Located about a 5-minute walk from Kitashinchi Station, behind Dojima Avanza. It has a Foodlog rating of 3.66, which is quite high. After work in winter, I often crave something warm to eat, and I tend to lean towards soup, which is equivalent to ramen. I decided to visit this place that was in the back of my mind. It was called Pepe or Popo... I couldn't remember exactly, but I thought I'd figure it out once I got there. As I followed my memory and reached the building, I saw that both "Pepe" and "Popo" were on the same floor of the same building! I climbed the stairs with a sense of disbelief, and although Popo didn't seem to be the one, Pepe also had an entrance that didn't quite look like a ramen shop. Opening the door nervously, I saw a customer eating ramen inside! In many ways, it was a relief (laughs). There were many comments about the salt ramen on Foodlog, so I ordered the "Papa Shio" for 900 yen. After ordering, I noticed the limited-time "White Miso with Cream Cheese and Soy Milk Papa Miso" for 1,100 yen. I was curious, but I decided to try it next time. The interior of the shop was quite small with only 7 seats. The Mexican-style decor didn't feel like a typical ramen shop. The portion seemed a bit small, perhaps mindful of finishing the ramen. Along with the chashu, there were skewers of meatballs and pork rolls, which was a first for me in ramen shops. Both the chashu and skewers were delicious. The soup contained chicken, chicken broth, kelp, and even clam broth. It had a slightly rich flavor that wasn't too heavy, which was great. The medium-thick straight noodles were slurp-worthy. I think ordering a rice dish from the side menu would have been perfect. They serve lunch and are open until 3 am, so I will definitely visit again. Thank you for the meal.

The ramen set meal for first-time customers is 800 yen on the lunch menu. You can choose between soy sauce or salt flavor. I chose soy sauce with extra noodles for 100 yen and added chashu for 200 yen. It also comes with rice or onigiri, natto, and unlimited raw egg. You get two types of pickles as a service. The noodles are medium-thin, the soup is fish-based, and the toppings include bamboo shoots, green onions, bean sprouts, and two slices of chashu. The customer service is friendly and the cost performance is great. Overall rating: A-

I came to Shinchi in the north for various reasons and had lunch at "Pepe Ramen" for the first time during lunch hours. The lunch set includes a choice of "salt or soy sauce" ramen with either rice or rice ball for 800 yen, which is a great deal. I ordered "soy sauce ramen with sesame salt rice ball" today. The soup had a strong seafood flavor and umami, with a rich soy sauce taste that was delightful. The rolled chashu was tender and delicious, pairing well with the rice ball. The thin straight noodles had a nice texture and flavor, making it a very delicious meal. This was my 279th bowl of ramen this year.

I was recommended to try the "Paitan" by an acquaintance, so I asked the shop owner for a recommendation and was told to try the salt flavor. I ordered the salt flavor and it was delicious. It was a seafood-based salt ramen with a good clam broth, topped with grilled chicken skewers, char siu, and boiled eggs. It was very tasty! Next time, I want to try the Paitan flavor.

The staff guided me to this place, which I would never have found without someone who knew about it. It looks like a snack bar at first glance. It seems like you can only enter if you've been drinking. Since I had just finished drinking, I hesitated but decided to try the clam ramen. The noodles seemed to have basil mixed in. The noodles had a faint aroma. The soup was oilier than I expected. I imagined something a little lighter since it had clams, but it was surprisingly filling. I felt like the clam broth didn't really come through in the ramen. I'd like to try a different ramen next time.

This was my first time visiting, Pepe-san. For lunch, they only offer two types: salt and soy sauce (¥800 including tax). This time, I had the salt ramen! You can choose between rice and onigiri (up to 2 pieces). There were about 5-6 different fillings for the onigiri, so you can choose your favorite. The onigiri were small but individually wrapped in plastic wrap. The toppings are different for lunch and dinner. The noodles were thin and slightly firm, but had a good texture and mixed well with the soup. I got so absorbed in eating it. Self-service items like water, raw egg, pickles, garlic, pepper, and shichimi are available. With only 7 counter seats, it's nice for a quick solo meal. It's light, but adding garlic gives it a strong punch and allows for flavor variations, making it enjoyable until the end. I definitely want to go back again!

It's a hot weekday at 12:00 in Kita-Shinchi, on the second floor of a mixed-use building. The small, cluttered, ethnic-themed interior has a counter with 5 seats and 2 tables, all tightly packed to accommodate 7 guests. There is no line, as customers leave and are promptly replaced. Self-service for water and alcohol is provided, which is rare these days. Lunch options include salt or soy sauce ramen, with rice or onigiri available on the table along with umeboshi, shinko, and raw egg. The table may take a bit to clear, but once you order, the food arrives relatively quickly, in about 3-4 minutes. The ramen is easy to eat with a flavorful broth and thin noodles, which may contribute to the quick service. I mixed the rice and egg into the soup, added chashu, and sprinkled black pepper from the table mill. It was filling and satisfying. Serving ramen in a snack bar setting feels like hitting the jackpot, and the humble female owner manages everything alone. She's working hard. The only downside is the tight space. The meal cost 1300 yen, and I enjoyed it. Thank you for the meal.

