After work, the feeling of liberation on a Friday!... I tried a meal at Fujita! The underground cafeteria at the Central Bus Terminal is quite interesting. This was my first time here. I ordered the Pork Cutlet Curry (with extra rice for an additional 100 yen). I sat at the counter and could see the cutlets being fried twice. It arrived in about 7 minutes! It looked delicious. The cutlet was piping hot! The first one was super hot, almost too hot to eat. But from the second one onwards, they were delicious and piping hot. Freshly fried is the best! The curry wasn't too spicy but it was tasty. The portion of rice was quite generous too. I could see them scooping the rice, so I was really hungry and this made me very happy. And it was quite reasonably priced too. A great dinner. The owner was very nice. It was raining outside... and you have work tomorrow, right? Have a nice weekend!

Office workers have limited lunch options, but I found a great spot called "Ippin Teishoku Fuji" for a weekday lunch. I visited this place after having back-to-back meetings in the area for three days. I arrived at 12:20 pm and there were 3 groups of customers (4 people) already seated, with 3 more customers arriving later. The owner, a man, was running the place alone. The menu was displayed on the wall near the entrance, but it was easy to decide without looking at it. Today, I ordered the Pork Cutlet Curry for 700 yen. It arrived in just 5 minutes. The cutlet was warmed in a toaster, and the meat was thin and tender. The curry had a home-cooked flavor and was slightly sweet, providing a sense of comfort. In these times, a 700 yen cutlet curry is much appreciated. The other menu items are also reasonably priced. I enjoyed my meal and will definitely come back again. Thank you!

Sapporo is still 33 degrees today. It's not getting cooler even after the Bon Festival. I feel like eating cold udon, but I had zaru soba yesterday, and it's before payday so I don't feel like being too extravagant. Then I remembered this place in the underground of the central bus terminal in this scorching heat. The atmosphere with these shops lined up is always nice. It's past 2 PM and I have this place all to myself again today. Some menu items have gone up slightly since last time, but the cheapest double chicken cutlet curry is still 600 yen! And in the central area, I don't think there's another place where you can eat at this price. The curry is very rich (a bit like hayashi style?), not very spicy, but it's delicious with the chicken cutlet (and it's thigh meat!). The portion size is not huge, but it's enough to fill you up. I feel like trying the other set meals priced at 700-900 yen!

When I went to Shichifuku Shokudo and Shiontei, I was really intrigued and ended up back at the Central Bus Terminal. First off, the retro Showa-style menu display case really adds a nice touch. A Double Chicken Katsu Curry for 600 yen... Even a regular curry for 600 yen is hard to come by, so this is a great deal. It was just past 2 pm, so the place was completely empty until the end. Inside, it had a mix of a cafeteria and an izakaya vibe. The kind-looking elderly owner was running the place all by themselves. It was hot, so I decided to go for something other than fried food and chose the Oyakodon for 650 yen. The color of the egg was rich and delicious! Lately, Oyakodon everywhere has a light seasoning, so it was nice to have one with a slightly richer flavor. The portion of rice and toppings was a bit generous, but I finished it in no time. Looking at the menu on the wall, everything is so cheap. This is the kind of place I'd love for Goro-san from "The Lonely Gourmet" to visit. However, the underground cafeteria here is a hidden gem. I definitely want to complete the other three shops soon.

Near the bus center, I had a work lunch before noon at a decently busy food court underground. I decided to go to "Ippin Teishoku Fuji" where the owner was friendly and chatty. He moved us from the counter to a larger table without asking, saying it was more convenient for serving. I ordered the "Kaki and Aji Fry Teishoku" for 800 yen, which included 3 pieces of oyster fry and a piece of horse mackerel fry. The oyster fry was recommended with oyster sauce, while the horse mackerel fry came with Worcestershire sauce. Be careful, they give a lot of rice. I managed to finish everything, but I can't handle second helpings anymore. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. Next time, I might try their curry.

I had a Sapporo draft beer (480 yen) and grilled chicken with salt (550 yen). The chicken was cooked on a grill with a soy sauce can underneath for about 10 minutes, resulting in crispy skin and juicy meat. The beer was served in a frozen mug, making it very tasty. When I ordered another beer, the owner recommended the onion rings (400 yen), which were deliciously seasoned with curry powder and salt. I wanted to try the liver and leek dish (500 yen) as well, but I was too full to order more. Next time, I plan to try the set meal. Thank you for the meal.

