I went back to Hokkaido for a visit and my favorite soup curry shop was closed, so I came here instead. It had been about 7 years since my last visit. I tried the Natto Keema. I chose tomato soup, but the tomato flavor was a bit strong. I prefer curry with a strong spice flavor, but it was hard to taste it because of the strong tomato taste. However, it was satisfying to come back to a place I had visited several times during my university days after such a long time.

On weekdays, I had hamburger curry for lunch near the Jingu Shrine. In Sapporo, plum and cherry blossoms bloom together. Today, I saw a squirrel but couldn't take a picture. I walked a bit after crossing the parking lot to get there. It's a weekday, so there was one group of customers before me and four groups after me. I chose the shrimp soup with a spiciness level of 5. I saw someone else's was at level 8, but 5 was spicy enough for me. There wasn't much vegetables, but it felt like a good deal. The hamburger was quite delicious. The shrimp soup had a distinct shrimp flavor. It was a satisfying meal. I also tried using my card and it seemed like PayPay was accepted.

Second time trying soup curry in my life. This time, I added my beloved coconut. Adding coconut increases the volume and enhances the foreign flavor, making the rice even more enjoyable. The beautifully deep-fried vegetables were also amazing. A must-eat when in Hokkaido. Once again, I was impressed by the taste. I want to go on a soup curry tour... Thank you for the meal!

The boneless chicken vegetable curry (tomato soup) turned out to be more like minestrone soup. I ended up leaving the rice untouched as it wasn't really a curry accompaniment. The meat was overcooked and tough to chew. Ordering through the smartphone system was convenient. However, I was seated near the toilet, which was next to the staff room. There was garbage on the floor that was not cleaned up, which was quite off-putting.

I visited the restaurant on a weekday night after 8pm. There were only two other customers, probably due to the weather. I ordered the boneless chicken and vegetable curry for 1400 yen, with a spiciness level of 15 (between very spicy and extremely spicy), regular rice, and tomato-based soup. The default soup here seems to be tomato-based. I placed my order by scanning a QR code with my smartphone, a method that is becoming common even in izakayas. The dish arrived shortly after. The vegetables were simple but included my favorite sweet corn, which was delicious. However, when I tried the soup, it was incredibly spicy! I had underestimated the spiciness level of 15. The acidity from the tomato base made it bearable, but the sweetness from the potatoes and carrots did not provide much relief from the heat. I couldn't fully appreciate the taste because of the extreme spiciness. Next time, I will try a spiciness level of 10. Thank you for the meal!

From the new menu, the "Beef Sagari Cabbage Daikon Curry" costs 1,390 yen and includes beef sagari, cabbage, daikon, lotus root, taro, bitter melon, pea sprouts, fried garlic, ginger, eggplant, bell pepper, okra, broccoli, baby corn, and quail egg. The soup is tomato (choose from 5 types), spiciness level is 4, and rice is served in a smaller portion. Location: SAMA Hokkaido Jingu-mae Store, 1-11-2-11 Miyanomori 1jo, Chuo-ku, Sapporo City.

I had some business in Hokkaido and visited this restaurant for lunch. When I think of Hokkaido, I think of soup curry, so I searched and found this place. They offer 5 types of soup to choose from (tomato, coconut, light, shrimp, creamy shrimp sauce), and then you can choose the type of curry, toppings, spiciness level, and rice. This time, I ordered tomato soup, sticky hormone curry, level 3 spiciness (medium hot). In addition to natto and okra, there was a lot of corn in it, and I felt that the spiciness was a bit milder, so for those who like it spicy, you might want to reduce the spiciness level a bit. The taste was light due to the tomato soup, and I was able to finish it easily. With a wide variety of soup and curry options, you can enjoy a new taste every time you visit this restaurant.

The soup curry here is delicious and has a comforting taste. You can choose the level of spiciness from 30 options at no extra cost. There are also different types of soup available. The chicken curry, pork curry, and vegetable curry are all tasty, but my current favorite is the natto curry.

