Finally, I was able to visit Donburi Kitchen Akazukin, a cozy Western-style restaurant loved by locals. I arrived right at 5pm when the evening session started, so the parking lot was empty and I could choose my seat. I imagine it must get crowded during lunchtime and dinner hours. The Hire Katsu set meal for 1350 yen was delicious, especially the rice! I also ordered Matilda's potato fries for 450 yen with the intention of eating them in the car on the way home, but I was too full. So, I ended up reheating them in a pan at home later that night and they were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, very tasty. The salt was mild, so it felt healthy. They go well with ketchup! I'm interested in trying other menu items, so I definitely want to go back. Thank you for the meal.

I am Akazukin. The owner has retired. His wife still helps out as usual. Last time, I had the thick pork cutlet and confirmed that the taste hasn't changed! This time, I ordered the "Katsudon with extra sauce for 990 yen." The pork cutlet is still tender and delicious, and the amount of sauce is just right. I enjoy the meat while mixing it with the rice. Ah, so satisfying! It was delicious. Thank you!

Local newspaper featured a restaurant called Donburi Kitchen Akazukin. When I visited, the place was crowded with locals. I thought they only served rice bowls, but they also have set meals! They even offer a half-size option based on the average age of their customers. The Negikatsu Donburi for 990 yen was served promptly, despite the almost full house. The dish consisted of thinly sliced pork cutlet topped with lots of green onions and seaweed, accompanied by a soy-based sauce and wasabi. The combination was surprisingly good! The salad with edamame and sesame dressing, delicious miso soup, and pickles complemented the meal well. Overall, the experience was satisfying, although I wonder if dishes like the Gyudon or Ebito Jidon would have been even better. The restaurant transitioned from a family-owned tonkatsu place to Donburi Kitchen, with two long-time employees taking over the kitchen. It's nice to see the tradition of local dining establishments being passed down.

When I visited this restaurant recommended by a friend, I finally understood why they suggested it. The menu was extensive, so I asked the staff for a recommendation. They suggested the negi-katsu don, and it was delicious! The generous amount of green onions paired perfectly with the crispy cutlet and refreshing sauce. The salad and miso soup were also very tasty. The restaurant was quite crowded with locals, despite being far from Obihiro Station. It's a popular place loved by the community!

This is Akazukin in Memuro Town. It is a well-known tonkatsu restaurant. It is said that the owner will retire once a successor is found due to age... It's sad. I ordered the "Thick Cut Tonkatsu Set Meal for 2,200 yen". How can they fry such a thick piece of pork so crispy and juicy? The owner is truly skilled! The satisfaction of eating this thick tonkatsu is probably one of the best in Hokkaido! Keep up the good work until a good successor is found! Thank you for the meal!

Akazukin 2023.03.29 Today, I went to a traditional tonkatsu restaurant called "Akazukin" in Meimuro Town. The place is located next to the Tenrikyo Meimuro Bunkyo Church. The exterior of the restaurant is simple, while the interior is clean and spacious with various seating options. I ordered the tonkatsu and Napolitan dish, which cost 1,100 yen with an extra 110 yen for a large portion. The tonkatsu was thinly sliced with just the right amount of fat, topped with a generous serving of homemade meat sauce. The meat was tender and delicious, and I could taste the freshness of the tomatoes in the sauce. Next time, I want to try their katsudon. Overall, it was a satisfying meal. Akazukin is open from 11:00 to 15:00 and 17:00 to 20:00, closed on the third Sunday of the month in the evening.

This is a tonkatsu restaurant that emphasizes on Tokachi-produced SPF pork (pork raised in a sterile environment). The influence of its past as a family restaurant can be seen in the menu items like pizza and pasta. However, the pizza dough is made with Meimuro-produced wheat, which adds a unique flavor. The pasta is well-seasoned and easy to eat, always served freshly boiled with a smooth texture. But when you come here, the highlight is definitely the tonkatsu. They offer a variety of tonkatsu dishes like pizza-style tonkatsu and negi-katsu donburi, perfect for pork lovers. I'm not a fan of fatty meat, so I always go for the pork tenderloin cutlet for 1300 yen. The SPF pork has no unpleasant smell, so even friends who are not fond of pork enjoy it. The crispy fried pork tenderloin cutlet is always perfectly cooked here, with good oil drainage and a satisfying crunch. They bring the sauce and dressing to your table when serving the food, which is reassuring in these times. The cold sauce and dressing are likely stored in the refrigerator. While there are no standout characteristics, the mild flavor makes it easy to eat. The highlight this time was the freshly cooked rice!! Each grain of rice was shining and standing up. It was slightly firm, which paired perfectly with the cutlet! I regretted ordering less rice because it was so good (^◇^;) The miso soup was piping hot and satisfying. The cabbage is also very fresh, sweet, and delicious. With consistent quality and all-day service, this place is convenient to visit.

