[First visit on April 17, 2021] On this day, we observed the forty-ninth day since the passing of our beloved dog. We went to Shin-Sapporo Ark City, where we both grew up in Atsubetsu Ward and still live, to buy thank-you gifts for those who sent flowers. In the underground area of Sanpi (Sanpi Plaza), there are now Kinotoya, Rokkatei, Yanagi Tsuki, and Royce, so we bought sweets from each store separately. My wife planned to pack them together with a thank-you letter and give them as gifts. We planned to leave the house in the early afternoon, so we decided to have lunch at the Ark City restaurant area, which we had decided on the day before. My wife gave me a few options, and we settled on okonomiyaki, which she was most eager to eat. We visited "Okonomiyaki Yakisoba Kazuki Shin-Sapporo Duo Store" for the first time. Although I have used other Kazuki stores in the past, such as the Ootaniichi store (now closed), Esta store, Factory store, and the North Hill store where you could enjoy both bedrock bathing and okonomiyaki (now closed), this was my first visit to the Shin-Sapporo Duo store, so this review of Kazuki is also my first post. We arrived during the lunch rush, so we had to wait a little, but we were seated at a table facing the hotel Emisia visible through the window. I'm not sure if all stores are like this, but while there were laminated menus, orders were taken via tablets. I have experienced this system at places like Gusto and Shabu Leaf, and I think it is very important to minimize contact between customers and staff during this pandemic. We chose the "Kaze Set" for two people, which included the pre-selected okonomiyaki, a large portion of yakisoba, a teppanyaki dish, and two soft drinks. In the past, I remember there were various options like the Kaze Set, Tsuki Set (for monjayaki instead of okonomiyaki), and larger sets like the Kazuki Set and Danran Set for multiple people, but now it is set to only include mixed balls (pork and squid). It might be tough for people who can't eat pork or squid without at least one more choice. We upgraded the teppanyaki dish from the default A to the +110 yen option B to get beef cut steak, and my wife ordered ginger ale while I opted for Sapporo Premium Alcohol-Free (small bottle) for an additional fee. The chopstick bag we were given when we sat down had "Established 55 years" printed on it. According to someone I worked with who was from Osaka, the only Kazuki store in Daimaru in Sapporo (Tsukashibashi Kazuki) is said to be just as good as the original taste, but I thought that the Sapporo-born Kazuki, where you cook it yourself, had more of a home-cooked taste. The okonomiyaki I cooked myself after a long time, which was also due to my wife's mixing and cooking skills, was delicious with a fluffy texture. However, the okonomiyaki sauce was quite sweet, so it would be nice if it were a bit more refreshing. The beef cut steak, served on aluminum foil with the ingredients, was surprisingly bland. I would have liked some table condiments like salt, pepper, and ponzu. The yakisoba, which had pork, squid, and cabbage, was almost finished when it was placed on the teppan, so we mixed in a raw egg to finish it off. The flavor and chewy medium noodles were satisfying. Thank you for the meal.
