This is a report on a restaurant in Hokkaido, Japan. I stopped by "Tokachi-tei" in Oikage, Tokachi Shimizu-cho, which is the entrance to Nikko Pass. In early November, there was snow on the roads near the pass, but there was no snow near the restaurant, making it safe. The parking lot was spacious, and the view of the Tokachi Plain was breathtaking. I ordered right away and it was a pre-payment system. I visited around 11:15 am on a Saturday and was able to secure a window seat as it was not crowded. The restaurant had a cozy atmosphere with a large number of seats. I ordered the special dish I was looking for: "Gyudama Don x Gyutoro Don 'Dream' Collab Don with Soba for 2,150 yen." It was a wonderful dish that fulfilled my greedy dream of wanting to eat both. The walls of the restaurant were decorated with many celebrity signatures. The dish arrived in less than 10 minutes. The Gyudama Steak Don and Gyutoro Don half & half looked luxurious and delicious. The small soba and mini tempura were also great. The seasoning of the Gyudama Steak Don was exquisite and the rice was incredibly delicious. The flavor of the Tokachi Wagyu beef was amazing. Highly recommended. The Gyutoro Don also paired perfectly with the Yumepirika rice and melted in the mouth. It was a great experience to enjoy both in one dish. The small soba in between was also delicious, with the mountain wasabi adding a nice touch. I quickly finished the delicious meal and left very satisfied. It was a superb local gourmet experience and highly recommended. I will definitely revisit if I have the chance. It was a great meal with a stunning view. Thank you for the delicious meal.

Tokachi Tei 2023.08.30
Today, I decided to support a local restaurant by being careful and at least helping out in any way I can. Let's all do our best together! The weather is gloomy and chilly today, so I thought warm noodles would be perfect. With limited time, I headed to a place with quick service, Tokachi Tei. Located along National Route 274, near Nissho Pass, the exterior is a two-story building with a large light grey wall. The second floor is currently closed. Inside, the restaurant is spacious, bright, and offers a great view. Orders are placed at the counter for pre-payment. I ordered the Beef and Egg Steak Bowl with Soba Set for 1,680 yen (tax included). The dish features local specialty half-cooked egg with diced steak on top, soaked in a sweet and savory sauce. The soba noodles are thick and chewy, served in a rich and warm broth. I will definitely come back here again for a meal. Thank you for the delicious food, Tokachi Tei. Business hours are from 9:00 to 16:00 (last order at 15:45), and they are closed during the year-end and New Year period.

What I can do now is to support food and beverage establishments by being extra cautious. Let's all do our best! Today, I visited a drive-in while checking the business hours. I went to "Tokachi Tei" located along National Route 274, near the base of Nikko Pass. The exterior is a two-story building with a large light gray wall on the first floor. The second floor is currently closed. The interior is spacious, bright, and offers a fantastic view. The business hours are from 9:00 onwards. Orders are placed at the register for prepayment. I ordered the curry (large) for 850 yen (tax included) and a tamago for 60 yen (tax included). The curry, with a hint of garlic and the sweetness and richness of the onions, is cooked thoroughly and delicious. As a fan of Nishiyama Seimen's ramen, I will definitely come back for that. Thank you for the meal.

Today, what I can do is to support food and beverage establishments by being extra cautious. Let's all do our best and support them together! Today, I stopped by for a quick meal after work to recharge at "Tokachi Tei." The location is along National Route 274, near the base of the Nikko Pass. The exterior is a two-story building with a large light gray wall on the first floor. The second floor is currently closed. The interior is spacious, bright, and offers a fantastic view. Orders are placed at the register for prepayment. I ordered the pork bowl and soba set for 1,100 yen (tax included) and an egg for 60 yen (tax included). The pork is thinly sliced and a bit firm, with some fat and a delicious sweet and savory sauce with wasabi on the side. I enjoyed half of it as is and the other half with the egg mixed into the rice. Today's soba also came with tempura, which was a pleasant surprise. It seems like they have a lot of lunch reservations today, so I will definitely come back for another meal. Thank you for the delicious food! Tokachi Tei's business hours are from 9:00 to 16:00, and their regular holiday is during the year-end and New Year period.