22nd Pork Bowl: Long time no see pork bowl. Today, I came to Memuro where I visited over 40 years ago. There are many tonkatsu options on the menu, but I stayed true to my choice and ordered the pork bowl. It arrived in just 5 minutes, accompanied by miso soup and salad. The pork bowl came with beans on top, not green peas. The meat, I believe, was pork shoulder, tender and without any unpleasant smell. The fat was also delicious. The seasoning was just right, not too strong or too weak, and the meat was cut into easy-to-eat pieces. I enjoyed it very much.

It's been a while since I visited Meimuro in August 2022. My parents treated me to lunch, so I came to Akazukin. I had the pork cutlet set meal, while my companion had the corn fried rice with cutlet on top. It was quite crowded, with everyone eating different things. The pork cutlet was a classic and comforting taste, delicious and satisfying. As for the corn fried rice with cutlet, I thought it was topped with demi-glace sauce, but it turned out to be miso sauce, which didn't quite match the corn fried rice. My companion couldn't quite appreciate it. Thank you for the meal.

In Hokkaido's Memuro Town, known for having the highest corn production in Japan, I tried a local specialty dish. The restaurant had a casual family-friendly atmosphere with mainly table seating and a few raised tatami seating areas. The menu featured dishes centered around tonkatsu made with local SPF pork, as well as pizzas made with Memuro wheat. I decided to go with the "Corn Fried Rice Set (980 yen)" which came with salad, soup, and yogurt. The menu was only written in English for some reason, and the dish arrived in about 5 minutes. It was a generous portion of corn fried rice with a strong buttery aroma. The flavor was definitely corn and butter fried rice. The service was friendly and warm, provided by the kind older ladies working there. The value for money was a bit questionable, but overall, it was worth trying this local specialty dish made with frozen corn. During lunchtime, the restaurant was filled with locals, and I seemed to be the only one ordering the corn fried rice.

I visited the restaurant in the mood for Katsudon ramen, but the name "Katsukare" caught my attention. Even though I was initially thinking of ordering the large pork cutlet, I ended up choosing the Thick Cut Tonkatsu Set (2200 yen) - it was huge, and indeed very thick! I was surprised by its appearance, but even more surprised when I tasted it! The tenderness of the meat was truly impressive, almost like braised pork! Despite being fried, it felt like I was eating the meat without the batter! It's amazing how they could fry a 250g piece of meat so perfectly (*ฅ́˘ฅ̀*) I was so amazed by the thickness of the meat that I couldn't help but take a picture with the cross-section facing up. With its thickness, it almost looked like a steak. The sight of the tonkatsu lined up as if taking a nap was something I could have stared at forever haha At first, I hesitated due to the price, but this was definitely a tonkatsu worth the price - in terms of volume and quality!

I am Akazukin. I love the tonkatsu here (*≧∀≦*) I usually get takeout, but this tonkatsu is delicious even when it's cold. However, this time I decided to dine in after a long time. I was in the mood for both tonkatsu and ramen, so I ordered the "Katsu Toji Ramen for 989 yen"! And here it is! Long time no see, Katsu Toji Ramen! First, the soup... simple and easy to drink soy sauce flavor. The noodles are chewy, and the star of the dish, the tonkatsu... freshly fried and piping hot, soaking up the hot soup, it's delicious! I finished it all in one go! It was delicious today too! Thank you for the meal!

★KG★ [Traveling around cities and towns in Hokkaido, visiting Memuro Town] I visited around 11:15 on a Sunday. As part of my tour of cities and towns in Hokkaido, I visited Memuro Town specifically to try the corn fried rice topped with plenty of local sweet corn. However, I was curious about what exactly corn fried rice would taste like. From the photos, it appears to be fried rice with plenty of stir-fried sweet corn on top. The restaurant seemed to mainly offer tonkatsu dishes, but we were focused on trying the corn fried rice and the gobo (burdock root) pizza made with local Memuro wheat. The corn fried rice arrived looking divine (laughs). The rice was completely covered with corn! The corn was crunchy and delicious. Essentially, it's like buttered corn on top of fried rice, which is not necessarily a bad thing (laughs). Honestly, I think I would prefer to eat them separately!! (laughs) The gobo pizza was in a wrap style. The crust was more like bread in texture, but it had a good aroma and tasted delicious. Although we didn't try it this time, ordering tonkatsu as the main dish would probably increase overall satisfaction at this restaurant!

