Furthermore, the evaluation for dinner (no meals) is as follows: [Dinner] Overall 3.8, Food/Taste N/A, Service 3.4, Atmosphere 4.0, Value for Money 3.6, Alcohol/Drinks N/A. We stayed here for the second night of our "Autumn Hokkaido Railway Trip." About a month ago, we booked a room through the travel agency's website for a special plan that included breakfast and a choice of complimentary drink. We checked in around 3:35 pm on Saturday and checked out at 8:20 am on Sunday. The hotel is located east of JR Otaru Station, along Route 17, with the Otaru Canal across the road making it a very attractive location for sightseeing. The hotel consists of three buildings: a 9-story South Wing, a 7-story Main Building, and a 9-story North Wing. The exterior is clean and somewhat understated. The main entrance is on the first floor of the Main Building. There is a parking lot for about 30 cars behind the building, but some spots can be a bit tricky to park in. The hotel has around 150 rooms and has a relatively large feel to it. The interior has a calm atmosphere with a touch of luxury. The staff's service was straightforward but casual, which we found pleasant. The day we stayed, there were quite a few guests, most of whom seemed to be tourists. We were assigned a Twin Room on the 5th floor of the Main Building with a view of the canal and warehouses. The room was spacious, clean, and had a comfortable ambiance. The room included two large beds, a bathtub/shower toilet/sink, air conditioning, an air purifier, TV, empty refrigerator, desk/chair, and a small table/sofa. The bath on the 7th floor of the Main Building was for separate men and women. The men's bath had a large indoor bath with a view of the canal and sea. The bathwater was hot spring water, and the bath left the skin feeling moisturized. Breakfast was served in the Ilona Restaurant on the 1st floor of the North Wing. It was a bright and casual setting with a buffet-style breakfast offering around 50 dishes, including a mix of Japanese and Western cuisine. We enjoyed dishes like a self-made seafood bowl, Otaru-style yakisoba, sesame herring, freshly fried tempura, and chilled Otaru wine. The location, comfort, and breakfast at this hotel were all satisfying, making it highly recommended for sightseeing.

I chose the morning plan with breakfast included. This hotel has limited parking spaces, so it quickly fills up. I parked where I was directed. The cleanliness was lacking. The breakfast buffet was average. I don't think I'll stay at this hotel again.

I chose to stay at this hotel near the Otaru Canal because I wanted to be close to it. The photo is of the breakfast buffet. I opted for a plan without breakfast, so I paid an additional 2200 yen to have the buffet. The onsen was open from 6 am, and the buffet started at 6 am as well, so I took a bath at 6 am and was able to have breakfast around 6:45 am. Is Otaru promoting ankake yakisoba right now? I saw a lot of it during my stroll yesterday. The hotel breakfast buffet is great if you only want to eat a little bit. The flavor was yakisoba noodles slightly burnt with a seafood-flavored ankake sauce. I also tried the herring with sesame, which is a must for Otaru's breakfast. It was delicious. I indulged in various dishes and ended up quite full. I noticed there were about 30 people waiting for a table at the buffet. I recommend having your meal early.

I visited this place for the first time because they had a discount plan right before Golden Week. I chose the plan with two meals included, and the breakfast buffet had a wide variety of options to choose from. I made a seafood bowl by myself, which was delicious because they used fresh ingredients. The dinner was also tasty, and the service was good. They also included a cafe ticket, so I could enjoy tea at the cafe after checking out. Overall, the cost performance was so good that I felt almost guilty. Thank you for the meal!

I stayed at Hotel Sonia Otaru on the first day of my trip to Hokkaido. The plan I chose was "Delicious Seasonal Trip with 2 Meals Included - Enjoy Seafood & Hokkaido Beef Fillet!" The room I stayed in was a Canal Superior Twin in the main building facing the canal. The room was 24 square meters and non-smoking. The total cost was 38,700 yen (with a 3,000 yen national travel support discount and a 2,000 yen regional coupon). The room had a view of the canal, which was nice. The room itself was average, not very clean, and small. There was a large communal bath with a view of the sea, which was nice. The breakfast was a buffet and was average. The dinner cost 10,000 yen, so I felt it was a good deal for the price of the stay.

