the meal.

On a certain holiday, while wandering around for lunch, I came across this place! I had heard about it before, but finally the timing was right. It's a Japanese confectionery shop with Otaru as its main store, specializing in dango, located underground at the TV Tower. The shop is on the 2nd floor underground, and they mainly rely on their showcase, attracting quite a few customers. On this day, I decided to try the "Three-color dango (150 yen)" which caught my eye from the menu. The dango on a larger skewer than the others had black sesame on the outside with red bean paste inside, nori with red bean paste inside, and the white one was a mystery, but also had red bean paste inside. I also got the "Yomogi dango (100 yen)" which was smaller and had a strong green color, with a light flavor of yomogi and a slight sweetness in the mochi itself, giving an overall sweet impression even without red bean paste. The "Goma dango (100 yen)" came with a generous coating of black sesame, which paired well with the chewy mochi. Lastly, the "Hanazono dango matcha dango (100 yen)" was a bit tricky to eat as it was lying flat when I got home, but it had a sweet and rich matcha flavor against the white bean paste. The dango were a bit small, but the affordable prices were a pleasant surprise. Thank you for the meal.

Welcome.---------- October 2018 ----------Located in the underground shopping area near the TV Tower entrance, this traditional Japanese sweets shop offers a variety of items such as the famous dorayaki and manju. I wanted to try the "salted soybean bun" but it was sold out. They tend to sell out by the evening surprisingly fast. It's best to eat what you buy on the same day as they don't use preservatives, and the next day they tend to become hard. My favorite is the mitarashi dango. They dip it in mitarashi sauce right in front of you and the combination of sweet and salty flavors is irresistible. The dango is soft and chewy with a slight stretchiness when pulled from the skewer. It seems to be smaller than before though. The matcha dango has a nice balance of sweetness from the red bean paste and a hint of matcha flavor. I'm glad to be Japanese.