I was caught off guard. I never expected this level of quality. I didn't even plan on posting, but this is a must-visit restaurant in Obihiro. I had the tonkatsu set meal, corn fried rice, and peanut pizza. The peanut pizza was so-so, but I appreciate the attempt. Anyway, the tonkatsu is top-notch.

After playing at the new Arashiyama Sky Park, I visited this place✨ It's still crowded as usual, and the menu is so extensive that I always have trouble deciding, haha. Today, I wasn't in the mood for tonkatsu, so I went for the "Tonton Don" (with extra meat)✨ It's a menu item that has been around since 1983. It consists of sliced pork, onions, and shimeji mushrooms cooked in a sweet Japanese sauce, served on a bed of rice sprinkled with katsuobushi flakes in Noriben style. It was incredibly delicious!! They also have options for children, so feel free to order for them too! The standout menu item, as always, is the one made with pork from Memuro.

On a sunny day in Tokachi, I happened to pass by Akazukin in Memuro Town. It was quite crowded at lunchtime. It's a popular place! I ordered the curry doria. The curry was delicious and topped with plenty of cheese, it was amazing. It was a popular restaurant. Next time, I want to try the corn fried rice and tonkatsu too!

It's been a few years since my last visit. The restaurant is located facing the street in front of Memuro Station, with parking available around the building and across the road, making it easy to access by car. The interior of the restaurant is quite spacious and relaxing. They offer dishes such as tonkatsu, tonkatsu-based set meals, corn fried rice, curry, pizza, and more. I was intrigued by the "corn fried rice" which is covered with a generous amount of corn in the menu photos, but I decided to go with the "tonkatsu set meal (pork loin)" priced at 1,275 yen which I haven't had in a while. The rice portion, which you can have up to 3 refills, is generous, and it comes with miso soup with wakame, green onions, and fried tofu, pickled vegetables, and plenty of cabbage (unlimited refills for cabbage as well). The pork loin tonkatsu is tender and has just the right amount of fat. I was planning to have refills before eating, but I ended up feeling full. I would like to visit again on an empty stomach and try having refills. However, it would be impossible to have 3 refills. The limit of up to 3 rice refills is indeed a challenge. This restaurant seems to be especially loved by those who want to eat heartily. Additionally, there is burdock tea available for self-service. Burdock tea has beneficial effects that both men and women would appreciate, so after a satisfying meal, it's nice to have a cup of burdock tea for relaxation.

After a round at Obihiro Country Club, we stopped by Akazukin-chan in Memuro! They have a wide variety of tonkatsu menu items that are very appealing. As a Kansai person, the Okonomi-style tonkatsu set also caught my eye, but I decided to order the mini Ton Ton Don, which has been on the menu since 1983, and a large pork cutlet. The Ton Ton Don had plenty of sauce, tender pork with a slightly sweet flavor, and crunchy vegetables which complemented each other well. The seaweed matched perfectly with the sauce, making it delicious. The large pork cutlet was made from pork shoulder loin, slightly thinner and easy to eat, and also very tasty. One of our group members who loves corn had the Corn Fried Rice and enjoyed it. I wonder what I should try next time!

I was drawn in by the sign for corn fried rice and decided to try the "Corn Fried Rice with Pork Cutlet Set B." The corn fried rice is a local specialty of Memuro Town, and it's a dream come true for corn lovers with plenty of sweet corn piled on top, almost hiding the fried rice underneath. The pork cutlet served here was delicious as well. It was fried perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy with the flavor of the meat.

Lunch visit today, is this a place mainly known for tonkatsu? I decided to try something different and chose the curry hamburger doria. My friend also went for something unique, ordering the Napoli and hamburger set. Now, what exactly is doria? In my mind, it's white rice or pilaf covered in white sauce, topped with a lot of cheese and baked... But it can also have meat sauce or curry sauce, and today I was completely surprised. The salad that came with the set was fresh and delicious. Honestly, if I didn't know the definition of doria, I would have thought it was just a cheese-baked hamburger curry. All in all, it was tasty, served quickly, and satisfying. Thank you for the meal.
