The grilled scallops are supreme, and the seaweed tempura with sea urchin on top is also amazing! The classic additions of perilla leaves and red eggplant remain delicious as ever. The corn-flavored hige chuhai is highly aromatic and really got my mother excited as well. (It's astonishing that I forgot to take pictures of almost everything, except for the seaweed tempura with sea urchin.)

If you follow, you'll crave beer! Cheers to #ToriBee today ❣️ If you're a beer lover, check out @beeractress.koitachan’s posts ☑️
If you're looking for a private BBQ for a small group, this is the place! ✨\\ #TempuraTango // @tempura_tango
You won't believe it, but you can rent the rooftop for an all-you-can-drink BBQ starting at 6000 yen! The drinks are in cans, but they provided an overflowing cooler with plenty of options.
The amazing part? The quality of the meat was outstanding! ❤️ It might have been the best quality I've experienced at a beer garden! ✨ They had air conditioning and other amenities, but it was still pretty hot this time of year—everyone was squealing about the heat, but we truly had a fun time!
Plus, you can rent it out for just two people, making it perfect for creating summer memories with someone special. (I went with a great group of 8 friends, and there was plenty of space.)
I'd love to go again once it gets a bit cooler! I wonder how long it's open until? I really want to go back.

I came across this place on social media and visited impulsively. It was delicious. When I thought about it, I had tempura the night before and I’m having it again in a couple of days, yet here I am again with tempura. Tempura is just the best. Deliciousness wins. Everything was tasty. The light batter was crispy, and the ingredients were great. I didn’t expect to find such a rich variety of wild mountain vegetable tempura in the city. Garlic chives, urui, kogomi, taranome, and koshiabura… it was all wonderful. The blackboard mentioned ingredients sourced from specific regions, and the shrimp from Okinawa (probably from Kume Island?) was delicious. The shells were crispy too, which is great for calcium intake. The timing of the dishes didn’t quite match my rhythm that day, but that’s a personal issue; everything was delicious. Whatever you order is bound to be tasty. The starter, nanban-zuke with shining fish, and the salad with spring greens and new onions were also great. The staff were friendly, and I've found another place I’d like to visit again. I enjoyed my meal. Thank you very much.

I had been curious about this restaurant, and it had a nice atmosphere. All the food was delicious. Since we tend to drink a lot of alcohol, the price added up, but it didn’t feel overly expensive. It seems like a good spot for casual visits. They even have a BBQ space on the rooftop.

**Personal Recommendation**: Assorted tempura of seasonal vegetables (1300 yen)
This place has an izakaya-like atmosphere while offering genuinely excellent tempura. Tempura Tango opened in March 2024. I have the impression that areas like Ikegiri and Sanchicha have a casual vibe, but they also have a lot of serious establishments, and this is one of them. It’s definitely different from the trendy tempura bars or izakayas out there.
The tempura is expertly made with a brush applying the flour, resulting in a light and crispy batter covering the vegetables. I initially came for the tempura and side dishes, but I was impressed by the quality of the cold dishes as well. I particularly enjoyed the boiled spinach, which retained a bit of bitterness from the residual astringency, making it refined yet flavorful—perfect to accompany drinks. When a restaurant pays such attention to the details of the side dishes, it really excites me.
**My Personal Take**:
So far this year, this is my favorite izakaya I've visited. The menu is extensive, and when I asked, “What do you recommend? What should I definitely try here?” they suggested several dishes based on the current season and my drink preferences, essentially conveying that everything is recommended. I told them to simply pick their best items for me, and those ended up being the dishes in the images I took.
We enjoyed quite a bit—eating and drinking heavily—for about 7000 yen each, but if you just want to use it as a regular izakaya, you could likely enjoy it for around 5000 yen. The way they structured the courses to serve immediately was very appealing.
In this price range for tempura izakayas, it’s common for non-tempura items to be hits or misses, but here you can snack while enjoying the tempura and finish with some hand rolls, which is fantastic.
**Likelihood of Return**: ★★★★★
It’s my favorite izakaya I’ve visited this year. I think it would be amazing if they also offered tempura hand rolls or mini tempura rice bowls for a finish, but honestly, the menu is so extensive that you might end up too full before reaching the end. There are no pictures on the menu, so I found ordering a bit challenging, but just conveying my budget and letting them pick items was very satisfying.
**Usage Scenarios**: Business meetings / Casual outings / Dates / Solo dining / As a second stop.

