I was treated by my senior after club activities. We had mountain bandit fried rice bowl, and there were mega size and regular size options. Even the regular size was satisfying enough! It was affordable at less than 1000 yen, and I left feeling full. I would love to go again! ☘️

Nearby the company, there is a mega-donburi restaurant. I had the chance to visit for the first time today due to overtime work. I ordered the Seafood Mega Donburi for 1480 yen with 600g of rice and 5 boiled meat dumplings for 230 yen. There was a variety of sashimi on the menu, but unfortunately, the portion size was far from mega. Despite looking overflowing on the menu, the actual portion was only about half of the bowl. The freshness was also average, similar to supermarket deli items. Price-wise, it was okay. Maybe it was just a one-time thing? I might give it another try. Thank you for the meal.

I ate herring sashimi bowl at Kourin-tei, a popular restaurant for students! It was my first time trying herring sashimi, and it was amazing with lots of fat.

First visit. The regular seafood bowl was 980 yen, but with a discount on Twitter, it was 880 yen. The size was just right, but I felt the variety of seafood was a bit lacking. I'm interested in trying out other menu items, so I'll keep this place in mind for a solo dinner or a post-golf lunch. Thank you for the meal. *Forgot to take a photo...

Seafood bowl Mega (1,480 yen) + Rice extra large (700g) for free. I've been craving seafood bowls for a while now, checking "Oyaji's Twitter" every day, but the timing never seemed to work out... I couldn't resist and ended up eating it at regular price (;^ω^) The rice was 700g with salmon, mackerel, shrimp, octopus, and flounder, totaling about 1kg. There are other places where you can enjoy a "delicious seafood bowl" or "filling seafood bowl," but finding a place that offers both is quite rare. By the way, on service days, the above-mentioned seafood bowl is only 1,180 yen, which is a great deal☆ In terms of quality and cost performance, it's top-notch! Everyone should follow "Oyaji's Twitter"♪ https://twitter.com/kourin_oyaji

Salmon, mackerel, and octopus three-color bowl Mega [1,030 yen] Mackerel teriyaki bowl Mega [900 yen] Since my first visit, I have developed a habit of checking the restaurant's Twitter account (https://twitter.com/kourin_oyaji) and ended up being lured back for another visit. The octopus was delicious! The three-color bowl with salmon and seared mackerel was a perfect combination. The mackerel teriyaki was also excellent, with a crispy texture that was delicious on its own or mixed with the egg yolk. I ended up eating two Mega bowls because they were so tasty, and I feel like I could easily eat another one. I will definitely be coming back to this place!

This maguro chu-toro donburi mega (1,280 yen) is a gem of a seafood bowl shop with generous portions. While it may be slightly lacking in quantity, the chu-toro generously piled on top is impressive! The Twitter information updated daily (https://twitter.com/kourin_oyaji) is also very charming♪ In terms of variety of fish and visual appeal, it may slightly fall behind Miyuki-chan teishoku, but in terms of fish quality, this place takes the lead. Perhaps due to the season, there are people who appear to be Hokkaido University students saying to the shop owner, "Today is our last day here. Thank you for everything! I have decided on a job at ○○!" It's a good shop (*´▽`*)

A friend insisted on going back to this place, so I revisited. They post daily special menus on Twitter, and that day they had salmon, seared mackerel, and flounder rice bowls. I ordered the Mega size for 1180 yen, which was apparently 300 yen cheaper. I also ordered crab cream croquettes for 540 yen for fear of not having enough rice. The rice bowl was packed with rice, making the toppings seem a bit scarce. The sashimi could have been a bit thicker for the price, but I guess it's understandable. Surprisingly, the seared mackerel was delicious, not too firm and a bit creamy. Then, the crab cream croquettes arrived without any frying sound – maybe they use a silent fryer? The croquettes were larger than in the menu photo and came with some vegetables. They were probably high-quality frozen ingredients, but they were satisfying. The owner suggested trying sea urchin next time, so I plan to revisit.

I wonder if there is an izakaya near the University of Hokkaido? When you enter, there is a tough-looking old man, but don't be intimidated and just sit at the counter. They have various rice bowl dishes and set meals, so it might be good for a solo dinner. I ordered the seafood rice bowl (regular size for 980 yen, I think?) and my acquaintance ordered the snapping turtle porridge (1480 yen). Soon enough, the dishes arrived, but the sashimi looked thin and not very fresh, almost like supermarket quality. Most of all, the rice was just plain white rice. Is white rice okay for a seafood rice bowl? Shouldn't it be vinegared rice? If it's vinegared rice, does that make it a different dish altogether? I pondered these philosophical questions while finishing the meal easily. The regular size portion was not enough. My acquaintance's snapping turtle porridge had a rich and flavorful broth. Well done, old man. When I glanced back at the counter, I saw two snapping turtles in a semi-transparent clothing case. Oh... so that's how it goes for you too... Overall, it's not bad, I suppose. I probably won't order the seafood rice bowl next time though. It seems like there are discounts available if you check Twitter, so it's worth looking into.

