On March 21, 2015, the weather was fine and I felt like going to Niseko for a hot spring bath, but I had visitors in the morning, so I decided to visit this hot spring instead. If you go straight on Route 36 towards Chitose, you will see a sign on the left side, so make a left turn. After a while, you will see a couple more signs leading into the mountains. It has been a while since I visited this hot spring. It used to be very old and scary, but now the facilities and the hot spring itself are very clean. The hot spring here has a high alkaline content, similar to a moor hot spring, and it is brown in color, great for the skin! The outdoor bath has water so dark you can't see your feet, so be careful of the steps. The shower has a large amount of hot water. Women can use their own hairdryer in a spacious area. I visited in the evening. The hot spring is warm, allowing for a long relaxing bath. There are rest areas, dining rooms, and even a Genghis Khan room, making it a comfortable space. It is not too crowded, giving it a hidden hot spring feel. I had a soba tempura set. The water and tea are self-service. Genghis Khan and bamboo shoot menus are recommended for this season, but the bamboo shoots were not available yet. When they are in season, you can buy processed bamboo shoots at a low price. The soba noodles tasted dry, but were delicious with a rich soba flavor. The tempura was surprisingly good, with two large prawn tempura that were well-prepared and delicious. There were also onions, eggplants, and sweet potatoes, all generously served. Grated radish and ginger as condiments were a nice touch. After the meal, I relaxed in the hot spring for a detox. It was a moving experience to visit a hot spring after a long time. I felt a bit tired from the hot spring on the way back towards Sapporo on Route 36, as the traffic was heavy, but it was a perfect drive for my tired body. Thank you for the wonderful meal!