In the area of Kitashinchi, this restaurant is quite famous, but I finally got to go. It feels quite sinful to have ramen as a finisher after dinner... so I'll go for a small size to atone for my sins. It's annoying that the prices are the same from small to large, but I guess I understand since most of the cost is in the soup. It's my first time, so I ordered the classic shio ramen. The soup, toppings, and noodles all tasted great, very delicious! I can see why this place is popular. I want to try more varieties.

After drinking, you can still eat this one bowl‼️ Located in Osaka, Kitashinchi, Bepe Ramen is on the 2nd floor of NIPPO Kitashinchi Building, facing Doshima Kamidori. For first-time visitors, it may be a bit difficult to find this hidden gem of a restaurant. You can judge by the signboard at the storefront and the signboard above the door, so muster up the courage to open the door, and you will see a relief with the restaurant's name right in front of you. Just opening the door won't let you see inside the restaurant, so if you have bad timing, the place may be full. The interior has 4 counter seats and 2 small counter seats. On this day, I tried the "Pepe Shio DX." I was also curious about the limited menu, but I opted for the "Pepe Shio DX" on this day. I helped myself to water from the water server and waited for a while, and then the ramen was served. The soup was refreshing yet rich in the umami and depth of chicken. The noodles made by the noodle shop Teiaku had a glossy texture and a firm bite, making it easy to slurp and swallow smoothly. The soft chashu that crumbled easily even when picked up with chopsticks was excellent. Pepe celebrated its 12th anniversary on August 1st. Congratulations, Mr. Momoki. Although it's a bit late, I presented a NO NOODLE, NO LIFE. Gold collaboration sticker to commemorate the 10th anniversary. It was really delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a ramen restaurant in Osaka's Kita-Shinchi for the first time! I arrived on a Saturday afternoon at 8 o'clock, and there were no other customers, so I was seated immediately! The restaurant was located on the second floor of a building in Kita-Shinchi, which made it a bit hard to find! I ordered the salt ramen, and the smooth salt flavor paired perfectly with the thin noodles! It was delicious!

First visit! There were about 7 seats at the counter, and I arrived around 11:30, so the restaurant was empty. However, there was a wait while I was eating. You can choose between salt or soy sauce ramen, and this time I chose salt. You can also choose white rice or onigiri as a set, and you also get a raw egg, natto, and pickles for only 800 yen, which is cheap! For this price, the taste is... delicious! It's not a light taste, but rather has a strong flavor. It might be a lunch price, but it's still cheap for this area in Kita-Shinchi! This set is so delicious that even if it was a thousand yen, I would still feel it's cheap. I will go back for lunchtime and try the soy sauce next time.

When it comes to going to the second or third ramen spot in Kitashinchi, this is the place to go. Located on the second floor of a mixed-use building, this ramen shop has a hidden, cozy atmosphere that might make you unsure if it's actually a ramen shop until you enter. The interior of the shop is small, with only about 6 or 7 counter seats. Depending on the timing, there might be a line. This time, I ordered the Pepe Salt Paitan ramen. The rich chicken broth really hits the spot after drinking. It's delicious.

Head to 'Pepe Ramen' in Kita-ku, Osaka. It is located on the 2nd floor of NIPPO Kitashinchi Building, about 190m south from JR Tozai Line Kitashinchi Station exit 11-21. Upon arriving at the shop, you will be greeted by a bar-like door. Inside, you will find a tight space with unique miscellaneous items scattered around, and 6 counter seats. I visited on a Wednesday night, 30 minutes after opening, with no other customers. The restaurant is located in a drinking district, so it may get busier later in the evening. On the table, you will find garlic soy sauce, yuzu shichimi, and mixed pepper for flavor enhancement. Water is self-service. I ordered the 'Pepe Shio DX' for 1,100 yen. You can choose the noodle portion size from 80g, 120g, or 160g for the same price, but if you don't specify, it will be 120g. The chicken clear broth with lots of chicken oil floating on top is made using not only chicken bones but also whole chicken, along with dashi from Rausu kombu and shiitake mushrooms, and the umami of clams (dried scallops?). The salt seasoning is mixed in, creating a clear yet robust soup. The saltiness is not overpowering, allowing you to enjoy the umami without hesitation. The firm, thin straight noodles have a nice crunch, which I personally like. They are low in water content, so it's inevitable that the sweet spot is short, making it ideal to slurp them up quickly. The skewers include chicken meatballs with ginger-infused cartilage and pork belly wrapped in white leeks with a smoky oil finish. The thinly sliced chashu, well-cooked without being dry, has a subtle soy sauce aroma that stands out even more in the salt soup. Other toppings include a creamy yolk marinated egg, menma, and garnished green onions. This high-quality bowl is too good to be the last drink of the night. Thank you for the treat!

