I had plans to play darts with friends, but it got canceled, so I went to lunch with my family at "Rakkyo Da Circus"! I had always wanted to visit Rakkyo, which also has a branch in Esta, but I hadn't been there before. Since Esta closed down, I thought it would be impossible to drive all the way to the main store in Kotoni, but I found out there's one in Shiroishi Ward. Even though I didn't plan to go here originally, after being turned down by two other places, I decided to try it out. I won't mention the restaurant names, but one is said to be the number one curry restaurant in Hokkaido, and the other is a popular Western-style restaurant in Kiyota Ward. The latter had a notice, but the former didn't, so I wasn't sure... If there's no website, it's safer to call and confirm, right? We had no problem entering Rakkyo Da Circus. I ordered the "Grilled Cheese and Bacon Soup Curry (¥1200)" with spiciness level 5 (extra spicy) and a small rice (150g). My family ordered the "Tandoori Chicken Soup Curry (¥1450)" with spiciness level 3 and a large rice (300g, ¥60), and the "Half Vegetable Chicken Soup Curry (¥990)" with spiciness level 1 and a small rice. After placing our order, our food was served in 10 minutes! It was beautifully presented! After a bitter experience with soup curry the last time I had it, today's dish looked radiant! The ingredients included bacon, grilled cheese, cabbage, broccoli, carrots, potatoes, and eggs. It was my first time having seaweed on rice with soup curry, and when dipped in the soup, it added a seafood aroma that surprisingly matched well! The cheese, torched to a crisp, had a fragrant and thick texture that enhanced the flavor. The fatty thick-cut bacon was tender, and when combined with the cheese, it was absolutely delicious! The large and chunky potatoes were sweet and fluffy, and the sweetness of the eggs and carrots was a must-try. The charred broccoli was meticulously done, giving it a perfect burnt taste! The first sip of the main soup brought a tingling sensation to my tongue and mouth. The umami and richness that followed, along with a hint of acidity, suggested that the base was likely tomato-based (as mentioned on another site), and the balance of flavors and spices was just right. Being able to taste the spices while enjoying the essence of the soup itself, and the refreshing aftertaste left in my mouth, was fantastic! I didn't break a sweat at all, so I could probably handle even spicier levels, but it was a good decision to stop at a level that didn't overpower the restaurant's skill! I had been wanting to visit Rakkyo, and finally being able to enjoy delicious soup curry was a great experience. Thank you for the meal.
