I visit Obihiro a few times a year for work. There is a pop-up at the Toyota Rent-A-Car store in Obihiro that showcases recommended ramen in Obihiro, including Tanagaki with photos, which has caught my attention for a while now. Every time I return the car, I always think, "Ah! I should have gone there!" Finally, on my way back to Ikeda-cho, I visited the restaurant! It is tucked away in a corner of the parking lot of Sasai Hotel, hidden by Kodachi. It was around 5 p.m. on a weekday, and there were still seats available, so I was able to enter smoothly. I ordered the "hot noodles" with spicy miso flavor, and you can choose from thin, thick, or flat noodles. This time, I chose thin noodles. I was curious about the recommended zosui set, but personally, I love adding white rice to the soup of spicy tsukemen or tantanmen, so I ordered a small rice. Now, the hot noodles have arrived! The soup is boiling like a hot pot with solid fuel, creating a hot and bubbling atmosphere...! I'm not sure what the correct way to eat it is, but I submerged the noodles in the pot and then transferred them to a small plate. I also transferred the simmered ingredients and soup to a small plate, creating a small ramen experience. The spicy miso has a rich flavor and is very delicious! What's interesting is that it is simmered for quite a long time, so not only does it maintain its heat, but the soup gradually becomes more intense! Towards the end, the umami flavor increased significantly! Although it is spicy miso, it has a slight sweetness to the miso, and the spiciness is moderate. Also, due to that sweetness, I think zosui might be a better match than white rice. I should have followed the recommendation...! The tsukemen and ramen both looked delicious. This time I tried the hot noodles, but since I have a sensitive tongue, I would like to try the tsukemen next time!
