The sliding doors were difficult to open, but once inside, there was a treasure trove of traditional Japanese candies that would delight both children and adults. The calm and soothing atmosphere created by the owner makes it a nostalgic experience for adults. In addition to the candies, there are various knick-knacks, toys, and even BB pellets for sale. Next to the candy room is a secret cooking area covered with menu cards. The owner also sells yakitori, which costs 80 yen per skewer and can be flavored with either sauce or salt. The yakitori is carefully wrapped in foil and newspapers, showing the owner's care and attention to detail. The yakitori, especially the thigh meat, is tender and flavorful, making it a perfect accompaniment to alcohol. The yakitori skin has a sweet and smooth aftertaste. When I went to Takikawa, I wanted to visit a candy store that I had heard about. According to the information posted, they have 487 types of candies! Wow, that's a lot! But on this day, my main goal was to enjoy some yakitori. I visited "Märchen Yakitori," where you can get a skewer for just 100 yen. When I entered the shop, a friendly lady greeted me and I ordered 4 skewers. However, I was told that the minimum order was 10 skewers, which was too much for me since I had other plans afterwards. So, I had to change my order to fried potatoes instead. It took about 15 minutes for them to prepare, so I passed the time by looking around the shop and taking a walk outside. When the fried potatoes were ready, they were served hot and fresh. They were thick and crispy, not too salty, and had a nice potato flavor. They were delicious!