Today, on my way back from work over the pass and with no time to spare, I decided to quickly stop by for a meal at "Tocachi Tei." The location is along Route 274, near the base of the Nikko Pass. The exterior is a two-story building with a large light gray wall on the first floor. The second floor is currently closed. The interior is spacious, bright, and offers a fantastic view. Orders are placed and paid for at the register in advance. I ordered the Beef Toro and Soba Set for 1,180 yen (tax included), and added an egg for 60 yen (tax included). The beef toro donburi made with Tokachi Shimizu's soul food is delicious, especially when slightly mixed before eating. It has fatty marbling similar to otoro and is very tasty. It seems like they have a large number of lunch reservations today. I will definitely come back here for another meal. Thank you for the delicious food. Tocachi Tei's business hours are from 8:00 to 16:00, and they are closed during the year-end and New Year holidays.

What I can do now is to support food and beverage establishments by being extra careful. Let's all do our best! Today, I have to cross a mountain pass for work, so I don't have much time. I'll quickly grab a meal at Tokachi Tei.

I ordered the curry (large) for 850 yen (tax included) and added an egg for 60 yen (tax included). The curry has a rich flavor with the sweetness and depth of the onions simmered slowly. It's delicious, but the rice is a bit lukewarm (laughs). Even so, the rice is tasty. Next time, I'll come back for the beef and egg bowl.
Thank you for the meal.

Today, I can at least support restaurants by being careful. Let's all do our best! I stopped by for a meal before heading out for work, it's been a while since I last visited Tokachi Tei. The restaurant is located along National Route 274, near the base of the Nikko Pass. The exterior is a two-story building with a large light gray wall, and the second floor is currently closed. Inside, it is spacious, bright, and offers a fantastic view. Orders are placed at the cashier for pre-payment. I ordered the Tokachi Wagyu beef bowl and soba for 1,130 yen (tax included). The rice was probably microwaved, as it was piping hot and I almost burned my mouth. The Tokachi Wagyu beef was flavorful with a good amount of fat, tender, and well-cooked, making it delicious. I was happy to have raw egg and mountain wasabi on the side. Next time, I'll come back to try the beef toro bowl. Thank you for the meal. Tokachi Tei is open from 8:00 to 16:00 and closed during the year-end and New Year holidays.

I was driving on the highway heading towards the eastern part of Hokkaido when I saw a sign for "Gyutoro Flake Bowl" around Tokachi Shimizu. I had been curious about it for a while, so when I had the chance, I decided to go check it out. After getting off at the Tokachi Shimizu interchange and heading back towards Sapporo for a few minutes, I found the place. It looked like a typical drive-in restaurant. I placed my order at the entrance and paid upfront. I ordered the Gyutoro Flake Bowl (980 yen) and also decided to add a raw egg as recommended. The staff suggested I sit by the window for a nice view, so I did. The weather was good, and I could see the Tokachi Plain and the distant mountains clearly. After a short wait, I took the first bite without adding the raw egg. It was delicious! It exceeded my expectations. The seasoning was just right, and the wasabi was a nice touch. I then added the raw egg and tried it, which was also tasty, but I preferred it without the egg as it brought out the flavors of the Gyutoro Flake Bowl more. Whenever I head towards the eastern part of Hokkaido, I always used to have soba for lunch, but now the Gyutoro Flake Bowl has become another option for me. I look forward to coming back again.

On my way to Shin-toku for Gyokuyu steak bowl, I happened to stop by this place and the flavor was rich and the rice was delicious. The pickled asparagus with mountain wasabi was a nice touch! The miso soup with red miso, which is rare in Hokkaido, was also tasty. The view was great and I was able to enjoy my meal in a calm and relaxing environment. Thank you for the delicious meal!

