【Takeout】Sapporo's Hidden Specialty Butter Senbei This is the shop that manufactures and sells the famous butter senbei. The official name of the shop is Wagokuni Senbei-ten. The shop is located on a mysterious disappearing street along North 29th Street, about 350 meters west from the intersection of Higashi 15-chome and Tonden-dori. Visited for the first time on May 14, 2021, at 11:00. I usually prefer not to drive through the city center when going to Enzan & Lourdes from Shin-Sapporo, so I chose to take the circular route. The shop is located in a residential area where North 30th Street is on the right and North 28th Street is on the left. Today, I had some extra time and decided to stop by. They have a variety of individually wrapped items, and I bought a bag of 6 pieces of egg-flavored senbei. The senbei had a crispy texture with a strong sweetness, and the butter senbei was indeed crunchy like senbei. They offer a variety of flavors, making it an enjoyable experience. I would like to buy some more when passing by this area again. ♬

I came to a rarely visited place and decided to stop by a shop that I had been curious about for a while. The small shop was cozy and filled with various types of rice crackers. I was having trouble deciding which one to choose when the shop owner recommended a set that included 8 different flavors for a good deal. I also bought another set with 15 different flavors. I tried them all and each had a unique and delicious taste. I especially liked the sesame and peanut flavors! There was a name "Waguni" written on the bags, I wonder if they changed their company name? Well, I'll make sure to buy the sesame and peanut rice crackers next time! Thank you, Sapporo Senbei shop!

This is a place in Higashi-ku, located at Kitaku 28-jo Higashi 13-chome. The exact location can be confirmed using the map on Tabelog as usual. After heading to a shop on the street between Kitaku 28-jo and Kitaku 30-jo, only to find out that it was sold out and closed within 30 minutes of opening, I had to turn back. That's when I noticed this shop and decided to visit for the first time. I parked my car in front of the shop and went inside. The shelves were filled with various types of senbei. I was having trouble deciding what to get when the staff recommended the "Mix" pack, which contains 8 different types of senbei. So, I bought the "Mix" pack and left the shop. Back at home, I enjoyed the senbei as a snack. The base senbei was a sweet wheat flour senbei, and the others included peanut, miso, ginger, pumpkin seeds, black sesame, black soybeans, and corn, each with a different flavor. I was surprised to learn that the senbei are actually baked in a small workshop at the back of the shop, making them truly Made in Sapporo.

I was just in the middle of a TV shoot. They were talking about appearing on Takatoshi's show. It seems like they have TV shoots occasionally. I casually chatted while buying about 6 different kinds. These senbei have no additives, are very reliable, and delicious. It's a bit far from home, but I definitely want to stop by this senbei shop again next time I'm nearby.

In July 2018, I hadn't tried this type of rice cracker much before. This time, I purchased a pack with a variety of flavors to enjoy. The thin rice crackers were crispy and delicious. They were slightly sweet, and I was happy to taste different flavors. Thank you for the meal.

Perfect for when you want a light snack. Today's unexpected discovery is a traditional small shop specializing in Sapporo rice crackers. The friendly lady inside recommended the classic set of 8 varieties x 2 (around 350 yen) for first-timers, or the set of all 15 varieties x 1 including pumpkin flavor (around 650 yen). She even opened a bag of pumpkin flavor for us to taste. The taste is similar to Yama-otoko, simple yet delicious. The method and ingredients are simple but undeniably tasty. It's even lighter and thinner than Yama-otoko, with a nice balance of pumpkin sweetness and salty surface. Each bag contains 2 pieces. Well, of course, we tried all the flavors. Sometimes you just feel like having a snack, and this size and lightness are perfect for those moments. I've only tried about 3 flavors so far, but they're really good - great taste at a great price, a privilege of the local area. I want to come back again. Local people have it good, don't they?

On this day in March 2016, I had a regular check-up at the hospital and had to wait for a long time. While waiting, I was browsing through the food review website. Suddenly, I noticed that there was a rice cracker shop nearby. Even though I have been living in this area since I was a child, I never realized there was a rice cracker shop here. It must be because I rarely pass by that street. Intrigued, I decided to visit the shop after my hospital appointment. I arrived at the shop around 2 pm. Inside, there were beautifully packaged rice crackers for gifts, as well as bags of rice crackers for personal consumption. I couldn't decide, so I ended up buying the classic egg flavor, pumpkin seed pumpkin flavor, and sweet corn flavor. When I got home, I tried them out: - Egg flavor: A classic and subtly sweet taste with a crispy texture. Very delicious. - Sweet corn flavor: Although the corn flavor is not very strong, it can be faintly tasted. The rice cracker is slightly thin and perfect as a tea snack. Surprisingly, I really liked this one. - Pumpkin seed pumpkin flavor: This rice cracker has pumpkin seeds in it, adding a hint of saltiness that enhances the overall deliciousness. The pumpkin seeds are a nice touch. It has a nostalgic and rustic feel, and I feel reassured knowing that this shop is nearby. I will definitely be visiting more often in the future.

In August 2014, I visited Sapporo Senbei Honpo for the first time. I noticed the shop near where I had lunch and decided to stop by with my usual companion after our meal. The shop is located in Higashi-ku, Sapporo, near the former Machihigashi Elementary School. The shop has a quaint and vintage feel to it. Inside, it is compact with shelves filled with senbei, mostly thin rice crackers. Some of the senbei looked familiar, and when I mentioned this, the owner confirmed that they are also sold at a tea shop. I realized they were from Ryusen-an at Aeon Kuwanazono, which has downsized its store. During my visit around the Bon festival, they had a limited edition "Assorted Senbei Bag" available, which I decided to purchase. The bag contained 15 different types of senbei, each with two pieces in small packets. The assortment included flavors like egg, yuzu, cheese, peanuts, pumpkin, sweet corn, miso, black sesame, and more. The price was reasonable at 702 yen including tax. Sapporo Senbei Honpo offers a variety of senbei with a gentle and comforting taste, typical of Sapporo. The price is affordable at around 48 yen per bag, making it a great gift option. Personally, I particularly enjoy the pumpkin seed senbei. I look forward to trying out different flavors on my next visit. Overall, it was a delicious experience.

I received "Sapporo Senbei" rice crackers and gaufrettes as souvenirs. The main store is located in Higashi Ward, but you can also purchase them at various locations in Sapporo such as Toko Stores and Aeon. I tried a pack of 2 pieces each of 4 different kinds of rice crackers, all made in Sapporo by "Wagoku Senbei-ten". They included peanut-filled Nanbu Senbei, sesame-covered Senbei, corn-shaped Senbei, and sunflower seed Senbei. They were all made in a non-fried mold. The peanut-filled Nanbu Senbei was the most delicious, with a crispy texture from the peanuts and a slightly sweet dough. The sunflower seed Senbei was also tasty and made for a good snack. Overall, they were simply delicious. The "Sapporo Michi" gaufrette was a coffee-colored crispy pastry with white cream filling, giving off a coffee aroma and flavor. The cream was not too much, but the sweetness was just right. It would make a great souvenir.
