We went to a popular lunch spot in Yoichi with just the two of us, which took longer than expected, so we ended up being late. As we were heading back, my wife mentioned, "There's a 'Hotto Motto' nearby," and handed me a note. It turns out the curry takeout shop at AEON was no longer there, which was unexpected. I had gone to AEON alone while my wife took a nap. When I messaged her that the shop was not there, she replied, "It's next to Ajinotokado," but it was still nowhere to be found. She insisted it should be there based on a review from last May, so we went back a second time, but it was still not there. Feeling a bit frustrated, we decided to stop by "Hotto Motto" instead. It's quite new, with only the building looking renovated while the sign looked old-fashioned. I wanted fried rice, but I was intrigued by the current special, "Chicken Nanban and Ginger Pork Set," so I ended up ordering that. When I handed over a thousand yen bill, the cashier on the wall questioned me if it was really okay to not get fried rice. There were even two fried rice posters on the wall. I hesitated and ended up changing my order to fried rice. The cashier, a very pleasant lady, didn't mind the price difference and served me with a smile. I waited for about 10 minutes before my number was called, even though I was the only customer there. The food turned out to be bland, the rice was dry, lacking flavor, and texture. It was not tasty at all. I could have made a better fried rice myself. Maybe I should just make it at home. It's a hassle, but I buy bento because I want something delicious. Even Osho's fried rice is much better than this. To improve the taste, they should consider changing the name to "Hotto Motto Osho." It doesn't make sense.
