【2013.2 revisit】I visited "Kodo" again. It was a cold day and I was craving for some warm hot pot. I ordered the "Kodo" Jidori Chicken Hot Pot (with soy milk) for 2,800 yen, which includes seven dishes (appetizers, salad, duck loin sushi, today's special, paper hot pot, soba noodles, dessert). The soy milk hot pot was delicious with a rich flavor. The three appetizers that come first are also very tasty. The special dish of the day was fried chicken, which was juicy and delicious. Overall, I was very satisfied with my meal. 【2012.12 revisit】I had a year-end party at "Kodo," which had just opened in November 2012. We ordered the "Kodo" Kawachi Duck Hot Pot (with soy sauce) for 3,300 yen, which includes seven dishes (appetizers, salad, duck loin sushi, today's special, paper hot pot, soba noodles, dessert). The duck hot pot in the paper pot was delicious and had a nice atmosphere. The soba noodles at the end, served in the hot pot broth, was a unique experience and tasted delicious. It was a stylish restaurant with delicious hot pot, and I was very satisfied. 【2012.11】A wonderful restaurant opened in Toyonaka on November 15, 2012! I was invited to the reception and was amazed by the beautiful interior design and attention to detail. The restaurant serves hand-ground soba noodles for lunch and duck, chicken, wine, and sake for dinner. The restaurant is decorated with paper-cut motifs, which are very stylish. The ingredients, including soba, duck, chicken, shrimp, vegetables, rice, water, eggs, and kelp, are all carefully selected. I had a course meal with individual items, which was very affordable. The dishes were all delicious, especially the duck dishes and the homemade soba noodles. Overall, it was a very satisfying dining experience.

The restaurant is famous for its oyakodon and has been featured in the media. I had been curious about it for a while. I arrived around 2 pm and the restaurant was quite busy but I was able to enter without waiting. The atmosphere inside was calm and pleasant. The staff were polite and friendly. Although the oyakodon is famous, the restaurant originally specializes in soba, so I was a bit indecisive when looking at the menu. After some contemplation, I decided to try the *Extreme Special Oyakodon for 1500 yen. It was made with top-quality Kishu duck (thigh and meatball) and Tajima chicken, simmered in their special sauce (additive-free) and topped with rich red egg. The egg was a beautiful orange color and very rich in flavor. The sauce was elegant and delicious. I also tried the *Mini Seiro Soba for 550 yen, made with homemade stone-ground buckwheat. The soba was white, thin, and beautifully made, with a smooth texture and a hint of sweetness. It was incredibly delicious. It's no wonder this place is popular, the food was truly delicious. I plan to visit again with my husband, who loves soba, and try more of their soba dishes next time.

Kodō-san is also a favorite restaurant. I have been going there for many years, even though it's not on Tabelog. When I went this time, they had added some autumn menu items. The cozy atmosphere and delicious food make the sake go down smoothly. The oyakodon has been featured on TV many times and is famous. The soba is also delicious, but I was too full to finish it, which was a shame. Looking forward to next time. *Otosshi *Duck ham and fig with Japanese-style cream cheese *Koji fried chicken *Duck cutlet *Dashimaki tamago *Natural shrimp and duck meatball fry with Japanese chili sauce *Wooden bowl oyakodon

I headed north on my bicycle and around 1:05 PM, even though it was past lunchtime, there were two people waiting outside. I also waited in line for about 10 minutes and was seated in the waiting area inside. When I was asked for my order, I had originally thought of ordering a set meal, but changed my mind and ordered the deluxe chicken and egg rice bowl with a small serving of warm soba noodles. I was seated at the counter in the middle and my food was served in about 10 minutes. The chicken and egg rice bowl was delicious with runny eggs, although the chicken had some chewy parts. The soba noodles had a light broth but a rich flavor, although the noodles themselves were just okay. I also tried the black pepper seasoning, but it didn't make much of a difference. The miso soup was the most delicious part of the meal. I had thought it was a bar for drinks in the evening, but the service was surprisingly polite and the restaurant seemed a bit more upscale. I paid with my card, spending 2050 yen, and decided to head to the convenience store.

