I visited the cafeteria at the University of Tokyo's Fisheries Department, which I had never been to before. It used to be a self-service style where you could choose various items and put them together, but now they have a noodle corner and another corner where you order from a menu. I had tempura soba and simmered hijiki seaweed. It cost just under 400 yen, so it was definitely a good deal for a university cafeteria.

It was a convenient student cafeteria that was open even on weekends. You can enjoy a meal at a great price while reminiscing about your student days. If you're in a hurry and the line is long, the noodle corner on the left is convenient. You can purchase without waiting in the long line.

During the lunch break of the Hakodate tour, I had lunch at the Hokkaido University Hakodate cafeteria. The style of the restaurant is the same as in Sapporo. You choose your menu, pick it up at the counter in front of the kitchen, and pay at the register at the end. There was not much of a line at the register, so I could enjoy my hot dish while it was still hot. I had "sarasa toncha" which is a cold dish. It consisted of cold tea with a strong dashi flavor, topped with pork cutlet and watercress. The watercress added a nice aromatic touch. Grated daikon radish and pickled plum were served on the side, adding a refreshing touch. Surprisingly, it was delicious. This kind of "katsu-don" is really good. It's summer after all. Thank you for the meal.