Nearby Ikejiri-Ohashi Station, a new authentic tempura restaurant opened in March! It’s right near the east exit of Ikejiri-Ohashi Station, located on the 3rd floor of a building that also houses Yakiniku Techan. The sign is displayed outside. As you climb the stairs, you'll find a bright white-wood counter shining in the spacious interior. The atmosphere feels upscale, but the friendly staff welcomes you warmly. The refined aroma of the oil ignites your appetite!

To start, we had goma-dofu (sesame tofu) as an appetizer, which had a refined and balanced flavor that raised our expectations! The staff recommended we order the two types of platters. The vegetable platter included:
• Shiso leaf
• Eggplant
• Sweet potato
• Shishito peppers
• Myoga (Japanese ginger)
• Maitake mushrooms
The delicate batter enhances the natural flavors of the vegetables. The sweetness of the sweet potatoes really stood out! The wild plants platter allowed us to fully experience the arrival of spring with flavors like:
• Taranome (bitter sprout of the sweet cicely)
• Fukinotou (bitter flower bud)
• Uruoi (water plants)
• Kogomi (fern)
• Gyoja-ninniku (wild garlic)
Each ingredient showcased its bitterness, sweetness, and texture, creating a lovely experience, especially with the cherry blossoms now in bloom. This truly complements the drinking experience! Among the additional tempura ordered, the refreshing crunch of the asparagus was incredible—so sweet as soon as you bite into it. The quality of the tempura reflects both freshness and skill.
The firefly squid tempura retains its internal bitterness, giving the impression of eating it raw. It pairs perfectly with sake. The individual dishes are outstanding too! The strawberry's sweetness and the green of the nanohana were well balanced in the white miso. The sourness, sweetness, and saltiness of the nanbanzuke were in perfect harmony, along with its texture. This feels like kaiseki cuisine.
To finish, we had the sushi rolls featuring toro-taku and uni. These rolls rival those found in sushi restaurants, allowing for a luxurious tasting experience. They were refreshing yet incredibly satisfying. We were quite pleased to eat whatever we desired without holding back. The points on the flavors, dishes, and the sushi highlight the wonderful aspects of Japanese cuisine that maximally utilize seasonal ingredients. Open until 3 AM, it’s the kind of place you’ll want to visit casually. Thank you for opening in the neighborhood!

I visited for dinner, located just off the shopping street in front of the station and heading towards the Meguro River. It seems that the restaurant has recently transitioned from being the popular casual bar "Blue Ribbon Bar" group’s sauna-equipped izakaya called "Obanzaiya Ikki" in Ikeshiri Ohashi to a tempura restaurant. Other group establishments include the café "BLUE RIBBON TOKYO" in Awajima and the bar "blue ribbon ebisu" in Ebisu. The space is a comfortable size with a 10-seat counter and a semi-private table for six. I enjoyed delicious tempura and drinks, and I would like to visit again.

I had a toro-taku (fatty tuna and takuan) maki roll and added sea urchin for an extra 1000 yen! It was incredibly delicious! I also heard that there's a barbecue option available on the 4th floor, and I definitely want to try that too!

I ordered the Amaou strawberries and nanohana (rape blossoms) in white sauce, today's nanbanzuke (marinated fish), and firefly squid with miso. For the tempura, I had shrimp, shiso leaves, eggplant, myoga (Japanese ginger), pumpkin, fuki no tou (butterbur sprouts), maitake mushrooms, and various others. I absolutely love mountain vegetable tempura, and it was incredibly delicious. The light batter was crispy, and each piece looked exceptional. The slight bitterness combined with the fat created an exquisite sweetness that was pure bliss.
While I personally enjoyed everything, including the rolls and tempura, I was particularly fond of the appetizer. I believe appetizers set the first impression for a restaurant, and the happiness and deliciousness I felt from this one only elevated my experience throughout my visit. I was truly captivated by the beautiful presentation and the unique flavors.
I appreciated being able to order each piece of tempura separately, and every item was reasonably priced for an izakaya. The restaurant's concept and atmosphere were simply wonderful. It's a perfect spot for dates or girls' nights out—definitely a place you shouldn't miss. Oh, and I really want to try the rooftop barbecue course!
