Located near the Michi-no-Eki in Rankoshi-cho, right off Route 5. During a weekday lunchtime, there were no customers when I arrived, but two customers came in after me. They offer set meals, rice bowls, curry rice, ramen, and soba. I ordered the Ham Ramen (1150 yen) which was decent in taste. It's nice to have a dining option in this area. The Ham Ramen had small scallops, shrimp, and seaweed in it. Thank you for the meal.

I stopped by during a drive. It's located near a roadside station, next to a shellfish museum. The parking lot is spacious. I had a pork cutlet bowl (without onions) and a ginger pork set meal. Both were simply delicious. It felt like they were made with care.

I visited for lunch. There was a wide variety of menu items such as noodles, rice bowls, and set meals. The ginger pork set meal seemed to have a hint of Pokka Lemon flavor. The miso soup with fried tofu and tofu was delicious. I was happy to see plenty of spinach with sesame dressing in the side dish. Initially, there were only 2-3 groups of customers, but more and more people started coming in. The turnover was good, and the dishes were served quickly. Thank you for the meal.

On the way to my relative's house on a holiday, I stopped by here. This is Rannkai Town, known for its delicious rice grown inland. The richness of the water and soil of the Shibetsu River, which can be said to be the lifeline of rice cultivation, is also noteworthy. The place name of the port at the mouth of the Shibetsu River is also part of Rannkai Town. It is located about halfway between Iwanai and Toshito on National Route 229. There is the only drive-in where you can eat here. Next to it is the Michi-no-Eki Shell Plaza, Kai no Yakata. Although it is a drive-in, you can eat delicious local fish such as grilled hokke and Suhachi flounder caught at the nearby beach, salt-flavored seafood ramen, etc. I usually eat grilled fish set meals or beach ramen, but this time I ended up ordering a Chinese bowl for some reason. I've been eating ankake a lot lately. I didn't have any expectations this time, but it was ready in about 10 minutes. The ingredients were green beans, onions, Chinese cabbage, carrots, bell peppers, red bell peppers, pork, which was good, but oysters, large tsubu, and shrimp with shells on their heads were included. It looks quite luxurious. The taste was quite sweet sauce, which was different from my preference, but the oysters and tsubu were delicious because they used freshly caught local ones. The rice was of course Rannkai rice, so I was quite satisfied. Thank you for the meal.

Traveling all the way from Osaka to Hokkaido, we took a drive from Hakodate to Sapporo and stopped for lunch along the way. In this area, there was surprisingly nothing around, and it seemed deserted. Just when we thought there was no one around, we spotted this restaurant. Even though the building looked run-down and abandoned, the lights were flickering, indicating that it was open for business. We saw fish hanging to dry outside, so we assumed there were people inside and decided to give it a try. Despite feeling nervous, once we went inside, we saw that the TV was on and a couple was running the place, which put us at ease. The menu consisted of regular set meals and a few types of ramen. The Ham Ramen (1000 yen) caught our attention, so we ordered it. The ramen was a salt-based broth topped with mussels, sea urchin, clams, shrimp, squid, scallops, a large amount of seaweed, and white leeks. The broth was incredibly delicious, with the rich umami flavor of the shellfish combined with the seaweed's oceanic taste creating a luxurious broth that was hard to describe. The noodles were standard curly noodles, but the overall combination of the flavorful broth and fresh seafood toppings made this ramen truly exceptional. Although I initially thought 1000 yen for a bowl of ramen was expensive, after tasting it, I felt that it was worth every penny. I'm not sure if I'll have the chance to visit again, but this ramen experience may become a fond memory of a hidden gem.

I stopped by here on my way back to Hakodate from Sapporo because the road conditions at Nakayama Pass were snowy and I was nervous with my summer tires. The atmosphere was like a typical countryside drive-in. The clam ramen was recommended, so I ordered it. I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived, as it was packed with plenty of ingredients. Uni, scallops, squid, clams, shrimp, and seaweed were all crammed in. The soup was light and salty, enhancing the flavors of the seafood. The noodles were average. The taste and portion exceeded my expectations, giving me energy for the journey back to Hakodate. Thank you for the meal.

Now, since I came all the way from Rankoshi to the port, I wanted to have lunch by the sea. However, there are hardly any restaurants in this village. There are two shops selling dried fish, which had delicious hokke dried fish, but I couldn't exactly cook it there. The only other options are a light meal at the roadside station or this drive-in. Let's go in, even though there is very little information. It seems to be connected to a roadside station, which also operates as a guesthouse. The information said it opens at 10:30, but the curtain was up at 11:00. Inside, there were only about 8 table seats. It had a typical drive-in feel along the national highway. The menu includes ramen, set meals, and rice bowls, with the sea-themed sea urchin bowl being the standout. It was listed as market price, but there was a sign saying 2500 yen. Judging by the price, it is most likely murasaki uni. The "beach ramen" with seafood for around 1000 yen seemed like a reasonable and sea-like option, but I wanted to eat white rice, so I opted for the sashimi set. Sweet shrimp, salmon, octopus, and mackerel. They seemed to be mostly thawed. The one thing that stood out was the fresh sea urchin. A proper murasaki uni without using alum. Ah, I see. Having this adds a touch of luxury. The rice was quite delicious. It cost 1400 yen, so I expected a bit more flair, but I'll give it a pass because of the fresh sea urchin. Honestly, I didn't expect a place like this to serve decent fresh sea urchin. Maybe I should have tried the sea urchin bowl.