In April 2023, I ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry (600 yen) and sat at the counter. The 75-year-old owner runs the place alone and the food was served in about 10 minutes. The curry had a mild spiciness and a rich, thick consistency with just the right amount of tangy tomato flavor. The Chicken Katsu, made with two bite-sized pieces of thigh meat, was crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside, pairing well with the curry. Unfortunately, two other restaurants in this old building (Jusan and Tokachi) have closed down, which is quite sad. Some dishes were no longer available and there was a slight price increase, but I am grateful to the owner for still providing affordable meals. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Sapporo has a great atmosphere in the underground shopping arcade of the buildings. Among them, the underground area across from the TV Tower and the bus terminal has a lot of character. It's literally full of famous shops. I heard this place has many great shops, so I decided to explore. I arrived around 1 pm on a weekday at a shop mainly focused on counter seating, with only one other customer. I had read about the liver and leek with beer set in advance, so I ordered that without hesitation. It came with rice and miso soup for only 950 yen. When I entered, I was a bit put off by the smoke from cigarettes at the counter, but they quickly put it out and served me a fresh beer. They even placed a cloth under the beer glass, showing attention to detail. The food itself had a relatively light flavor. The raw egg yolk dropped onto the hot iron plate in the center had a great visual impact and a satisfying volume. The elegant seasoning made me think that even if I have work later in the evening, I won't smell like leeks, right? No, you'll smell like alcohol. I would like to try this place for drinks in the evening as well.

Today, there was the Hokkaido Marathon, and as a result, the streets felt less crowded than usual. Many places were closed for lunch, almost causing me to become a lunch refugee. After a meeting at a home appliance manufacturer's showroom, I found myself free around 12:30. I headed to the central bus terminal, thinking there would be some open restaurants there. I had never walked to this bus terminal before, so it was a first for me. I went to the underground food court, where surprisingly, some restaurants that are usually closed on Sundays were open. I managed to find a place to eat lunch, thanks to a regular customer who asked the owner to open the restaurant for the day. I ordered the Stir-Fried Leek and Liver Set Meal without hesitation. It cost 700 yen including tax. The food was ready in less than 10 minutes. The liver was slightly burnt, but the taste was good. The portion of rice was decent, and the miso soup was average. Overall, the meal was satisfying, especially considering the price. As I ate, I felt like the rice portion was not enough, but I resisted getting a refill. I finished the meal and watched someone from the marathon event team drink beer, which made me crave a drink too. However, I had to drive later, so I resisted the temptation. I drank water and finished the liver stir-fry before heading towards Sapporo Station.

Today's lunch was at Ippei Teishoku Fujisan located on the basement floor of the bus center. I had been wanting to visit this restaurant for a while, so I arrived at the location at 11:30 with anticipation. When I looked at the storefront, I could see the lights on inside, indicating that they were preparing to open, but even after 11:30, there was no sign of them opening. They finally opened at 11:50. I couldn't tell if they were delayed in opening at 11:30 or if they usually open at 12 and opened a bit early. But it's all good. This laid-back attitude is also important. I took a seat and had to look closely at the menu, as it was only displayed on the wall. The prices were quite reasonable, mostly ranging from 600 to 750 yen. There were many menu items that I liked, so I had a hard time deciding, but today I ordered the Katsu-ni Teishoku (680 yen including tax). Since I had to imagine what the menu items were like based on their names, I felt a little anxious. But I really love the atmosphere of this restaurant. It's not fancy at all, just focused on serving good food, which is very calming. The meal was served about 10 minutes after ordering. The owner served each dish personally since he was running the place alone. I really like this atmosphere too. The presentation was beautiful. This is what Katsu-ni looks like. Unlike Katsudon, the sauce doesn't soak into the rice, so you can enjoy the juicy cutlet soaked in sauce with each bite. The sauce is not very sweet, but the umami from the cutlet, onions, and egg make up for it. The rice was a bit firm, making it easy to eat with chopsticks. Finally, I placed the cutlet and onions on top of the rice and enjoyed a delicious Tsuyudaku Katsudon to finish the meal! Thank you for the meal.