I stayed at this hotel because I wanted a room with a view of the canal. Breakfast was usually a buffet, but due to COVID-19 measures, the style of service had changed. You can choose from Japanese, Western, or seafood bowl menus. I chose Japanese, and my companion chose the seafood bowl. The bowl was filled with salmon roe, shrimp, salmon, negitoro, and squid. Such a luxurious breakfast really lifted my spirits (ᗒᗨᗕ) I'm all energized from this lavish morning meal (lol)

I will only post once as the meal content is not expected to change much over the next 4 nights. The breakfast venue opened at 7:00, and my wife and I went there at that time. The restaurant had been renovated at the end of last year, so it had a very clean and calm atmosphere. I liked the table sofa seats and I turned over the plate during the meal to get the food. The menu was quite extensive. I chose boiled komatsuna, simmered butterbur, dashimaki tamago, vegetable salad with Italian dressing, shrimp shumai, squid salted guts, salted salmon with rock seaweed, miso soup with green onions, and rice. A well-balanced breakfast. There were also fried chicken, tempura, braised pork, croquettes, and hamburgers, but I didn't touch them in the morning. The salted salmon grilled plate was delicious as it was warmed up. It was delicious! Thank you for the meal!

I stayed in Otaru city on a regular day. The purpose was simply sightseeing. Since it is winter, it is convenient to do sightseeing near Sapporo to avoid getting stuck far away and not being able to return. This time, I chose a hotel that is reasonably priced and close to the tourist spots to do the typical Otaru sightseeing. The location is along Route 17, running parallel to the always bustling Otaru Canal. It is within a 10-minute walk from JR Otaru Station. The parking lot is a bit small but located behind the hotel. Inside the hotel, there are Western antique-style furniture in the lobby, and the room interior has been renovated in some areas but it is not bothersome. The best part is that you can see the Otaru Canal from the room, so it's nice to be able to enjoy the illuminated canal at night and feel like you're on a sightseeing trip. This time, I booked a stay with breakfast included. Breakfast is served in the dining room on the first floor behind the front desk. It seems to turn into a sushi restaurant at night. The interior is not particularly spacious, but they make good use of the counter area for a buffet with about 40 Japanese and Western dishes. In addition to the usual dishes served in major business hotels, there are some nice additional items like braised pork and freshly fried tempura. It's nice to have a little extra touch. They also have Hokkaido specialties like salmon roe, which visitors from outside the region might enjoy. The hotel's location is good for doing typical Otaru sightseeing, and the accommodation cost is reasonable, making it suitable for sightseeing during the day and enjoying food at night. Thank you for the meal.

There were tea bags like black tea placed at the entrance, but there was no mineral water in the room. I wish there was a little more thoughtfulness.

At Sonia, the accommodation for the Dooh Bullet Tour Part 2, I enjoyed a breakfast buffet with plenty of seafood. I was very satisfied with the variety of dishes available. (^^)

I used the cafe inside the hotel. The atmosphere was very nice, and I had a cafe latte and a donut. The donut can be taken out to the room. I would like to come back here again when I use this hotel.

The breakfast at Hotel Sonia is a buffet at the adjacent sushi restaurant called Kitahama. The price is reasonable and they offer a variety of dishes including salmon roe, squid salted guts, and a mix of Japanese and Western options. The tempura was freshly fried, so I enjoyed tempura rice bowls and salmon roe bowls. The detox water was easy to drink and delicious. I tried almost all the dishes little by little.

Sonia Hotel is located along the Otaru Canal, and you could see the canal from the guest rooms. Today, the hotel was fully booked and the breakfast venue was crowded, so I arrived early at 7 o'clock. I sat at a table for two, where Japanese cuisine was the main offering. Many people, including myself, were enjoying ikura donburi, with plenty of salmon roe on top of rice. We rolled it in seaweed and ate it like a battleship roll. There were also grilled saury, mentaiko, eggplant with bonito flakes, pork shabu-shabu, and dashimaki tamago. The variety of dishes was moderate and enjoyable.

