Today is Monday. I took the day off work, but I have an important meeting to attend. The waiting room at Obihiro Station is crowded, so I had to have a Zoom meeting on a bench near the station with a different background image to avoid any issues. The meeting went well, and I headed to catch the express train. I bought a pork bowl bento called "Nigirikko" at the "Kanougi Station Store" inside Obihiro Station, along with some alcohol from a convenience store. I waited for the express train to depart and enjoyed a Lemon Highball. The train left the station, and I enjoyed the pork bowl-flavored rice ball while sipping on my drink. The thinly sliced meat was light, and the rice with dark sauce was also light, with nori providing a nice touch. The rice ball was simply delicious. As a drinker who enjoys rice balls, what do I do during travel? I look at the scenery. What do I think about while looking at the scenery? I don't think about anything. What should I drink next? That's about it. Do I write poems? I have no talent for that, and most importantly, I lack experience. I never lived a successful life where I could talk about summer memories. I finished my Lemon Highball, so I'll have a Big Man. To forget the rest of my life, where I realized I would never become successful. Welcome.---------- April 2021 ----------I found a small shrine inside JR Obihiro Station. The staff at the store was actually a man, which was unexpected. He asked me if I wanted the pork bowl and onigiri to be heated up, to which I nodded. There were bento boxes that could be warmed up by pulling a string, perfect for enjoying on the train. I decided to go with the "pork bowl and onigiri" set, which cost 450 yen for two. It may not be cheap, but the combination of rice soaked in sauce and pork wrapped in seaweed definitely tastes better when warm. Surprisingly, the portion size was quite generous, so I felt satisfied with just two pieces. I think they sell tea at the nearby convenience store, so you can enjoy it with your station bento. I wonder if they still make that tea in the distinct bottle shape that used to accompany station bentos...

I went to Kanōgi-san for the first time! It's a pork bowl shop located inside Obihiro Station. Even though I'm local, I hadn't used it before. They sell the pork bowl from "Buta Hachi" here. The main store is closed, I think they are preparing to move. I noticed they also have pork bowl onigiri. I bought a pack of 2 for 450 yen including tax. They offered to heat it up, but I decided to have it as it is for dinner. Oh! It's quite lightly seasoned. It looks like it would be salty, but it's not at all. The meat is so thin that it's almost hidden by the seaweed, it doesn't have much presence. It's a bit disappointing. I'll try adding a little of the special sauce to see how it tastes. Hmm, this might be better. The pork bowl seems to be better than the onigiri. That's it for the review.

I've been curious about "Kan-ō" in Obihiro for a while. I'm alone tonight. It's been a while since I went out drinking. I don't think I'll be doing solo drinking for a while. Solo drinking after a long time wasn't fun. The second day in Obihiro started from the closing of the first place. It seemed promising. When you feel frustrated like that, it's like "Hanzawa Naoki" - three times the revenge. I picked up two places at Esta and decided to head to the east of Esta. On the way, there was a pork bowl place having a sale. I was planning to get a pork bowl from a different place for takeout, so I settled for onigiri. Two for 450 yen. The owner is very friendly. Now, time for ramen. Once it's heated up... the aroma of seaweed is strong. It's quite dark in color, but the seasoning isn't too strong. Have you ever had grilled onigiri before? It uses a lot of soy sauce. It might have a similar taste. It's definitely salty, right? And... oh, is that meat? The meat is lightly seasoned and... thin. It's tasty but... too thin. I wonder... does this onigiri really have a purpose? I didn't feel the pork bowl at all.

I took the first express train from Obihiro Station to Yoichi Town. I was planning to have breakfast at a convenience store or with a station bento due to the early morning, but luckily I found a bento shop open at Obihiro Station and purchased a pork bowl (large) bento for around 750 yen. The bento can be warmed up in a microwave, but I had it as it is this time. The rice in the bento was already soaked in sauce, making it tasty on its own. Additionally, pouring the sauce over the pork added more flavor to it. Recently, the prices of station bentos have been increasing, but this bento was reasonably priced and delicious, so I highly recommend it.