The atmosphere is nice, with a perfect Showa era vibe. The owner is friendly and a cute older gentleman. I had high expectations and ordered the pork cutlet curry. Only forks were provided. I didn't see anyone else using a spoon, so I guess that's the rule here. As expected, the homemade pork cutlet curry had a great taste. The cutlet was even more delicious than I imagined. I was very satisfied with the meal. Thank you for the delicious food!

"Sapporo Central Bus Sapporo Terminal Underground Food Court 'Teishoku Fuji' Stamina Yakiniku Teishoku. I remembered there was a food court underground here to have an early dinner. I came across 'Teishoku Fuji' and locked onto their 'Stamina Yakiniku Teishoku ¥650'. The appearance somehow reminded me of a teishoku restaurant in Okinawa. This is the 'Stamina Yakiniku Teishoku' with sweet and savory pork belly and onions topped with raw egg. It goes great with rice. (The rice was not very tasty, maybe because it was late?) But considering the price, it's really cost-effective. After the meal, the smoking area here is for 'food court users only'."

It's almost the season when you can hear the hustle and bustle of December. It's lunchtime, and about a third of the counter seats are filled. Today, I didn't hesitate to order the Chicken Katsu Curry for 500 yen. I was surprised by how quickly it was served. Even though there was only one owner, as soon as he took my order, he started frying the katsu, scooping the rice, placing the freshly fried katsu on top of the rice, and pouring curry from the rice cooker. All of this was done in under 2 minutes. It truly showcases his craftsmanship. The curry sauce had a mild spiciness and a strong, rich thickness. The chicken katsu, cut into bite-sized pieces for easy eating, had a crispy and crunchy outer layer, while the meat inside was juicy like zangi, which paired perfectly with the curry sauce. I am grateful for the owner's efforts in providing this taste at this price in Chuo Ward. Thank you for the meal♪♪

At 11:50 on October 2021, in a retro dining area on the B1F of the Central Bus Terminal with a nostalgic Showa era atmosphere, there is a retro restaurant where you can enjoy both set meals and drinks. The place is full of Showa era vibes, with many regular customers, and the owner manages to serve multiple customers all by themselves. Today, I ordered the "Pork Cutlet Curry" for 600 yen (usually 680 yen). The sound of the frying oil being prepared by the owner in front of the counter is quite comforting. In less than 3 minutes, the dish was served. The curry has a mild spiciness and a rich, creamy texture with a nice depth of flavor. The color of the curry is lovely! The cutlet has a crispy outer layer and juicy, tender meat of just the right thickness. When the cutlet is combined with the curry sauce, it delivers an outstanding performance. The portion size was just right for me, but it might be a bit small for younger customers. In addition to this Pork Cutlet Curry, they also offer a great deal on Chicken Cutlet Curry for only 500 yen. Although it is listed as a discounted "daily service menu," it is always priced at a mere 500 yen when I visit. This restaurant has a well-deserved reputation for being loved by many for a long time. It truly is a place that brings happiness. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Chicken cutlet curry for 500 yen during weekday lunch. No parking available. Arrived in 30 seconds. The curry is rich and flavorful with strong spices, very delicious. The rice is also well-cooked, no issues there. Most importantly, the chicken cutlet is delicious. It's not like tonkatsu, but rather four separate juicy pieces. It's not pre-made, so when you bite into it, the oil comes out. That's why you can scoop up the thick curry with a fork and eat the chicken cutlet by stabbing it. Even though the portion is a bit small for 500 yen, it's totally worth it.

This is one of the shops located in the underground food court of the Hokkaido Central Bus Terminal. I entered at 3:35 pm on a weekday. There were no other customers. I ordered a parent and child bowl (580 yen). The dish arrived in about 5 minutes. I paid in cash. It was delicious. Thank you for the meal.