"If you go down this road and turn that corner... I finally arrived. It's a large portion, isn't it? The yolk looks small. I decided to take on the challenge of the mega portion! If I were twenty, I would have no problem, but... I ordered the mega portion of oyakodon. After placing my order, it arrived shortly. Can I finish it? "Yes-No" Did you say something just now? I was distracted thinking about other things. While vaguely looking at the yolk, I say "SAY YES" unnecessarily... I can't put it into words, but the depth of the bowl seems quite deep... And I am at a loss. The creamy half-cooked egg is amazing! I can't help but want to scoop up the yolk. The seat closest to the entrance is a bit drafty and feels cold. The outside is already a white winter. I started eating, but it's a long way to go until I finish half. The seasoning is just right, and the taste of the mega oyakodon is delicious. The tender chicken, fluffy egg, and rice create a delicious combination. However, this time I am eating with just a spoon, without using chopsticks. I broke the yolk halfway through. It flows smoothly. I only broke the yolk for sure. The oyakodon itself had plenty of eggs, but with the addition of the half-cooked egg yolk, it enhanced the rich taste of the oyakodon. I probably like yolks more than you think... YES-YES-YES. Since it's a mega portion, I was only able to eat a small portion of it mixed with the yolk. The yolk has reached the bottom. My breath involuntarily stops. Even after eating half, there is still a lot left, but I managed to finish the rest out of sheer determination. The never-ending rice finally disappeared. It was really good to eat the mega oyakodon. I overate, I overate, I can't put it into words. Eating a mega portion can make you feel full halfway through... but I persevered and finished it. The restaurant had a parking lot, offered mega portions, and served turtle cuisine, which caught my interest. It was lunchtime, but it was a bit smoky. ☆☆☆ Next Episode Preview ☆☆☆ Next time, will it be turtle cuisine at Off Course!"

Location is near Hokkaido University Hospital. The other day, when I went to have lunch at the Chinese restaurant "Hou Reika," this shop was located across from it. The sign outside had promotional phrases like "all items are large servings," targeting the common people. After working overtime and feeling hungry at night, I set my sights on this shop. They also had a "Mega" option. Since I had to go back to Otaru, I decided to go for something easy on the stomach here. They had not only meat dishes but also fish dishes. I ordered the "Seared Mackerel Bowl." Since the large serving was complimentary, I made sure to take advantage of it. The master was searing the mackerel with a gas burner. Here comes the Seared Mackerel Bowl (with extra rice). A complimentary croquette was served on a small plate. The mackerel was perfectly cooked, so I finished the bowl of rice in one go without any stress. Despite being seared, I didn't really taste a strong smoky flavor. A mini gathering of Hokkaido University students was also taking place. This kind of affordable restaurant is welcoming not only for students but also for middle-aged men like me. The portion was just right. I wonder what the Mega serving would be like? It seems tempting. Thank you for the meal.

Welcome! Located in the student area of Kita-ku, near Nishi 4-chome street, this restaurant stands out with its unique facade. If you get lost on the way there, blame it on being directionally challenged like me! The atmosphere inside is relatively calm during the afternoon, with a counter and tables as well as a raised seating area. The husband and wife team manage the place, with the wife handling the cooking diligently. The lunch menu offers affordable prices for students and adults alike, with daily specials that are generously portioned for a stamina boost. In the evening, they also serve dishes like turtle and prioritize quality ingredients. The banquet options are also reasonably priced. I tried the Chicken Cutlet Double Set, and it was impressive with its two crispy cutlets that were juicy and flavorful. The crunchy coating and juicy meat were delicious, and the side dishes like cabbage and miso soup were also tasty. The restaurant seems to be popular for its fighter-like portions, so even a small or large size meal should be satisfying. Overall, it's a great place to visit for a hearty meal in the evening. Thank you for the meal!