As it gets hotter, I start craving curry! He said that and has been eating curry every day. I don't have as strong a stomach as he does, but sometimes I also crave it... So, this time, I went to SAMA after a long time. - 15 kinds of Vegetable Curry with plenty of vegetables ¥1300 (only available at the Jingumae and Kawazoi stores) It's spiciness level 7, with coconut soup +70 yen, and quinoa mix regular size +150 yen. Carrots, eggplants, bell peppers, asparagus, okra, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, fried burdock, red and yellow bell peppers, cauliflower, lotus root, broccoli, potatoes, baby corn, cabbage, quails. It really is full of vegetables. But it was too much for me, the portion was large. The coconut soup is different from the tomato base, it has a very mellow flavor, and personally, I prefer this one. Please try ordering it. - Beef Sagari Kyabe Daikon Curry ¥1390 (boyfriend's order) Spiciness level 20, tomato soup, white rice, beef sagari, cabbage, daikon radish, lotus root, taro, bitter gourd, pea sprouts, fried garlic, carrots, eggplants, bell peppers, okra, broccoli, baby corn, quails. The daikon radish was a bit hard and had a slight smell. Perhaps it needed more simmering. The beef sagari was tender and delicious, though. One more thing that bothered me was the ventilation inside the restaurant. It's understandable but the seats near the kitchen lacked proper ventilation, so it was very hot. I sweated more from the heat inside the restaurant than from the spiciness of the curry. I wished they had more fans on this side too. Nonetheless, it was as delicious as always. Thank you for the meal.

I visited a store other than Ootanichi Honten for the first time!! I wonder what soup to choose...? I ended up ordering the original tomato sauce, as expected, and it was nice that the soup was piping hot. I wish they had put in about 4 quail eggs, but I finished it with satisfaction. 😊

When it's cold, I always crave SAMA's soup curry. Compared to other restaurants, I really like the strong tomato flavor here. I've been here about 15 times. I especially love the Juicy Chicken and Charred Cheese curry. It's a great place to visit after skiing or snowboarding at Bankei or Teine. #Hokkaido #Sapporo #Miyanomori #SoupCurry #SAMA

One weekend for lunch, the time has come to visit SAMA in the Maruyama area, near the shrine. The parking lot seems to have enough space around the restaurant. Inside, there is a spacious area with a counter and table seating by the window, with a single waitress managing the floor. The background music is powerful Western music. From the menu, the limited edition Maruyama store beef sagari caught my eye, but I decided to go with the usual "Chicken and Vegetable Curry (1300 yen)" with a choice of 5 types of soup - I chose the free "Tomato Soup", spice level "3 - Spicy", and regular rice portion. The delivery orders seem to be quite frequent, with the staff bustling in and out. Taking a bite, the soup has a unique flavor with grated vegetables, a natural sweetness, and spiciness. The ingredients include sweet potatoes, broccoli & cauliflower, lotus root, bell peppers, baby corn, okra, asparagus, carrots, corn kernels, eggplant, quail eggs x2, and chicken legs. The rice is slightly softer than usual for soup curry. Overall, while it may be a bit pricey for locals, the quality is decent. Thank you for the meal.

The first time I tried soup curry was about 15 years ago. At that time, I remember debating with my colleagues about whether it could be considered curry or not. Since then, I have avoided soup curry, but recently I visited a soup curry restaurant with some staff members. I reluctantly went along as we were working at a nearby studio. When the curry arrived about 10 minutes after ordering, it was as watery as I had expected. The reason I had disliked soup curry in the past was because of this watery consistency, which seemed to deviate from the traditional curry concept. However, when I tried it, I found that it wasn't too watery and tasted surprisingly good when mixed with the rice. While I'm still not sure if I can fully accept it as curry, I want to acknowledge that delicious food is delicious regardless.

After relaxing with a 2-hour full-body massage at the exclusive invitation-only Taiwan massage parlor in the forest palace, head over to SAMA for dinner. The restaurant has a cozy Indonesian-inspired atmosphere. This is one of my favorite soup curry restaurants, having been to the main branch in Ooyachicho before. I ordered the classic Chicken Curry: - Chicken Curry Level 7 Spicy (1,000 yen) - Coconut Soup (+60 yen) - Quinoa Mix (+100 yen) Even though it's spicy, the price remains the same, which is great. The well-balanced spiciness of the curry, along with the sweetness and richness of the coconut soup, is perfect. The texture of the quinoa mix combined with the rice is incredibly delicious!!! The curry is filled with tender chicken legs, potatoes, carrots, eggplant, bell peppers, broccoli, okra, baby corn, and quail eggs, as well as freshly fried vegetables, all of which are exceptionally tasty!! The staff's service is excellent, friendly, and attentive, and I am satisfied with the consistently delicious soup curry. Thank you for the meal.

We visited the restaurant around 11 am on Saturday with two people. We entered as soon as it opened, but customers kept coming in one after another, so I realized that it was indeed a popular place. We ordered the Coconut Soup with Lamb Mince and Maitake (March Monthly Curry) and the Coconut Soup with Cabbage Hormone Cheese Natto. The Monthly Curry had a strong lamb flavor throughout the soup. If you don't like lamb, you might not enjoy it, but I liked it. The maitake mushrooms were delicious, and the vegetable-packed rich coconut soup was satisfying. It's recommended for those who like strong flavors. The Hormone Cheese Natto is a combination of natto, cheese, and coconut soup, so it's rich and packed with flavor. The taste makes you want to keep eating rice! Your breath may smell for a while after eating it, but it's a taste that you'll want to keep coming back for! I love this unique taste that you can only get at SAMA! I have visited SAMA many times, and no matter how many times I come, it's always delicious. I think SAMA is a staple for soup curry lovers!! Thank you for the meal.