I stopped by around 2 pm on my way over the Nissho Pass from Sapporo. There are no other restaurants on the pass, so this place, open from morning until 4 pm, is a valuable find. The spacious dining area overlooking the Tokachi Plain evokes a sense of past lively days. I had the beef toro bowl with a raw egg. The bowl was filled with rice, about two bowls worth. I mixed in the raw meat flakes and poured on some kombu soy sauce. It wasn't as meaty as I expected, but it would suit those who enjoy dishes like raw meat yukke. The seasoned minced meat with wasabi provided a nice accent. (Personally, having regular wasabi as an option might be better.) The miso soup was rich and flavorful, similar to a certain famous brand. After eating more than half of the rice, I added the raw egg for the forbidden combination of egg over rice. It's a match made in heaven. The portion of rice is quite generous, so adding the raw egg keeps it delicious and enjoyable until the end. Highly recommended.

When thinking about what to eat for lunch in Shimizu-cho, I decided on a request for a beef toro bowl✨ The whole family enjoyed the beef toro bowl, which had more rice than it appeared and was very filling. The beef toro melted in the mouth, and the combination with mountain wasabi was excellent. Even after getting full, I still wanted to eat more beef toro 😄 Thank you for the delicious meal!

Pork bowl for 850 yen (comes with miso soup, mountain wasabi, and pickles). The specialty of this restaurant seems to be beef, but since I've never had a chance to try pork bowl in Hokkaido before, I decided to go for it. It was simply delicious! The sweet and savory sauce made the rice go down smoothly. I was about 70% full by the end. Very satisfied! Thank you for the meal!

During a slow lunch break while touring around, we arrived around 2:30 pm with no other customers in sight, just one other group. We sat at a window table with a stunning view and ordered a beef bowl and soba set. The food arrived in just seven minutes, which was impressive, but we couldn't help but laugh at how small the portion of soba was. The taste was not bad, but the small size of the soba was truly disappointing.

On the second day of winter in Hokkaido, for lunch, we stopped at "Tokachi-tei" located on the way to Tokachi via Furano from Asahikawa, due to various road closures. Following the recommendations of the bus guide and tour conductor, we ordered the following:
- Tokachi Seishu Gyutama Steak Donburi and soba set (for me)
- Pork Donburi and soba set (for my wife)
We placed our order and paid at the entrance, then waited at our table for the food to arrive. The beef was tender and flavorful, harmonizing well with the soft egg. It was delicious! Adding mountain wasabi made it even tastier. The soba was thick (Newtokachi Town is famous for soba) with a strong aroma, which made it very tasty. I also tried a piece of pork from my wife's donburi, and it was also delicious, a true specialty of Tokachi. As a bonus, we were given cream cheese, which we enjoyed. I later found out that this place had been featured on "Banana Man's Sekkaku Gourmet." The staff were very enthusiastic about their business, and we ended up buying a lot of souvenirs. I would love to revisit on a sunny day to enjoy the view of the Tokachi Plain. Thank you for the delicious meal!

Friendly staff who seem to have good infection control measures in place. The rice is called "Yumepirika," but the seasoning is strong so it's hard to appreciate the quality of the rice. There was also some grated wasabi provided, which enhanced the flavor of the pork bowl. Thank you for the meal!

I felt like having soba for lunch, but both places I wanted to go to had already finished serving lunch. So, I decided to change my mood and go for a rice dish instead. There were 3 groups of customers already seated, totaling 7 people. I entered the restaurant and immediately looked at the menu to place my order and pay. I was given a receipt and a paper with a number on it. I chose my seat and was served water and tea right away. I ordered the specialty dish, Gyudon for 1180 yen, while my husband ordered Soy Sauce Ramen for 700 yen. The ramen arrived first, with two large slices of chashu and plenty of shinachiku in a light soup with curly noodles. The chashu was a bit tough. My Gyudon arrived next, with bite-sized pieces of beef steak on top. The sweet and salty egg went well with it. Although wasabi was included, it was a bit disappointing as it lacked the usual sharpness. Overall, it was delicious.