In February 2015, I stayed one night on the top floor of Hotel Sonia (Main Building) in front of the Otaru Canal. The location is perfect with the canal right in front of you! As night fell, I spent some time relaxing in my room while gazing out the window at the gas lamps lighting up the Otaru Canal and the stone warehouses along its banks. The lobby is furnished with antique furniture creating a calm atmosphere. The check-in was done at the adjacent Sonia II (Annex) on the same day. Both the main building and the annex have a lovely atmosphere. The breakfast buffet is served at "Sushi Dokoro Kitahama" on the 1st floor of Sonia II. Although there were also bread options, the focus was on Japanese cuisine as it operates as a sushi restaurant during lunch and dinner hours. They had ikura rice and freshly fried shrimp. There was a dish similar to "noppesoup" but it was sold out and replaced with oden, which was very lightly seasoned. The nikujaga (meat and potato stew) was particularly delicious. My partner mentioned that the porridge was tasty, cooked slowly over time. Despite not having a wide variety, all the dishes had a gentle flavor.

Tsunukko & Chibitsunu are here! We had dinner at Kozushi and returned to the hotel. The furniture in the room has an antique style. Now, Chibitsunu, it's time for a strategy meeting for tomorrow's sightseeing! Chibitsunu: "Strategy meeting!" *Zzz* Oh! We woke up in the morning! We had the water provided in the hotel room, called Otaru's tap water (free). First, a cup of awakening. Then, hotel breakfast! It's a buffet style. On the second day, we wore sailor outfits to match the port town of Otaru! Buffets always make me want to eat both Western and Japanese food. They were all delicious. After breakfast, we will explore the town of Otaru! We stayed at Otaru Canal Hotel Sonia. When you leave the hotel, you can see Otaru Canal right in front of you. Otaru Canal is the most popular sightseeing spot in Otaru. The warehouses along the canal are preserved as they were in the past. Looking at the brick and stone warehouses, it brings a nostalgic feeling. In the past, ships carrying cargo used to come and go here. Seagulls perched on gas lamps. Otaru Canal looks picturesque from every angle. We relaxed by the canal. Oh, a boat is coming! Maybe a sightseeing boat? Here is the Okobachi River flowing into Otaru Canal. Oh, there's a crowd... Let's go see... Wow! It's salmon. And there are so many of them. Every year, a few dozen salmon mistakenly swim up Otaru Canal, but this year an unprecedented number of salmon have come in. The shallow riverbed of Otaru Canal and Okobachi River means the salmon have no place to spawn, so most of them end up dying. It's a bit sad, but witnessing the salmon swimming upstream was a unique experience. After this, we plan to eat delicious food at famous shops in Otaru and do some shopping... to be continued. Otaru Canal Hotel Sonia, Otaru, Hokkaido, Iriuchinishi 1 Chome 4-20, 0134-23-2600.

When it comes to Otaru, its famous tourist spot is the canal area. This hotel is located right in front of the canal, making it perfect for sightseeing in Otaru. Although it opened in 1992 and is not very old, it used to be a commercial building, giving it a nostalgic atmosphere. You won't find the top-notch service of luxury chain hotels here. The staff is limited, and you won't see hotel staff outside of the front desk. However, staying in a historical building and enjoying a relaxed stay is quite pleasant. If you book in advance, you can stay in a suite along the canal. At night, watching the canal light up, you won't feel like going out at all. There are accommodation packages that include meals at a sushi restaurant, but I'll skip the details as I received an unfriendly email from the manager saying, "We will move this discussion to the restaurant." There are Sonia and Sonia II, which are under the same management, so you can freely visit the restaurant and café. I highly recommend relaxing at the café here. The only downside is that there is no internet connection in the rooms. However, perhaps it's a sign to forget about the distractions of the world every now and then.

I will be staying at Hotel Sonia Otaru, which has a canal right in front of it. I decided to book the Canal Superior Twin room for a more enjoyable stay. This hotel is located next to the landmark hotel Nord and both are part of the same hotel group. Hotel Sonia has a European-style grand building with a wonderful atmosphere, and they also have natural hot springs. I woke up early today and enjoyed a relaxing bath before heading to breakfast. The breakfast at the restaurant includes Otaru wine and a variety of dishes such as ankake yakisoba, sesame herring, and seafood bowl. It's a really nice hotel with a great atmosphere. Thank you for your hospitality!