I've been wanting to go to this restaurant for a while now, so I took the day off work to have lunch there. Even though I don't usually like duck, I heard this place serves delicious duck dishes so I was looking forward to it. I ordered the parent and child bowl, and my partner ordered the set meal. The parent and child bowl was really tasty! The set meal had a high-class feel to it as it came out like a course meal (appetizers, grilled chicken, soba, dessert, all brought out at different times by the staff). The service was also excellent (there were many good things about it that I can't write about here). Thank you for the delicious meal!

Look at this beautiful visual of soba noodles! This time, I tried soba noodles at Kodou in Toyonaka City, famous for its oyakodon. I love duck, and the Kishu duck here is amazing! The Kodou Black - Namba is 1780 yen. They use homemade stone-ground soba made from 100% pure domestic soba seeds sourced from Hokkaido, Shinshu, Mt. Yatsugatake, Fukui, Shimane, etc., and ground in-house using a stone mill according to the season. The soba noodles are delicious, and the duck is outstanding. The soup, although black in color, is not spicy and very tasty. I also tried the seasonal mixed rice with duck loin, which was surprisingly delicious with chestnuts. The chestnut rice was not too sweet, had a crispy texture, and paired perfectly with the duck loin. I love duck loin so much! My companion had the special tempura bowl with natural shrimp, and the spicy soba noodles with chicken and mushrooms, both of which were excellent. I will definitely visit again! I visited during the day on a regular day. I arrived 10 minutes before the opening time and was the first in line. Today, the store opened on time with a line of 3 people. However, by the time I left, there was a wait. This place is famous for its Oyakodon, which I had been curious about after reading other reviews. The interior had 11 counter seats and 22 table and tatami seats, with a calm and dimly lit traditional Japanese atmosphere. This time, I ordered the "Kodo's Premium Oyakodon for 2500 yen" and it was served in about 11 minutes. The Premium Oyakodon came with appetizers such as pickled bettarazuke, chicken with plum koji, and avocado with meat miso, all of which were delicious. The Oyakodon used Kishu duck, Omi Shamo thigh, breast, and seseri, which had a chewy texture and rich flavor. The egg yolk in the center was thick and very impressive. The sauce was also premium, made with the finest re-brewed soy sauce, the finest mirin, and Takarayama tamari. It seemed a bit strong at first, but it had an elegant taste. It was a premium Oyakodon with ceramics and gold powder. However, I feel like even without the premium features, it would have been excellent. Thank you for the meal.

I had some errands in Toyonaka, so I went to Kodo for lunch. I had seen it on TV or social media before and had it on my list. Even though it was lunchtime, I was able to get in without waiting. I was aiming for the oyakodon, but decided to try the soba set as well. The oyakodon had a vibrant orange yolk in the middle, and it tasted just as rich and flavorful as it looked, with a presence that enveloped the entire bowl. The bowl itself had a delicious broth, and the chicken was also rich and flavorful, with the surprise addition of meatballs. I have more errands in this area, so I definitely want to come back again.

On a regular lunch outing with three generations of a family, we traveled from Kyoto city without using the highway, making a few detours along the way, and arrived slightly past the opening time, after a 103-minute journey. It was our first visit to this place. There was one couple already seated when we arrived, followed by three groups of five people. The restaurant had a simple and modest exterior, without any unnecessary decorations. We almost missed it while passing by. Inside, the space was stylish and sophisticated, not what you would expect from a soba restaurant. However, this place was indeed a soba restaurant, but with a strong focus on quality. Our family, who loves duck, was particularly interested in trying the Premium Duck and Egg Rice Bowl. We ordered the Mini Soba Set with Premium Offal and Duck Rice Bowl, which seemed to be the most popular choice. The Premium option is limited to 10 servings per day and includes Kishu duck thigh meat, tsukune, heart, and liver. A rare combination, but with a slightly rich flavor that can be adjusted by mixing in the egg yolk. It was truly delicious. We chose the soba served in a steamer instead of the traditional dipping style, made from soba flour from Fukushima prefecture. Of course, we also had soba-yu (soba water) served on the side. The soba here is ground in-house, and the premium duck, raised organically and with access to the outdoors, is a rare find in the market. We left the restaurant feeling satisfied, full, and content after a truly blissful dining experience.