On this day, I needed to finish lunch by 12 o'clock and move by car, so I searched on Tabelog for a good restaurant along the way and found this place. It was convenient that they had a parking lot. When I arrived, there was one spot available, so I managed to park. The inside of the restaurant was quite smoky, with a smell of cigarettes. Since it was a lunch service at an izakaya, I guess it's to be expected, but I prefer eating in a place with clean air. With limited time, I placed my order. They had three options for 500 yen lunches, as well as other menu items like seafood bowls. A person who came in later ordered the sea urchin rice bowl and seemed excited about it. Although the price of 1980 yen was tempting, I didn't have the courage to eat that for lunch on a weekday (laughs). I ordered the Chicken Cutlet with Sauce and Mayo Rice Bowl from the 500 yen lunch menu, but I asked them to skip the mayo. The presentation was somewhat lacking, but the chicken cutlet itself was delicious. It had a good portion size for the price, and although I initially thought I wouldn't be able to finish it, I managed to eat it all without feeling too full. It was quite tasty. Maybe they have a good way of frying and using oil. It's a decent lunch option for a budget-conscious salaryman. If I have some extra money, I would like to try the seafood bowl or something similar. It's priced below 1000 yen.

I visited during lunchtime. When I opened the sliding door, I was greeted with a welcoming "irasshaimase." There were a few customers already seated at the counter, so I chose a table. The lunch menu was extensive, and I was having a hard time deciding what to order. The customer next to me ordered the seafood bowl in a mega size, so I decided to follow suit and ordered the seafood bowl in a large size (not mega, though). After waiting for about 7-8 minutes, my large seafood bowl arrived. The mega size ordered by the customer next to me was truly huge, I was surprised! Even the large size had a substantial amount of food, but I managed to finish it. I will definitely visit again! \(^o^)/

I went to Kourin-tei near Hokkaido University Hospital. It's a place that seems popular not only among Hokkaido University students but also among many other people. This review is based on my first visit to the restaurant. When I opened the sliding door, the cheerful greeting from the husband and wife welcomed me. Since it was my first visit, I chose a table seat. The counter seats seemed to be for regular customers (I enjoyed sitting at the counter during my second visit). I ordered a sashimi platter, which was centered around King salmon and consisted of 5 different types of sashimi. Each piece of sashimi was very fresh and generously sized. The seared mackerel on the right side was also delicious. I also ordered a vegetable salad, which wasn't on the menu, and the owner kindly accommodated my request. The homemade tofu and miso-marinated vegetables were also delicious. This restaurant is also known for its "mega-sized" dishes, and there are several mega-sized options on the menu. I tried the seafood and colorful vegetable sauté, as well as the incredibly tasty fried squid, which is their most popular dish. Both dishes paired well with beer and sake. Although it's like an izakaya, you can also enjoy balanced meals like a teishoku (set meal) here. They even have live turtles in the restaurant, and the owner, who used to specialize in turtle cuisine, is confident in serving various turtle dishes at reasonable prices. I had a great dining experience and would love to try their turtle dishes next time, although the idea of drinking live turtle blood is a bit scary. Thank you for the delicious meal!

A place with good value for money and a unique atmosphere. I haven't been there for lunch, but since it's close to Hokkaido University, I imagine students come for big portions to fill their stomachs. I visited for a party, and the sashimi was thickly sliced and generously served. All the other dishes were also plentiful and reasonably priced. Of course, the food was delicious. They offer all-you-can-drink without requiring a set course, which is convenient. The owner is friendly and often comes to greet guests, even in the private rooms. I was also treated to the owner's special dish, a cold tofu with three-miso topping, recommended for its spiciness with beer. They prioritize service over profit, which is appreciated. On the day I visited, they were having a special spring hairy crab festival, serving freshly prepared live crabs. They also offer a specialty dish with softshell turtle, a rare find in Sapporo. They even provide a service where they will prepare fish that you catch yourself. Overall, a unique and welcoming restaurant worth visiting.

It seems that the restaurant has been in business for 8 years, but this year they have moved to a new address. I have been there several times, and what always impresses me is the freshness of the seafood! I recently received a complimentary dish of cutlassfish sashimi, which was rich in flavor without any unpleasant smell or coarseness. The assorted sashimi was also excellent, with each piece being top quality. It just melts in your mouth! The zangi (fried chicken) was well-seasoned and satisfyingly chunky. The only downside this time was that I ordered the "tofu and chicken gizzard stew," but instead received a complimentary dish of "tofu with sansho pepper" and ended up getting too full. The owner is a very friendly and skilled man, so I think everyone can feel safe visiting his restaurant.

I started coming to this restaurant 7 years ago and discovered delicious sake and dishes here! The friendly master and mama always welcome me warmly. Today, I tried the limited-time Pacific saury festival with sashimi, namero, and grilled Pacific saury! The oiliness is so good and it's really delicious! The sashimi here is fresh and reasonably priced. I can't go to Susukino anymore! (laughs) Please go with your like-minded friends and enjoy. And once you get used to it, having a drink alone at the counter is also special (*^_^*)

I went to eat a limited edition Uni (sea urchin) bowl in June. It had one serving of Uni for ¥1980, which was quite reasonable, and the taste was excellent. The other seafood bowls also looked delicious, so I would like to come back again in the future. (^-^)/