Ramen set meal (salt flavor) for 800 yen. Located on the 2nd floor of a mixed-use building in Kita-Shinchi. It's like a ramen bar. The ramen is cheap and comes with rice or onigiri. They also give a free egg, and apparently you can ask for natto too. The salt ramen had a light and delicious soup.

This is Pepe Ramen‼️ Located in Kita-Shinchi in Umeda, I don't usually go there, but I happened to be nearby for work, so I visited for lunch‼️ I've heard the name quite a bit but never got around to going until now‼️ It's on the second floor of a building with bars and pubs‼️ I went a little past 12 pm and of course, it was full of office workers‼️ I waited a bit and got inside‼️ The interior is like a bar, as expected‼️ They only serve set meals for lunch, it seems‼️ This time, I had the salt ramen‼️ It came with rice as part of the ramen set‼️ The soup is a light salt broth made from chicken, kelp, and vegetables, very gentle and clear‼️ The noodles are cooked slightly firm, thin and smooth‼️ They go well with the light salt broth, very delicious‼️ The crunchy texture of green onions and bean sprouts, as well as the chewy bamboo shoots, add to the enjoyment‼️ The chashu is tender and can be easily torn with chopsticks‼️ The fat is just right and tasty‼️ I topped the rice from the set with a raw egg and soy sauce from the table‼️ It's like a TKG (tamago kake gohan) - raw egg over rice‼️ A delicious bowl with a light salt flavor and tasty egg over rice‼️ It was a tasty bowl with good value for money‼️

I went there. I went after drinking. During Golden Week, many places in Shinchi were crowded, which was troublesome. This place was open, so it was helpful. Last time I had salt flavor, so this time I had clam flavor. It was a very refreshing ramen that went well after drinking. It was the best. By the way, I chose the small size.

On April 14, 2023, around 12:00 PM, I had the ramen set meal (soy sauce flavor) at Pepe after a long time. However, I still can't decide what to order. The ramen set meal here comes with onigiri, rice, egg, and natto. I've only ever ordered onigiri here before. I actually want to try egg rice or natto rice... I've only ever ordered soy sauce ramen here before. I actually want to try salt flavor... I still can't decide. Oh well... that's how it goes, right? Despite all that, I was completely satisfied with the soy sauce ramen and onigiri. I knew they were good, but they truly lived up to the hype! It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

"Peperamen" is the place I visited after about 2 years. I ordered the Pepe Shio (salt ramen set) for 800 yen, which came with 2 rice balls or rice + raw egg + pickles. I arrived around 10:55 and got my bowl in about 5 minutes. The toppings included chashu, menma, negi, and moyashi. The noodles were Kyoto Teio medium-thin straight noodles. The soup was made from round chicken bones and salt. Last night, I was searching for a popular ramen shop within walking distance of Osaka Umeda Station, and found this place. I decided to start my ramen exploration again tomorrow. While searching, I found out that Sekai no Owari's Nakajin visited this place during a tour, and it's considered a pilgrimage site for fans. So, I decided to go on a pilgrimage too. I like to categorize and differentiate all types of noodles and genres. Now, onto the actual meal - the soup made from round chicken bones was rich in chicken flavor and had a nice depth. It paired perfectly with the Kyoto Teio noodles. The wheat fragrance was strong and the noodles had a good chewy texture. The chashu was tender and flavorful, while the menma added a nice crunch. The negi and moyashi provided a refreshing touch. The ramen beautifully adorned our bellies and brought an end to our lunch. It was delicious - thank you for the meal. Now, I need to find the next ramen shop for my next ramen adventure.

I ordered the Pepe Ramen DX with rare Galician-style char siu and seasoned egg for 1100 yen! I had high expectations since I had to give up last time due to a line formed by heavy drinkers! I finally tried the Pepe white broth soup. It was so delicious! The chicken white broth soup was surprisingly light and not too heavy, so it went down smoothly. It made me realize that chicken white broth isn't just good when it's strong! The soft bone meatballs were delicious! The pork belly wrapped in leeks was also good! Although it was supposed to come with a seasoned egg, it was buried at the bottom (;o;) It seemed like they wanted you to enjoy the entire ramen, not just the appearance. The portion size was just right, perfect after finishing the meal. I must have been lucky this time because later on, more heavy drinkers arrived and by the time I left, there was a line forming. Next time, I'd like to try the clam ramen after finishing my drink. Thank you Pepe Ramen for the delicious meal! Grazie Mille!
