Takikawa City Snack "New Tokyo" is a shop that I wanted to visit the most in Takikawa City. It was recommended by a senior biker, who always said, "There is an amazing shop in Takikawa called New Tokyo." I finally got to visit after being urged to go there every time I met with my senior. The shop is difficult to categorize as "New" or "Tokyo." It has a very old-fashioned feel. Despite the urban-sounding name, it exudes a sense of being in a remote area. The atmosphere is reminiscent of a snack bar called "Ma no Su" from the manga "Laughing Salesman." Moreover, I heard that the master cannot drink alcohol, yet the place is surprisingly comfortable. It is not a place for one-time visitors. Takikawa was once said to have the highest number of snack bars in Japan relative to its population. This may be because laborers from the nearby coal mining areas visited the entertainment district in Takikawa. "The summer grasses, all that remains of soldiers' dreams"? Keep it up, New Tokyo!
