At "Hong Kong Dim Sum Kitchen" in Ookayama, you can enjoy authentic dim sum. The handmade dim sum, including shrimp dumplings and rice noodles, is exquisite, and the baked sesame char siu pastry is especially amazing. The bright and clean interior allows you to enjoy a taste of Hong Kong at reasonable prices.

I ordered à la carte this time, but it seems like ordering a set course for a group would be more cost-effective. They charged for tea, which felt like an additional table fee.

I noticed a spicy orange sauce on the table and wondered what it was, and the staff kindly explained it was Hong Kong sweet chili sauce, showing their love for Hong Kong. I made a reservation through Tabelog and went there. I was able to enjoy dim sum that was very close to authentic local flavors. The restaurant was spacious and open, which was nice. Above all, the unlimited supply of authentic tea was great (they put a pot filled with tea right on the table for us).

A restaurant where you can enjoy Hong Kong dim sum has opened just a five-minute walk south of Ookayama Station. The walls are adorned with large pictures of Victoria Harbour in Hong Kong, creating a great atmosphere. It’s casual and easy to enter. There is a wide variety of dim sum, and it was delicious.

We visited with my wife before the evening, and while there were a few tables filled, we were seated near the entrance. Most of the menu items were just under 1,000 yen each, and overall, the taste was quite standard. Since there aren't many dim sum restaurants in Ookayama, it might be a good option when you're really craving it.

Just by looking at the menu outside, my instincts told me to go in. It was around 4 PM, so it felt more like a snack than dinner. There was a hint of artificial flavor, but that made it oddly nostalgic, reminiscent of Hong Kong. Everything I ordered was delicious. I went for lunch with my senior colleague to a newly opened restaurant near Oooka Station. There weren’t any lunch set meals, which might have been due to it being the weekend. The menu featured a variety of dim sum dishes, which made for a fun dining experience. There were many types of shumai to choose from, so it was enjoyable deciding which ones to try. The noodle portions were slightly smaller than expected. The cold draft beer was also delicious in the afternoon. The restaurant is non-smoking, but there is a designated smoking area with an ashtray outside on the premises.

I ordered congee and wasn't familiar with fried breadsticks, so I asked the staff how to eat them. They suggested dipping or soaking them in the congee, or adding chili oil. Everything was delicious, and in the end, I mixed chili oil into the congee and dipped the fried breadsticks in it. There were also crunchy toppings like peanuts and fried spring roll wrappers that added enjoyable texture. It was a light meal, but I still felt satisfied. I hope to try dim sum someday as well. The taste was fairly good. I think it was around 1200 yen. However, it felt a bit pricey for what it was. If the price had been a little lower, I would have rated it much higher. I also got the impression that they used good quality tea.

Today for lunch, I went to Dim Sum Kitchen Ookayama near Ookayama Station. It used to be a Chinese restaurant called Arian. Overall, the prices here are higher compared to Arian. I had the fried rice and shrimp dumplings. The fried rice was unexpectedly large in portion, and I was satisfied. An additional 10% is added for tea and condiments. It might be unconventional, but I would have liked some mustard and vinegar. Next time, I want to come in the evening and enjoy a Qingdao beer.

For just two women, the amount of food was almost too much. The congee and fried rice were truly delicious. The eggplant and pumpkin were also hot and flavorful. Since it's in a student-friendly area, the hearty portions will surely be appreciated! The menu was diverse, and I definitely want to visit again!

However, while they were tasty, I often felt a sense of disappointment as they didn't quite meet my expectations. I decided to try the restaurant "Dimen Chuk" without much hope, even though the menu looked quite authentic. To my delight, it had the flavors I had been longing for all these years. During lunch, I had Qingdao beer, a two-piece platter of char siu, cheung fun, fried noodles, and fried rice, which totaled over 4,000 yen for one person, exceeding my budget. This sometimes makes it difficult to invite friends. However, I really wanted to order the char siu, so I wished they offered a half-portion of the crispy char siu at half the price. A full plate of char siu was too much for two women. I wanted to try other dishes as well.