I visited the restaurant for lunch with friends on a holiday. We arrived a little after 11 am and the place was already almost full. It's better to make a reservation if you have a group of three or more. I tried the summer vegetable jelly soba and soba tea pudding. The soba had a good texture and was delicious, but I questioned if the price of 1580 yen for a single dish was reasonable. The pudding didn't leave a great impression on me, and the same goes for the crepe my friend ordered. I had a better experience eating at their other location near Midorikuchi Station at night. It was a bit disappointing. Thank you for the meal.

I finally got to go to a place I've always wanted to go! I was torn between getting a set menu or ordering a la carte, but this time I went with a la carte. It was very stylish and delicious. The price of each dish was a bit high, but it was worth it. I forgot to take a picture of the soba!

I have always wanted to go to this restaurant. I love duck, soba, oyakodon, and wine. For duck lovers, "Kodo Hachin" is irresistible. Just that alone can finish a bottle of wine!! There were other dishes I wanted to try, but it was too much for two people. I think it would be nice to come with 5-6 people and share various dishes. The oyakodon and soba at the end were also excellent. I would like to go for lunch next time.

I came to eat Oyakodon with my mom friends! I sometimes make it at home, but it somehow tastes different here. Let's try to recreate it at home like Kodo-san! (impossible) ♣️ Food List ♣️ ☆ Tomato Cold Soba ~ Soy Milk Broth, Basil Oil ☆ My selection. I was captivated by the recommended menu! It's something that girls would like~ The soup with bonito flakes aroma spreads in the mouth and is incredibly delicious! Tomatoes and soy milk go well together. I'm happy that it comes with duck meat♡ The contrast between basil oil and tomatoes is beautiful. The soba noodles are firm, and the chilled soup is exquisite!! ☆ Sun Ma Po Oyakodon ☆ Mom friend's selection. Limited to 10 servings per day! A greedy set where you can eat both Ma Po and Oyakodon (not to sound cheap). The chicken is tender, and the egg is delicious too (I had two bites). ☆ Rich Soba Roasted Barley Tea Pudding ☆ It's my first time trying roasted barley tea flavor. I can eat it forever (*´∀`*) I heard that a new store has opened in Awaji Island. The staff's service was also good. Tamaki couple is here♡♡ Chia Pai is here \(//∇//)\ Next time, I will bring my child along! Thank you for the meal(╹◡╹)♡

I visited around 11:30 on a weekday. There was only one group waiting inside the restaurant. We were seated in about 10 minutes. Today, I decided to try the summer menu - fried eggplant and myoga soba. The set came with soba and a mountain pepper oil on top, and the staff explained that we could add it to our liking. It was my first time trying mountain pepper oil. When I added it, the whole soba was filled with a refreshing mountain pepper flavor, which was very delicious. It cost around ¥1500.

