The daily specials include three different genres: meat, fish, and others, so there's bound to be a menu that suits your mood for the day. The Beef Belly Stew Udon (800 yen) has a slightly sweet flavor from the beef belly, while the broth itself is not sweet. When the beef belly melts into the broth, the dashi and sweetness mix together perfectly. The ingredients include beef, leeks, onions, burdock, and shredded konjac in small amounts. I was happy with the generous amount of meat, but I wish there were more ingredients. I would love to have an egg with it. The handmade rice ball had a nice balance of saltiness, with a topping of bonito flakes. It was delicious when eaten with the udon broth.

On August 27, 2021, what I can do now is to support at least the food and beverage industry while being careful enough. Let's all work together and give it our all ✨ Today, I had planned to go to a French restaurant in the city, but they were only accepting reservations today. So, I went to a nearby izakaya for lunch for the first time at "Hokkai Ippin Masajiro." It is located along Ginza Street in the heart of Obihiro, on the first floor of the Ishikawa-ya Building. The exterior is the Ishikawa-ya Building, and the interior is spacious with a counter seating for 7 and several table seats. I arrived at 11:35. I asked about today's daily special and ordered the sashimi set for 800 yen (tax included). It arrived in about 4 minutes. The daily special included sashimi (octopus, sea bream, salmon, scallop, tuna), shumai, oden, salad, rice, and miso soup. The sashimi was small but there were many varieties, and the scallop was sweet and delicious. The miso soup had a rich flavor. The shumai was served hot in a small dish. I will definitely come back for dinner next time. Thank you for the meal. Hokkai Ippin Masajiro's business hours are 11:30-14:00 and 17:00-1:00 (regular hours), with irregular holidays.

I went to Masajiro! For the second place today in the city center, since I didn't make a reservation, many places turned us down. However, Masajiro welcomed us easily. I have been here once before for a company's second party and just had beer. This is my first time trying their food. First, we ordered beer. It's a classic one, but maybe a bit too much foam. For the food, we had a sashimi platter for 2,000 yen, crispy meat miso pizza for 600 yen, skin-on potato fries for 560 yen, chorizo wiener for 660 yen, and a whole cucumber pickled for 400 yen. They also served cabbage as a complimentary dish. The food was served quickly. The sashimi platter was quite generous and fresh. The pizza didn't have much miso flavor. The chorizo wiener was quite spicy. Visually, the skin-on potato fries were a bit... but they tasted good. Overall, the prices were reasonable and the food was above average. It's a casual and good izakaya to go to. Thank you for the meal.

Traveling in Hokkaido. Having a drink in Obihiro at night feels great. Since I'm here, let's go to a second place. The bustling area north of Obihiro Station is filled with restaurants. It's past 9 pm but there are still a lot of people around. As I was wandering, I happened to pass by this particular restaurant. I felt curious and decided to go in. The restaurant is quite spacious with counter seats, table seats, and tatami seats. I was seated at the counter as a solo diner. I started with a draft beer and ordered the recommended Masajiro miso dumplings. Along with the beer, some appetizers were served - simmered dish and raw cabbage with miso. The miso had a strong flavor, enough to make you want to drink alcohol. Then the Masajiro miso dumplings arrived. The thin skin was crispy, and the filling had a good amount of meat. The miso flavor wasn't too overpowering, and it paired well with the beer. Looking at the menu, it seems like they specialize in dishes using miso. With a wide variety of dishes to choose from, it's a place where you can enjoy different flavors. It feels like a local gathering spot.

I saw an announcement in a local newspaper ad and decided to visit Masajiro. There were customers before and after me. I was guided to a counter seat, leaving space between me and the other customers. I ordered the Masajiro Gyoza set meal, which includes the original miso that used to be their specialty. The meal arrived in about 9 minutes, but my first impression was, where did this lunch plate come from? The gyoza had a good flavor with a hint of garlic and meat juice. The meal also included simmered vegetables, well-shaped shumai, tamagoyaki, pickled daikon, cabbage & tomato, and miso soup. The rice was decent. From a female perspective, I think it would be better to use the same plates as the evening menu and arrange the vegetables and gyoza in a more appealing way. I understand that running a restaurant is tough, but I wanted to share my thoughts on the newly introduced lunch menu. Thank you for the meal. *The lunch menu is available for a limited time and on weekdays from 11:30 to 14:00.

Located within a five-minute walk from Obihiro Station, this typical izakaya offers hearty Hokkaido and Tokachi ingredients at affordable prices. It's the perfect place to enjoy a lively atmosphere with friends. We started with a toast of draft beer and then ordered a variety of dishes such as zangi, tubodai, and extra-large shima hokke. We had a great time eating and drinking a lot! This was my third visit in a few years, and the izakaya was as cheap and delicious as ever. I will definitely visit again!

In the bustling downtown area of Obihiro City, there are many izakayas with a variety of menu options displayed outside. However, I was determined to find a restaurant that served the local specialty, pork bowl. I ended up choosing a quiet restaurant with my friend's name, where they had a simple menu that included the pork bowl I was looking for. The food, made with Hokkaido ingredients, was delicious, especially the vegetables. The seasoning may vary, but overall it was enjoyable.

Dad visited this shop while on a business trip, as he had no knowledge of the local area. According to Dad's report... There was a large tatami room, but no customers yet as it was still early. Dad thought, "Is everything okay?" but then some customers started to come in. The atmosphere was like that of an izakaya, so the menu was also typical izakaya fare. What did Dad order? "It depended on my mood, but I got a pickled cucumber, stir-fried hormone, miso cabbage, and vegetable jeon." "When on a business trip, I tend to lack vegetables." And how did it taste? "All of them had a perfect balance of salt. The pickled cucumber was so crunchy, you didn't even need to cut it. The best was the miso in the miso cabbage. It's delicious and goes well with anything!" "And what's this... Dad?" "This is the best izakaya menu I found in Hokkaido, 'Jagabata Shio-koji'! It looks strange at first, but it's delicious!" Give it a try... Dad says.

I visited this place after having a drink at the food stalls village and then going on a bar crawl until 1 am. They had an interesting menu item where you could order just the meat for the pork bowl, which tasted like a bland ginger pork. It was decently tasty, but nothing special. The restaurant had its own original miso sauce that was strong in garlic flavor, which tasted really good when dipped with cabbage. They also had yakitori using the same miso sauce, but it wasn't to my liking. The other yakitori dishes were quite delicious and had good value for money. We had one drink, four yakitori skewers, just the meat for the pork bowl, motsu stew, and a couple more dishes for about 5000 yen in total. Overall, it was a decent izakaya with a cozy atmosphere thanks to the privacy screens between tables.

In the center of Obihiro City in Hokkaido, there is a restaurant called "Hokkaido Ippin Masajiro". I went there with my colleagues on a business trip. We had beer and some appetizers, and then we tried the famous pork bowl, which is said to have originated in Obihiro, for 880 yen. The pork was thick and covered in a rich sauce. I'm not sure if it was pork loin or pork belly, but it was tender and there were 4-5 slices on top of the rice. It was a unique dish that we don't often find in the Kansai region, so we enjoyed it. The pork bowl also came with pickles and miso soup.