Located in Maruyama, on the side of Hokkaido Shrine. Went with a subordinate. We wanted to eat fried rice but couldn't find parking and had to settle for soup curry instead. Surprisingly, my subordinate had never tried soup curry before! We decided to give it a try at the popular SAMA restaurant. I ordered the usual chicken and vegetable soup curry, extra rice, tomato base, spice level 10. My subordinate ordered the vegetable curry with frankfurter, extra rice, tomato base, also spice level 10. We chose the highest spice level, but next time we might go a level higher for more flavor. The taste was good, with a standard soup curry flavor, especially with the tomato base. The ingredients and the way the vegetables were cooked were nice, and the chicken was tender. I would like to try soup curry at different SAMA locations in the future. The young male staff members were also very friendly and provided good service. Thank you for the meal!

This is a soup curry specialty restaurant with multiple locations in Sapporo (and also in Tokyo). Although it is not a major chain, it has a chain-like atmosphere due to the well-organized shifts. The system involves choosing from 5 soup bases (tomato, coconut, spicy, shrimp, creamy shrimp), selecting spiciness levels, rice options and toppings. I ordered the limited curry (Pork belly and leek curry for 1,300 yen) with a tomato base. The first thing I noticed was the high price, which is typical for soup curry dishes priced over 1,000 yen. The dish had a generous amount of ingredients (vegetables and meat) making it more of an "eating soup" experience. The vegetables were not cooked to soak up the flavors but retained their freshness. The soup lacked thickness, but the spices compensated for it with their aromatic flavor. The overall rating on Tabelog (as of mid-December 2018) was 3.34 points.

Unexpectedly had soup curry two days in a row. I went to "SAMA" in Miyanomori, recommended by my husband. I was actually thinking of going to "Okushiba Shoten" if heading west, but it was really delicious♡ - Juicy chicken and burnt cheese curry 1100 yen * Soup: Tomato (there are three types of tomato, coconut, and light) * Spiciness: Level 3 (spicy) * Ingredients: Fried chicken, cheese, carrots, eggplant, asparagus, bell peppers, potatoes, lotus root, broccoli, okra, watercress, boiled egg I love tomatoes, so I might prefer tomato-based soup curry. The deep-fried vegetables and rich tomato soup were great. It was one of the most delicious soup curries I've ever had (*´ω`*)

◆Curry&CafeSAMA◆Located in the quiet neighborhood of Maruyama, this curry restaurant is very unique. The interior has an atmosphere that feels like you've wandered into a tropical Bali. I ordered the Vegetable Curry with Chicken Topping, spiciness level 4 out of 30. The vegetable curry costs 960 yen, and the chicken topping costs 300 yen. The soup has a thick consistency, with a hint of tomato acidity followed by a kick of cayenne pepper. The spiciness lingers, and then the sweetness of onions comes through. The soup is packed with onion paste, giving it a unique taste. The vegetables include cauliflower, broccoli, green asparagus, potatoes, eggplant, bell peppers, lotus root, carrots, and boiled egg. The chicken leg melts in your mouth, and blends well with the soup and spices. It's a very distinctive flavor that some may love or hate. Despite not being a fan of thick curries, I enjoyed this one. ■Revisited on December 27, 2010 I visited again to try their new "Wami" soup, known for its light and smooth texture. The Wami Soup Vegetable Curry costs 960 yen, spiciness level 10 out of 30, with extra rice. The soup, with a light and mild flavor, is made with kombu-based Japanese dashi and a hint of soy sauce. It's easy to drink and differs from the usual SAMA soup. However, the level 10 spiciness was a bit too much for me, as it had a sharp spice that lingered in the throat. The abundance of vegetables like eggplant, potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli, okra, bell peppers, lotus root, watercress, asparagus, carrots, and boiled egg overflowed from the plate. The eggplant was firm, the potatoes had a refreshing sweetness, and the boiled egg was perfectly cooked. Lunchtime offers a 100 yen discount, making it a satisfying meal for those who prefer light flavors. It was delicious, thank you for the meal!

The standard tomato soup was delicious with plenty of vegetables in the 15-vegetable curry, spiciness level 0. The soy milk soup also caught my interest, maybe next time? There were a lot of takeout orders, with delivery people coming in constantly to pick up orders.