I visited the Tenbou Restaurant Tokachi-tei. It is a huge drive-in located at the entrance of the Nikkoso Pass. The previous name of the restaurant was Shimizu Drive-in. This was my first time visiting and they have both a dining area and a souvenir shop, both of which are very large. I decided to have lunch and tried the local specialty dish of Shimizu Town, the Tokachi Shimizu Gyudama Steak Don, but I opted for a light ramen instead. I placed my order at the register and paid in advance. I ordered the soy sauce ramen for 700 yen. I chose a seat and waited. The ramen was served in just 5 minutes. The soup was quite light in color, almost like salt ramen. The flavor was a bit weak and the soup was slightly lukewarm. There was a generous amount of green onions and two slices of char siu, which were a bit dry and tough. Overall, the ramen was okay but could have been better. The rice dishes looked more promising.

A nostalgic memory from a time when the world was a bit more settled. In Sapporo, preparing for a trip at Starbucks. Sipping on an iced coffee and holding a salad wrap roll in hand, I get on the highway heading towards Tokachi. The initial goal is to try the famous Gyutoro Don (beef toro bowl) at Tokachi Shimizu. I order the Gyutoro Don for 930 yen and the Gyudama Steak Don for 1180 yen. The interior of the restaurant welcomes you with stuffed bear and skull decorations, and although it's usually bustling with tourists, it felt quite lonely this time. Nevertheless, I enjoyed the atmosphere of the drive-in. Looking out the window, I could see the vast Tokachi Plain below, although it was a bit foggy. A warm cup of tea is served, and I place my order. The first dish to arrive is the beautiful Gyutoro Flake Don, shining in a salmon pink color. Mixing wasabi soy sauce with the rice and the tender, cold texture of the Gyutoro was an interesting experience. Next, the Gyudama Steak Don arrived, with a bold and flavorful seasoning. After enjoying the renowned Gyutoro Don, my stomach was satisfied and I embarked on an enjoyable journey. On my way to the restroom, I passed by a souvenir shop with a limited selection due to the current situation, but the stuffed bears and deer made their presence known. I bought breakfast bread in Obihiro and headed towards Ikeda Town where I would be staying for the night. Thank you for the meal. Thank you♪

After checking out from Akanko Yukyu no Sato Tsuruga, today I headed straight to Chitose Airport. It's sunny and warm again, so I took a break at the cozy Ashoro-an and this is my second break after driving for over an hour and a half. At Ashoro-an, I immersed myself in the world of Matsuyama Chiharu, but here it's all about "Natsuzora". The morning drama "Natsuzora" from the first half of last year had the Tokachi Plain as its stage in the first half, and the filming was done around this area (explained by the staff). The drama follows the protagonist played by Hirose Suzu, who grows up as an animator in Tokachi after spending her childhood here. She provided the wrapping paper for the sweets shop "Setsugekka" run by her childhood friend, Yukijiro's family, and the wrapping paper used in the drama is right here!!!!! When I asked the staff, they said "This wrapping paper can only be used here" so I couldn't resist buying it (´∀`) Inside is Hokkaido Akari's Jagapai (it was butter bean paste in the TV show...). Hokkaido Akari, also known as chestnut potato, is known for its sweetness, which really comes through. The pie is not crispy but moist, and it goes perfectly with the white bean paste.

I arrived at Tokachi Plain through the roller coaster road. This place was also the setting for the morning drama "Natsuzora"! For lunch, I had a sizzling steak with rice, which also came with ohagi and chiffon cake. What I was really looking forward to was the beef rice bowl using Tokachi beef for ¥930, which is quite cheap! I'm also interested in trying the Tokachi Shimizu beef steak bowl. They put frozen beef flakes on top of hot rice, and the heat from the rice melts the meat's oil, making it sweet and delicious. The mountain wasabi on the side was also very tasty. ♡

After returning from a business trip, I stopped by a drive-in at Nichikappu Pass! I was so hungry from the trip that I needed a boost! Haha. At Tokachi-Tei, they had a limited-time menu item, garlic ramen! Without hesitation, I ordered it! The miso ramen with garlic was delicious, and it had plenty of fried garlic on top! I will definitely visit again!