I made a reservation for lunch opening time and visited. - Extreme/Top-quality Oyakodon 1,500 yen The appearance was stunning, with a slightly orange-colored yolk that I broke while eating. The deliciousness of the dashi, typical of Kansai cuisine, combined with the rich taste of the egg. The meat seemed to be a combination of duck and aged chicken, allowing you to taste various meats. It was truly a beautiful Oyakodon. - [Limited time and quantity] Sun Ma Po Oyakodon 1,600 yen The limited quantity Sun Ma Po Oyakodon is a unique Oyakodon finished with Ma Po. Personally, I didn't find it too spicy, and when you add the "Karakigoku" chili powder from Gion, it enhances the sweetness of the egg, making this also a good Oyakodon. #Oyakodon #Chicken #Duck #Egg #Creamy #Lunch #Toyonaka #Toyonaka City #Osaka

⭐Special Motsu (offal) and Chicken Bowl⭐Kodou Black - Namba of Jet Black Duck @ Kodou Address: 5-2-2 Honmachi, Toyonaka, Osaka Nearest Station: Toyonaka Station - 6-minute walk Closed on Wednesdays Website: [website] I visited this restaurant for the first time on a Sunday afternoon in June 2023. I discovered this place through a gourmet book by Kenkoba, which talked about the popular soba noodles and chicken bowl served here. The restaurant opened in 2012, and I have recently developed an interest in rice bowl dishes. I arrived two minutes before the opening time of 11 am and became the 16th person in line. The restaurant is spacious and welcoming, with a modern Japanese atmosphere. I ordered the following dishes: - Special Motsu (offal) and Chicken Bowl - ¥1600 - Kodou Black - Jet Black Duck - ¥1680 Total: ¥3280 The Special Motsu and Chicken Bowl was a special version of the regular chicken bowl, featuring duck offal in addition to chicken and egg. The dish was rich and flavorful, with a generous amount of egg topping. The flavors were enhanced by the unique ingredients, and the dish was truly delicious. The Kodou Black - Namba of Jet Black Duck was a ramen-like dish made with duck broth, kombu, and soy sauce. It had a complex and rich flavor profile, with tender duck meat and a variety of toppings that complemented the broth perfectly. The handmade soba noodles were also a standout, with a fragrant aroma that paired well with the duck flavors. Overall, the dining experience at Kodou was exceptional, with delicious food and attentive service. I highly recommend trying their signature dishes for a memorable meal.

I used to pass by and see a long line, which caught my interest. I arrived 15 minutes before the Saturday lunch opening and was the second group in line. More people started lining up after me. They opened and seated us in the tatami room. Lucky me! I ordered the oyakodon with soba set. Both dishes were more filling than I expected, and I probably didn't need the soba. I was curious about the summer soba menu. I'll try that next time! Oyakodon was ¥1500 and soba was ¥550.

Oyakodon, soba, and Kishu duck dishes are very popular in the northern part of Osaka. I visited a restaurant in Toyonaka where they had a limited-time dish called Taiyo Mapo-don, which combines mapo tofu and oyakodon. Despite the heavy rain, I was able to get a table easily. I chose to add a mini soba set for an additional 550 yen. The Taiyo Mapo-don had a beautiful presentation with mapo tofu on top of the oyakodon, topped with an egg yolk and surrounded by minced meat, resembling the sun. The egg was fluffy and the flavors of oyakodon and mapo tofu complemented each other well. The Kishu duck, soaked in flavorful broth, was also delicious. The mini soba had a nice aroma and I enjoyed drinking the soba soup till the last drop. I couldn't resist trying the soba tea pudding for dessert, which had a rich flavor of roasted soba and eggs. Initially, I was skeptical about the combination of mapo tofu and oyakodon, but they worked together perfectly. This dish is a must-try as it is only available for a limited time.

I was busy at the government office from the morning, running around for procedures. I realized that I hadn't eaten anything after drinking my "Shikuwasa juice" and doing weight training in the morning. When I asked my wife where she wanted to go for lunch, she requested her favorite restaurant, Kodo. It was my second time writing a review for this place, but I've been here over 20 times. It's a special place for my wife, who rarely goes to restaurants alone. We decided to go for lunch, and despite the long line, we waited for about 40 minutes before finally getting a table. The food was delicious as always, and we enjoyed our meals. I can't express how good it was in my diary-level review... it was just so tasty! We'll definitely be coming back here many more times in the future. Thank you for the meal.