Inside the station, there is a small bento shop in Obihiro! The bentos are all based on Tokachi pork bowls - Pork nigiri for 450 yen. I purchased it for lunch and was asked if I wanted it warmed up, but I declined. It's surprising that even a small bento shop like this has facilities to warm up food. When I opened the container, there were two nigiri with a diameter of 5cm by 7cm each, with pork slices wrapped in seaweed and seasoned with a sweet and savory soy sauce. Eating it without warming it up, the taste was just okay. Thank you for the meal! (^~^)

I have used this place several times but this is my first review... I don't have a Tabelog account (^◇^;) and when I tried to register, it seemed complicated... The food sold here seems to be from "Butahachi" but the sign says "Kin'u." The operation seems to be separate from "Butahachi." If anyone has more information, please let me know. It's located on the first floor of the station building, across from Seven Eleven, in a slightly dark area. There's a shop where a shabby old man sits alone selling bento boxes. The location has moved a few times but it's always open, never closed. The specialty is the pork bowl that heats up again when you pull a string, but this time I tried the "Nigirikko" (2 pieces for 450 yen), which is rice with pork bowl sauce wrapped in nori with grilled pork. I had some rice balls in Makubetsu a while ago and thought I could eat them, so I bought these... but after one bite, I couldn't continue (laughs). I took them home and warmed them up in the microwave. The charred aroma and slight bitterness remind me of the pork bowl. The pork is not very tender, but the firmness gives it a sense of authenticity. The seasoning is quite light, focusing on the natural flavor... I haven't tried the original "Butahachi," so I can't really comment, but personally, I don't dislike it. The curtain says "seafood," but did they have those kinds of products? (・_・;) I've had the reheated pork bowl before, but I can't remember the taste... I'll try it again next time I visit. Thank you for the meal.

Pork bowl. In Obihiro, pork bowls are famous, but I wasn't really hungry. But I wanted to eat. That's when I found "Kinsen" at Obihiro Station. They have pork bowls, but I decided to try something I had been curious about. How did it taste? "Pork nigiri - Nigirikko" I ate it on the bus heading to the airport, and it was just ordinary. When you feel like eating a pork bowl, it's best to just have pork rice. Thank you for the meal. So, I'll head back while looking at the patchwork. I could even see Mt. Fuji in the distance. I wonder if it will appear in my first dream?

Inside Obihiro Station, I found a bento shop right away! There was a banner that said "Nigirikko," which is a pork bowl onigiri! It comes in a pack of two for 500 yen. The color is a deep brown, just like a simmered pork bowl. However, when I tried it, it was surprisingly light and not very satisfying. The flavor was also quite mild. It's strange. Despite being a pork bowl onigiri, the pork on top was thin, so there wasn't much of a meaty texture. I had high expectations, so I was a bit disappointed. Kinjo-san's shop is right across from a Seven Eleven, so it's convenient to buy drinks and side dishes. Thank you for the meal!

Today, on my way to Shin-toku Station, I had a little over 40 minutes to spare at Obihiro Station. When it comes to Obihiro, you think of "pork bowl." This time, I bought a "pork bowl rice ball" (with butter) for breakfast the next day. Only the butter version was available as the regular ones were sold out. I had it the next morning at the accommodation I stayed at, and even though it had cooled down, it was still delicious. Eating station bento is also one of the enjoyable parts of traveling.

In Obihiro City, Hokkaido, there is a bento stand outside/inside JR Obihiro Station that stands out with its use of yellow. I bought a set of two pork rice ball onigiri for 500 yen and had it for dinner. The color is dark, but surprisingly, it tasted light. The thinly rolled pork was different from the usual image of pork rice bowls.

In the Obihiro Station bento series, there is also a soul food pork bowl available. I wanted to eat pork bowl even after returning home, so I visited after a long time. This time, I purchased a pork bowl with a lime heater. When you pull the string, the lime and water react, warming up the cold pork bowl. I tried it as soon as I got home, and it's nice to be able to enjoy a hot pork bowl easily. Thank you for the meal~
