I went to Iwanai to eat seafood, but all the restaurants had long lines, so I gave up on seafood and happened to pass by "Hyakuseki" and decided to dine there. I ordered the Chapu set meal after seeing it on the menu. The seasoning was perfect for the rice, and the thick meat was very satisfying! It was a great choice! The pork cutlet set meal my friend was eating also looked delicious with its thick meat. It was a hot day, but I was pleased with the thoughtfulness of being offered a refill of barley tea. The next time I visit Iwanai, I want to visit "Hyakuseki" instead of seafood restaurants.

It was around 2:00 PM on a Saturday in February, and I was looking for a late lunch. I wanted to have sushi since I was in a port town, but it seemed like all the sushi restaurants were still preparing for lunch service. I noticed a tonkatsu restaurant with a vintage look, and decided to give it a try. The parking lot was empty, and when I entered, I realized they were conserving energy by dimming the lights. I sat at the counter and looked at the menu, which seemed a bit pricey to me. I ordered the "Rosu Katsu Teishoku" for 1680 yen. It took over 10 minutes for the food to arrive, and the tonkatsu looked quite firm. It was a normal size piece of 8x15 cm. It came with a special sauce that was more tangy than sweet, and I enjoyed it with some mustard as well. The cabbage was a bit thick for my liking. The tonkatsu was thick and juicy, but the breading tended to fall off. I ended up eating the tonkatsu and the rice separately. The portion size was generous, and I felt satisfied. Overall, it was a good meal, but I felt like it would be better enjoyed with a drink. Thank you for the meal.

My colleague and I visited this tonkatsu restaurant in Iwanai Town for the first time. It has a traditional and local feel, located in a dining district. The restaurant was quiet around 6 pm with only one other customer. We ordered the hirekatsu set for 1700 yen and the rosukatsu set for 1600 yen. The bread crumbs are freshly made in a mixer after we placed our order. The hirekatsu and rosukatsu were both generously portioned, with the hirekatsu being particularly impressive with its thick cut and tenderness. The flavor was a bit lacking, so we needed to add more sauce. The hirekatsu was the favorite between the two. I'm not sure when we'll visit again, but I'll probably order the hirekatsu next time. This shop seems to have been around for quite a long time. I remember coming here a few times with my parents when I was in elementary school. I wondered if the location had changed, but the name of the shop was the same, so I thought the taste might be the same as well. When I arrived, it was Sunday lunchtime and there were only two customers. I ordered the pork chop that I used to eat when I was a kid. The menu looked exactly the same as before. The pork chop I had here was shockingly delicious and it has remained my favorite meat dish. It was ready in about 15 minutes. It looked just like it used to (probably). It was quite a generous portion! When I tried it, it was delicious and nostalgic. This taste is the same as before! The ketchup flavor is strong compared to other places, and it has a lingering acidity, but I like it. It has a rustic feel to it. The meat was tender and the fatty parts were also delicious. The price is a bit on the higher side, but it's within a reasonable range. I went back two more times and still ended up ordering the pork chop each time. My local friends told me that the tonkatsu and other items are also delicious, so next time, I'll go with a few people and share different dishes. But for me, it's still going to be the pork chop.