I arrived at the area near Bus Center Mae Station. I came to the Showa era dining zone, wondering what to eat. But several shops are closed. I decided to go to "Ippin Teishoku Fuji" as usual. I ordered the Katsudon for 680 yen, but what came out was Katsu-ni set meal?! Well, it's the same thing, so no big deal! The old man is working hard alone in the kitchen. It's reassuring to see everything in the open kitchen. I waited for about 10 minutes. It's done! The combination for 680 yen is fantastic! The soft and fluffy egg stimulates my appetite. The meat is also tender! The seasoning is slightly sweet. Let's dig in! Mixing it with the rice is great. Being able to adjust the amount on my own plate is nice. I tried eating just the fluffy egg part or just the katsu. It's irresistible. The miso soup with seaweed is also delicious and homey. There are many good restaurants in this zone, making it enjoyable. Thank you for the meal!

Around the bus center at 11:30 on June 9th, there was a top-class salaryman's hangout spot, "Fuji," where a customer named "Fujii" was seen. It seems like being able to drink in the morning on weekdays is a plus point depending on how you use it? When I entered, one group of two customers was leaving. They seemed to know what they were doing. They exchanged words with the owner before leaving, showing a sense of decisiveness. The words I heard were "See you tomorrow." I took a seat at the counter in the back left corner. I ordered a set of liver and leek stir-fry with beer! And also reserved chicken cutlet curry for later! Given my current desire for rich and hearty food, this menu choice seemed to be the best for me! I'm drinking in the morning, so it's turbo time. I'll compress my food and drink intake with a boost. The beer arrived in 3 minutes! I thought it would be incredibly delicious, but it was disappointing with a strange aftertaste. The freshness was also not up to par, making it a day of disappointments. Next came the liver and leek stir-fry! The raw egg on top added a touch of elegance. However, to be honest, I won't say much about the lack of care in cooking, as I've been sent to the draft repeatedly for speaking out. But the chef's skill in cooking and seasoning is outstanding! After finishing the mediocre beer, I ordered a reliable Tris highball. Me: "Chicken cutlet curry, please." Chef: "It's ready." Even before I called out, the chef had timed it perfectly for me. The curry that came out was a perfect combination of the freshly fried cutlet's boldness and the richness of the sauce, which has captivated fans for decades. The strong smell of the curry. The presence of the chicken cutlet. The aroma of the white rice on the plate. The small serving of fukujin pickles. All of it, including its ugliness, guarantees fullness and satisfaction to anyone who sees it. Is ugliness sometimes a weapon in a diner? I respect the fact that they don't prioritize visuals. Overall, it was a very satisfying meal!... But maybe I overdid it at that time.

During the Sapporo Snow Festival in February 2020, at noon on the second day, two customers entered the restaurant just before 12 o'clock. The owner seemed surprised when they took off their masks, saying, "Don't scare me like that!" It seemed like they thought a foreigner had entered with a mask on. This place is mostly frequented by regular customers. They sat at the end of the counter and ordered "Chicken Katsu". The freshly fried Chicken Katsu was cut into crispy pieces and placed on top of the rice with curry poured over it. "Here you go, it's ready!" They received it over the counter and immediately took a hot bite. The juicy chicken was delicious, and even though they had eaten it many times before, they never got tired of the taste. Later, a group of three customers sat at two tables, and everyone ordered Chicken Katsu. The customers at the counter followed with Stamina Set meals. "Thank you for the meal!" In the evening, they were turned away from having a casual drink. They were told, "Sorry, we have a private party reservation for tonight and tomorrow." It seems like they were rejected for their evening drink.

Dashi-maki tamago (Japanese rolled omelette) for 250 yen and draft beer for 450 yen. We went to a nostalgic cafeteria in the basement of the central bus terminal for our first round of drinks. The outside of the restaurant had a display case with old-fashioned food samples, and inside had a retro Showa era atmosphere. The owner, an older man, was running the place by himself. The menu was displayed on the wall with set options available, but we didn't have much time so we ordered a single item. The beer was cold and refreshing at 450 yen per glass. The restaurant provided no appetizers, but the snacks were cheap, starting from a few hundred yen, attracting budget-conscious salarymen. We ordered the dashi-maki tamago for 250 yen, which was served quickly and had a good balance of dashi flavor and sweetness. The cozy atmosphere made us want to stay longer, but we had to leave due to time constraints. The total bill came to 700 yen. The restaurant had irregular business hours, and when we asked the owner, he said he closed on days when he was hungover or didn't feel like working. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.
